2 1 CAMERA INSTALLATION 1. Remove the protective film from the camera lens. 2. Position the REEF-Cam inside or outside your aquarium in a location with an unobstructed view and within reach of the WiFi hub. The REEF-Cam lens should NOT be located in a position where it can come into contact with sand, gravel or in any location where it could become scratched or damaged. Only clean the REEF-Cam lens with a soft clean cloth and NEVER with an algae pad, scraper or any other abrasive material. 3. Install the mounting bracket to the side of the aquarium using the suction cup or magnet mount. If mounting dry, use the adapter as seen in picture 3. Magnet Mount - for flat surfaces up to 1/2in thick. Locking Suction Mount - For all smooth surfaces. To install, push to surface and turn the locking suction cup knob clockwise until the REEF-Cam is fully secure. 4. Gently push the REEF-Cam cable into the retaining slot and if needed use the cable securing suction clip to secure and tidy the connection cable. NOTE: Bright lighting can affect the camera s ability to adjust to all of the varying light levels in the aquarium. We recommend angling the camera downwards from the light source to avoid this. 3 2 SETTING UP THE REEF-CAM WIFI HUB 1. Position and secure the WiFi hub away from water and can be easily connected to the REEF-Cam. The WiFi hub is NOT waterproof and be sure that all connections to and from the REEF-Cam are installed with proper drip loops. 2. Plug the REEF-Cam into the camera connection port(2) on the WiFi hub. 3. Plug the power supply into the power port(1) on the WiFi hub. 4. Supply power to the REEF-Cam. DOWNLOAD Download the REEF-Cam App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install it on your smartphone/tablet.

4 NETWORK CONNECTIONS The picture and streaming quality of the REEF-Cam is dependent on many different variables such as the performance and speed of your internet connection, signal strength of wireless network, physical obstructions in the line of sight between the WiFi hub and the WiFi router and connection quality on your receiving device such as smartphone or tablet. DIRECT CONNECTION USING ETHERNET CABLE The WiFi hub can be directly connected to your home network with an ethernet cable (not supplied). In some instances this may achieve better streaming results. You do not need to setup the WiFi network connection if using an ethernet cable. 1. Plug your ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the WiFi hub. 2. Open the REEF-Cam App. 3. In the Camera List page select Add Camera. The REEF-Cam App will now search your network to find available cameras. The REEF-Cam will appear in the list of available cameras. 4. Select the camera you wish to connect to. 5. Name the camera and then enter the factory password admin. If you enter an incorrect password select the camera again and re-enter the correct password. 6. Press to confirm any changes made. 3 WIRELESS CONNECTION - WiFi 4. Select the local/home WiFi network (WiFi SSID) you will be connecting to. 5. Enter your WiFi network password. 6. Press to confirm any changes made. 1. Open the WiFi settings option on your smartphone/tablet and search for your REEF-Cam camera. It can take a few moments to search and find the REEF-Cam. If a WiFi network is NOT found press the refresh button on the WiFi hub to search again. 2. Select the camera and enter the default factory password to connect. 3. Open the REEF-Cam App and proceed to the Configuration - Wireless page.

5 4 GENERAL OPERATION CAMERA LIST 1. In the Camera List page select Add Camera. The REEF-Cam App will now search and list all available cameras. 2. Once connected, the RED dot will turn GREEN and Online will be displayed as shown above. 3. Access the Camera Settings page by pressing the drop down arrow next to your REEF-Cam name on the Camera List page.

6 5 CAMERA SETTING Camera Name Use this function to change the name of your REEF-Cam camera from the default camera to the name of your choice. Delete Camera Use this function to delete a camera from the REEF-Cam app. Event Viewer This function is not used with the current version of REEF-Cam. Wireless Setup Change your REEF-Cam connection from direct connect to a wireless set-up or to change your network information. Video Setting Use this function to optimize streaming and picture quality by adjusting the cameras frame and bit rate. Higher frame rates can be achieved at lower quality settings. The highest frame rate and bit rate available will require a good internet connection, but will offer the best viewing experience. Available in QVGA, VGA and HD. Camera Password Change the password of your REEF-Cam. To ensure the security and restrict access to your REEF-Cam, we strongly recommend that you change the factory default password ( admin ) to your own personal password and make note of it. Micro SD Card Safe Removal This function is only used when an Micro SD card is installed in the REEF-Cam WiFi hub. Once you have finished recording video, press this function to protect the data saved on the SD card before removing the card from the REEF-Cam WiFi hub. Recording Setting Use this function to select either VGA or HD resolutions for video recording. Video Playback Use this function to playback video recordings you have captured. Select the video recording you wish to playback from your list. To confirm any changes made press Select to return to the Camera Setting

