1 HEALTHCAREfirst has two versions of Point of Care (POC) device software: Connected and Disconnected. The Connected version of the software requires a persistent Internet connection and will not function without one. Microsoft Windows Windows 7 SP1 or Higher Windows 8 Windows 10 Apple ios (ipad) ios 10 or higher Android OS Lollipop (v5.x) Marshmallow (v6.x) Nougat (v7.x) *HEALTHCAREfirst highly recommends keeping your devices up to date with the latest operating system updates

2 Hardware Requirements In order to guarantee base functionality, please ensure that your current hardware setup coincides with Microsoft s hardware requirements: Windows 7 ( Windows 8 ( US/windows 8/system requirements) Windows 10 ( us/windows/windows 10 specifications) Software Requirements Internet Browsers HEALTHCAREfirst customers use a variety of browsers including but not limited to Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Safari. At present, your best experience is with Internet Explorer. However, many customers prefer Google Chrome. Each browser has its own set of imperfections so you ll need to decide which one works best for you. *The Metro and Edge browsers included in Windows 8 and Windows 10 is not supported. You must run Internet Explorer in desktop mode. PDF Reader Download and install the latest free version of Adobe PDF Reader ( Disconnected POC Device Important HEALTHCAREfirst Recommendations Because of the inherent risk of storing patient information on laptops, HEALTHCAREfirst recommends the following best practices be applied: 1. Implementation and maintenance of an Antivirus solution to ensure system integrity. 2. Regular application of critical Windows updates. 3. Implementation of full disk encryption software on all disconnected devices to ensure patient data is protected in the event of lost or stolen equipment. *HEALTHCAREfirst is not responsible for the storage of encryption keys and passwords. NOTE: Local Administrator Rights must be provided to the users of the Disconnected POC Device to allow them to synchronize the data on the device to the database on the server. Disconnected POC devices are only supported on Windows based operating systems. HEALTHCAREfirst recommends using Professional versions of Windows, but support is provided for many Home versions Windows 7 SP1 or Higher (32 bit or 64 bit) Windows 8 (32 bit or 64 bit) Windows 8.1 (32 bit or 64 bit) Windows 10 (32 bit or 64 bit) *HEALTHCAREfirst does not support Windows 7 Home Starter or Windows 8 RT. 3 Hardware Requirements Processor Type/Speed Below are several examples of current processors available on the market. The list is not comprehensive and should not be interpreted to mean that these are the only processors that HEALTHCAREfirst supports. HEALTHCAREfirst recommends that you consult with your hardware vendor before making any purchases. For new purchases, you should ensure the processor meets the following minimum standards: Cores: Dual Core or greater L2 Caches: 2MB or higher HEALTHCAREfirst does not support Intel ATOM or Celeron processors. Disconnected Point of Care runs optimally with an Intel i Series or AMD equivalent processor. Listed below are some commonly available processors: Intel i3 Processor Dual Core 3 MB L2 Cache Intel i5 Processor Quad Core 6 MB L2 Cache Intel i7 Processor Quad Core 8 MB L2 Cache AMD A8 Quad Core 4 MB L2 Cache AMD Sepron Dual Core 2 MB L2 Cache AMD Athlon X4 Dual Core 2 MB L2 Cache RAM Recommended: 4 GB or greater Minimum: 3 GB Network Interfaces Ethernet o Recommended: 100 Mbps or greater Wireless o Recommended: n o Minimum: g Cellular Internet Cards Many areas in the U.S. will have cellular internet capabilities. Before finalizing a contract with a carrier, HEALTHCAREfirst recommends that you test multiple carriers to determine which offers the best performance in your area. Page 3 of 5

4 Software Requirements Internet Browser Below are the latest versions of Internet Explorer available for supported operating systems: Windows 7: Internet Explorer 11 Windows 8: Internet Explorer 11 Windows 8.1: Internet Explorer 11 Windows 10: Internet Explorer 11 *The Metro and Edge browsers included in Windows 8 and Windows 10 is not supported. You must run Internet Explorer in desktop mode. SQL 2008 Express R2 This software is installed by HEALTHCAREfirst. The patient data is stored in a local SQL database and merged with the primary SQL database during synchronization. Internet Information Services (6.0 or higher) This software is installed by HEALTHCAREfirst. IIS facilitates the interface between Internet Explorer and the local SQL database. OpenVPN This software is installed by HEALTHCAREfirst. It creates a secure, encrypted tunnel between the primary SQL server and the field device. UltraVNC This software is installed by HEALTHCAREfirst. This is a tool that allows HEALTHCAREfirst Support and Development personnel to remote control the device over VPN for troubleshooting purposes. PDF Reader Download and install the latest free version of Adobe PDF Reader ( Additional Information Please note the following: When scanning images, the scan quality setting must be considered. This is measured in dots perinch (DPI) and indicates how many sections the scanned image will be broken into within each square inch of space. A low DPI setting will result in a low resolution image (with a small file size), while a high DPI setting will result in a high resolution image (with a much larger file size). A scan quality between DPI will be sufficient for most documents. Although, depending on the scanner and software, this may be the maximum setting that is allowed for the scan quality. Machine names must be unique, and cannot be renamed after the software installation is complete. Ghosting or imaging other devices from the first software installation is not supported. An active, high speed internet connection is required during the software installation. Page 4 of 5

5 Each device should be synced no less than every 5 days. HEALTHCAREfirst recommends synchronizing twice a day (in the morning and evening). Use the Point of Care Device Usage report to manage your Agencies devices. The report is generated by navigating to Reporting/Master Listings/Point of Care Device Usage. Devices not synchronized every 30 days will need to be restaged and there may be a charge associated with restaging. Below are several external links to assist in your hardware purchase.
