1 Security Management System Infinova T-series Cameras SD Card Video Synchronization Introduction Security Management System software supports automatic synchronization of video recorded on the video sources, with the video storage managed by Security Management System. When there is any problem in the network connectivity, Security Management System gets disconnected from the video source, and hence recording is not available for the disconnection duration in Security Management System. This missed video is queried from the video source and is synchronized with video storage managed by Security Management System. Which ensures the video availability during playback operations, even for the durations where video source is not accessible to Security Management System Typical working of the synchronization mechanism is as follows - (a) The video source records the video on local media e.g. SD Card in the cameras (b) Especially in case of cameras, it is possible to configure the camera to record on local SD card, on network loss and stop recording on SD card when network connectivity is restored. (c) The Security Management System analyzes the video recording managed by it and checks time periods for which video is not available. (d) For these durations, the video source is queried for availability of locally recorded video inside the video source. (e) If locally recorded video inside the video source is available, it is requested by the Security Management System and is used to patch the missing video records from video recording managed by Security Management System. This document describes the steps to configure synchronization of video on SD card of Infinova T-series camera, with the video storage managed by Security Management System. Camera Configuration 1. Add Infinova T series camera into Security Management System Server software. Go to Video details page using left hand side navigation menu. Page 1 of 6

2 2. Please click on Info button available next to the Supports SD Card checkbox. This will pop up a message box, which displays list of configurations required in the camera. These are one time configurations and are expected to be managed from the camera s standard web browser user interface. For Infinova T-series cameras, following camera configurations are required - (a) Make sure that SD card is mounted and write-protction is set to OFF. (b) Make sure that camera time is synchronized with Security Management System server time. It is recommended to use NTP server and configure camera to synchronize time with the NTP server, and Security Management System to synchronize time with same NTP server. (c) The video stream type (major / minor) selected for SD card recording in the camera should match with the recording video stream (major / minor) configured in Security Management System, for that camera. The camera parameter 'Recording video type' should be set correctly for this Page 2 of 6

3 (d) The camera parameter 'Recording mode' should be set to 'Alarm triggered' or 'Always'. It should not be set to 'Close'. (e) 'Heart beat lost' alarm from the camera should be configured to start 'SD card' recording. Please note: If you do not see above Heart beat lost alarm in the web page, then it means your camera is having camera firmware version that does not support SD Card recording upon video disconnection. Please ask your vendor for the firmware version change. Page 3 of 6

5 Security Management System Configuration 1. After completing the camera configurations, as described in the section above, SD card synchronization feature can be enabled in the Security management System for that camera. 2. Go to Video details page using left hand side navigation menu. Enable the Supports SD Card checkbox. 3. After the camera is back online, Security Management System server software tries to synchronize the missing video from camera s SD card. This synchronization process may take some time, depending on the missing video duration, network capabilities and resources availability on the server etc. The status of the SD card video synchronization activity is displayed in the Security Management System server software. Channel Name: Name of the channel for which SD card feature is supported. SD Communication: Current communication status with the camera SD monitoring: Shows video synchronization status for the camera which includes current video download timestamps, and its completed percentage. If application is not downloading any video, this column shows the next time when application will start the video download or synchronization from the camera. Bandwidth: Bandwidth in Mbps consumed by current video being downloaded. FPS (not seen in above image): shows FPS of the current video being downloaded. Info2: Extra information about the current download. Last activity time: Update about the last synchronized video download. Clicking on the Refresh button, refreshes the status. Page 6 of 6
