1 EXPT : DATE: SORTING AND SEARCHING OPERATIONS IN 8086 MICROPROCESSOR AIM: To write an Assembly Language Program (ALP) to sort a given array in ascending and descending order. APPARATUS REQUIRED: SL.N ITEM SPECIFICATION QUANTITY O 1. Microprocessor kit Key board 1 3 Power Supply +5 V dc 1 ALGORITHM: (i)sorting in ascending order: 1. Load the array count in two registers C 1 and C Compare the numbers and exchange if necessary so that the two numbers are in ascending order. 4. Decrement C Get the third number from the array and repeat the process until C 2 is Decrement C 1 and repeat the process until C 1 is 0. (ii)sorting in descending order: 1. Load the array count in two registers C 1 and C Compare the numbers and exchange if necessary so that the two numbers are in descending order. 4. Decrement C Get the third number from the array and repeat the process until C 2 is Decrement C 1 and repeat the process until C 1 is 0. (iii)finding largest number: 1. Load the array count in a register C Compare the numbers and exchange if the number is small. 4. Get the third number from the array and repeat the process until C 1 is 0. (iv)finding smallest number: 1. Load the array count in a register C1. 3. Compare the numbers and exchange if the number is large. 4. Get the third number from the array and repeat the process until C1 is 0.
