2 Introduction This do c ume nt brie fly c o ve rs ho w to use DC Co nso le and the fe ature s and se ttings. Be sure to re ad this do c ume nt in its e ntire ty be fo re atte mpting to use s DC Co nso le with a DC Suite c o mpatible de vic e. What is the difference between an "App" and a "Suite"? Apps are single applic atio ns running o n the de vic e use d to c o lle c t and sto re data. In mo st c ase s, multiple apps wo uld be utilize d to handle vario us o pe ratio ns. Fo r e xample, the 'Ite m_quantity' app is o ne o f the mo st wide ly use d apps and the mo st dire c t me ans to take a basic inve nto ry c o unt, it pro duc e s a data file sho wing what ite ms are in sto c k, the re lative quantitie s, and re quire s minimal input fro m the mo bile wo rke r(s). Othe r o pe ratio ns will re quire additio nal input, fo r e xample, if yo u also ne e d to kno w the spe c ific lo c atio n fo r e ac h ite m in inve nto ry, the 'Ite m_lo t_quantity' app wo uld be a be tte r fit. Apps c an be use d in a varie ty o f ways and pro vide the LDX10 the fle xibility to handle virtually any data c o lle c tio n o pe ratio n. "Suite" file s are simply c o lle c tio ns o f individual apps. Suite file s allo w yo u to e asily manage and e dit multiple apps fro m within a single 'sto re -ho use ' file and pro vide an e ffo rtle ss me ans fo r de vic e de plo yme nt. Sinc e yo u c an sto re all pe rtine nt apps in a single suite file, yo u c an c o nfigure de vic e s with the push o f a butto n.

3 Modify an Existing Factory Application 1. Cre ate a Ne w Suite (whe re yo u will be saving the mo difie d App). Skip this ste p if yo u alre ady have a c usto m Suite file. 2. Se le c t 'Factory' fro m the Suite Me nu, and c lic k the App yo u wish to mo dify. 3. Clic k 'Copy App To' and se le c t the applic able Suite. 4. Se le c t 'File' fro m the Suite Me nu and o pe n applic able Suite. 5. Se le c t the App. Yo u a re no w re ady to begin mo difying it. 6. Fro m the Main tab: Yo u c an re name the app and c hange its c o lo ring sc he me. 7. Fro m the Fields tab: De sign the fo rm fac to r o f the app. Make c hange s to the lo o k, fe e l, and mo dus o pe randi o f the app. Edit fie lds and fie ld pro pe rtie s (c hange the se que nc e o f fie lds fo r be tte r wo rkflo w, apply fie ld attribute s to impro ve data ac c urac y, add te xt labels to he lp instruc t use rs, e mplo y date / time stamps, and muc h mo re. 8. Fro m the Capture tab: Fo rmat the o utput data file to matc h yo ur so ftware ne e ds. Stre amline mo ving the data fro m the de vic e to yo ur so ftware by de fining o utput file name s, paths, and fo rmats. Cho o se standard te xt fo rmats (i.e. c sv, txt) o r c re ate c usto m fo rmats using c apture field pre fix/ suffix o ptio ns. 9. Whe n finishe d, c lic k 'Send to Device'. Write a New Application from Scratch 1. Cre ate a Ne w Suite (whe re yo u will be saving the c re ate d App). Skip this ste p if yo u alre ady have a c usto m Suite file. 2. Clic k New App. 3. 4 Installing DC Console Do wnlo ad DC Co nso le at o de po we r.c o m/ do wnlo ads. Do wnlo ad the.msi installe r pac kage. Clic k Ye s, whe n pro mpte d to run the installe r pac kage, and fo llo w the instruc tio ns o f the installatio n wizard.

5 Application Interface APPLICATION The APPLICATION po rtio n o f DC Co nso le is fo r de signing applic atio ns to use with DC Suite and the LDX10. Suite Menu Se le c t the Suite with whic h to wo rk. File Ope n a suite fro m the PC. Se le c t a valid.xml file fro m the dialo g bo x that appe ars. Indic ate s whe ther a de vic e is c o nne c te d o r no t c o nne c te d. Factory DC Suite Apps Device Ope n the suite c urre ntly re siding o n the c o nne c te d de vic e. Suite App List The list o f apps lo c ate d within the se le c te d suite. Suite Tools Cre ate a ne w, o pe n an e xisting, o r save an applic atio n suite. Also, use Save Suite As to save a c o py o f a suite. Application Tools Add a ne w o r de le te an app within the se le c te d suite. Also, c o py the se le c te d app within the c urre nt suite o r c o py the se le c te d app to a diffe re nt suite. Send to Device Se nd the c urre nt suite to the c o nne c te d de vic e.

App Name Se t the name o f an app. Custom Colors Se t the primary and se le c tio n c o lo rs for an app. Se le c t c o lo rs fro m the dialo g bo x that appe ars. Preview Pre vie w all c hange s in re al-time.

7 Application > Fields Tab Fields Tab Unde r the Fie lds tab, use rs c an add and re mo ve fie lds. Also, use rs c an se t the name and o rde r o f e ac h fie ld within the app. Se t the name o f e ac h individual fie ld. Re mo ve a fie ld. Clic k and drag the up/ do wn arro w ic o n to mo ve fie lds. Add a fie ld. Field Settings Se t Fie ld Type to a te xt fie ld, radio butto n o r labe l. Se le c t the input me tho d to re c eive data fro m the ke ybo ard, sc anne r o r bo th. Fo rma t the data by se tting allo wable c harac te rs, c harac te r c ase and de fault value. Data File Path Se t the path o f the data file. Sort Data Clic k and drag the up/ do wn arro w ic o n to mo ve fie lds o r c o lumns within the data file. Capture Link Se t whe the r o r no t the fie ld data sho uld be c apture d. Field Settings Add a pre fix o r suffix to the fie ld data and c o lumn na me. Disable Ale rt o ptio n will disable any ale rt if a matc hing value is no t fo und. 6) Click OK

Fetch Onc e the pro pe r file s are in the transfe r que ue, c lic k Fe tc h to do wnlo ad the file s.

Also, use Save Suite As to save a c o py o f a suite. Send to Device Se nd the passwo rd to the c o nne c te d de vic e.
