1 EXPT. :09 REG.. : DATE : AIM: SORTING OF AN ARRAY USING 8086 MICROPROCESSOR To write an assembly program for a sorting of an array using 8086 microprocessor. APPARATUS REQUIRED: 8086 MICROPROCESSOR KIT POWER CHORD a)ascending ORDER ALGORITHM: STEP 1: Initialize the CX register for the number of cycles and the array size. STEP 2: Initialize the DX register for the number of comparison. STEP 3: Copy the immediate data (1100)H in to the BX register. STEP 4: copy the content which is specified by BX register to the AX register. STEP 5: compare the content of AX register with the content specified by [BX+2]. STEP 6: Jump to the step 8, if CY=1 (AX < [BX+2]) else exchange the data from AX register with the address specified by [BX+2] register. STEP 7: Copy the content of AX register to the address specified by BX register. STEP 8: Add the data (0002)H with the content of AX register and result is stored in AX register. STEP 9: Decrement DX register by one. STEP 10: Jump if Z 1 to the STEP 4, else decrement CX register by one. STEP 11: Jump if Z 1 to the STEP 2, else stop the program.
