4 About Smart Sense Connecting physical and cyber worlds We are Smart Sense: a Croatian IT company consisting of both tech magicians and business savants, on a mission of closing the gap between physical and cyber world with innovative state-of-the-art IoT solutions. Our strong suit is Smart sensor development. Our interests are Smart Home and Smart City solutions, infrastructure and human body monitoring. Our ultimate goal is to enable a more delightful everyday life for our end users so relax and enjoy the Smart sense complete home/life solutions. Most important thing to know about us, about Smart Sense, is that we are fuelled by passion for technology. That aforementioned passion is maintained by variety of experts from different fields: software, hardware and business alike. Our focus of interest is Internet of Things, the idea of techtopia where all the things around us are connected, communicating and working in perfect harmony. We are aware that this task is distant, expensive and not easily achievable. However, quitting is not our credo and shying away from a challenge is not our modus operandi. We are ready to abandon the adequate and search for phenomenal. For this purpose only, we write our own software, we create our own hardware and we tread bravely towards the interconnected reality and the Holy Grail of networking: The Internet of Everything. Smart Sense core team has successfully implemented numerous projects in cooperation with industry and Faculty of electrical engineering and computing and within EU framework program. Some of the projects are: development of complete Smart Home solution (including hardware and software) for Iskon Internet d.d. Implementation of Smart Sense Air Quality Monitoring System in first smart street in Dubrovnikproject led by Deutsche Telekom and Cisco Systems; implementation of sensor globally. Collaboration with Andrija Stampar Teaching Institute of Public Health in Croatia in validating Smart Sense AirQ Monitoring Station data with professional environmental station data development of indoor air quality sensors (both HW and SW) and development of wireless sensors for crowd sensing of air quality data (OpenIoT, Osjeti ZG zrak) and m-health system for asthma control development of wireless sensors based manufacturing monitoring system With its partners in industry and academy Smart Sense covers complete expertise of R&D&I, manufacturing and commercialization of electronic and IT systems.

5 Description of Indoor Air Quality Monitoring System Smart Sense AirQ Indoor continuously monitors key air quality parameters: temperature, humidity and CO2 levels. Visually and numerically displays values for desired time periods. Sends notifications to users when the values are out of the ordinary. The red colour on the sensor signifies that CO 2 is above healthy levels. BY CONTINUOUSLY MONITORING THE INDOOR AIR QUALITY IN EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES, OFFICES AND PUBLIC PLACES YOU CAN PREVENT THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF POOR AIR QUALITY ON STUDENTS, PROFESSORS, EMPLOYEES AND CITIZIENS. AirQ Indoor uses both hardware and software developed by Smart Sense. The hardware consists of sensors that monitor the air parameters in closed spaces such as offices, classrooms (Smart Sense Indoor AirQ sensor). The sensors wirelessly communicate with a central unit that systematizes the collected data and forwards it to a custom-built cloud platform (Smart Sense central and web application), where they are analysed and presented to users. Smart Sense Indoor AirQ sensor AirQ indoor sensor measures temperature, humidity and concentration of CO 2 in indoor spaces. With integrated optical CO 2 sensor gas, it can measure concentration from 0 ppm to 5000 ppm. LED light signals CO 2 concentration with different shades as shown in picture 2. Sensor has temperature range from -25 o C up to +55 o C as for relative humidity it can measure up to 95% RH. Indoor AirQ sensor collects data from surrounding and sends it to Smart Sense central unit. Indoor AirQ sensor can be additionally extended with other sensors including noise, light and VOC. 6 Smart Sense central unit (gateway) Smart Sense gateway runs central cloud application. Gateway accepts data from sensors via Zigbee protocol and sends it to cloud application. Smart Sense cloud, web and mobile application Smart Sense central cloud application collects data from all available Smart Sense Indoor AirQ sensors and stores them in database. It is designed to be adjustable to end customer visual and functional requirements.
