1 CoSc Lab # 8 (an array of a class) Due Date: Part I, Experiment classtime, Tuesday, Dec 4 th, Part II, Program - by midnight, Tuesday, Dec 4 th, Part I is the Experiment component and will not be accepted late. Part II is the programming component. Part I. Experiment. (10%) (There is no Lab8Experiment code on the web.) REMEMBER - ALL EXPERIMENTS MUST BE TYPED NOT HANDWRITTEN!!!! For this lab experiment you are given several code segments that illustrate some of the new concepts discussed in Chapter 9 and 12. You should first "hand-run" the code and then double check your accuracy and understanding by checking output using System.out.println. Answer each of the following questions by providing the output generated. If there is an error in the code that prevents it from compiling or executing to completion explain the error. Note: in order to execute these code segments build a Lab7Experiment. Copy and paste each of the below segments of code into the init method and run the applet. 1. Give the output generated by the following code segment. As with earlier projects, you will need to zip together all Lab7 java files before submitting your final program with TURNIN. This project will require that your Lab7Project contain three separate classes (Lab7View (I will provide this code), Lab7 (your Control class - you will develop this code), and StudentInfo (I will provide this code). The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with a Collection Class to implement a One-Dimensional Array.

4 Part II. Programming. (80%) In this next assignment you will provide new selection interactivity for the Schnellwich JFrame. Your Lab8 will continue to extend the View developed for Lab3 and provide both the Controller (Lab8.java) and the Model (Lab8Model.java) in this lab. Since Lab8 will extend Lab3, as in the past for Labs 5 and 6, you need only to copy Lab3 into your Lab8 project and make the required modification to your Lab6 code. For this assignment, your Lab6 will be renamed to become your Lab8 but will now require new code in order to implement new JButtons that allow customers to order multiple orders and to review and pay for their multiple selection. To do this your Lab8 will employee a Java one-dimensional array to construct a collection of orderdetail[]. The array and will store the various details of a customer s selections and allow the customer to review and make a single cash payment for the complete order. You will need to add additional methods to Lab8 and your Lab8Model in order to implement these new features. Note: This new requirement will necessitate the creation of a completely new Java class entitled OrderDetail (see below for an outline of this class). public class OrderDetail private String drink; private String sandwich; private String side; private String size; private boolean grilled; private double price; public OrderDetail() //default constructor public String getdrink() return drink; public void setdrink(string n) drink = n; public String getsandwich() return sandwich; public void setsandwich(string n) sandwich = n; //other required methods The declaration for this array and methods that work with it (storing values and recalling values) will reside in your Lab8Model. Your Lab8Model declaration will look like:

5 public OrderDetail[] orders = new OrderDetail[20]; //a maximum of 20 orders The added desired functionality required for this new version of the assignment is as follows: After selections are made for an order (sandwich, drink, and sides) and the Place Order button is pressed - three new buttons should appear underneath the Price of selection JTextField. These buttons are: Another, Review, & Finish. Their functionality is as follows: 1) By selecting Another, the customer can enter selections for a new order in addition to ones already entered. 2) By selecting Review a new JFrame appears showing the details of orders already selected. 3) From the details shown the customer can choose to delete a selection, delete the entire order, or cause the selections to be displayed sorted alphabetically by sandwich type. 4) You can delete a item selected or the total order 5) By selecting the Finish button the Grand total is computed. Our implementation of the final JFrame is shown below. Feel free to experiment with it. HAPPY PROGRAMMING!!!!