7 6 LIVE STREAM 1. Camera Name 2. Snapshot - capture still photos of your live stream. 3. Snapshot Folder - access all still photos taken. 4. Video Record On/Off - Record live streaming video (a 32gig or smaller Micro SD card is required to function). NOTE: REEF-Cam App MUST BE CLOSED before installing a Micro SD card. Press Reconnect in the Camera List page if your card can t be found. 5. HD x 720 resolution live streaming. For optimum HD viewing experience select: 2048 Kbps/15fps 6. VGA x 360 resolution live streaming. For optimum VGA viewing experience select: 1536 Kbps/30fps 7. QVGA x 360 resolution live streaming. For optimum QVGA viewing experience select: 512 Kbps/30fps 8. Rotate View Mirror View - Flip Camera 10. Return to Camera List Page 11. Camera Status Online/Offline (P2P/Relay/LAN) 12. 8 ADD A NEW CAMERA TO YOUR LOCAL NETWORK 7 1. Open the REEF-Cam App. 2. On the Camera List page select Add Camera to search your WiFi network for available cameras. 3. If there is a REEF-Cam WiFi Hub connected to your local WiFi then it will appear in the list of available cameras. Select the new camera you wish to connect. 4. Name the camera and enter the factory password admin or your own password if you have set one up. To confirm any changes made press Select to return to the Camera List If you enter an incorrect password, delete the camera and start again and enter the correct password. ADDING A REMOTE CAMERA (e.g. a friend or family member s REEF-Cam not on your local network) 1. Open the REEF-Cam App. 2. On the Camera List page select Add Camera. The REEF-Cam App will search your WiFi network to find available cameras. 3. Select Add Remote Camera. 4. Name the camera and enter the UID of the remote camera you wish to connect to. You can also scan the QR code on the bottom of the WiFi hub. Please Note: The UID and QR Code for your REEF-Cam can be found on the back of the WiFi hub. 5. Finally, enter the password of the remote camera you wish to connect to. See above for what to do. To confirm any changes made press Select to return to the Camera List

9 MANUAL RESET - REVERT TO FACTORY SETTING 1. Power on the REEF-Cam WiFi hub. 2. Press and hold the RESET button on the WiFi hub for 5 seconds. 3. The REEF-Cam will emit 3 beeps to indicate that it has been restored to factory settings. 8 CLEANING & MAINTENANCE Caution: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken when using any electrical appliance near water. Always isolate from the main electricity before installing or carrying out any maintenance to the REEF-Cam or REEF-Cam WiFi hub. For Optimum Camera Picture Quality Water clarity in your aquarium is critical for optimum picture quality. Best to have the water flossed to remove suspended paticles from the water column. Factors such as feeding, algal blooms, aquarium treatments, aquarium maintenance and water turbidity will have a direct effect on the quality and clarity of the REEF-Cam picture. Keep REEF-Cam Lens Clean Using a soft cloth, regularly clean the REEF-Cam lens to ensure it is clean and free of algae and detritus at all times. Failure to do so will have a direct effect on the quality of picture achieved. PLEASE NOTE: Only clean the REEF-Cam lens with a soft clean cloth. NEVER use an algae pad, scraper or any other abrasive material that could scratch or damage the lens.

10 9 TROUBLESHOOTING THE My smartphone/tablet cannot locate the REEF-Cam I am trying to connect to 1. Ensure the REEF-Cam WiFi hub is powered on and that all connections have been made correctly. 2. Switch off the WiFi on your smartphone/tablet, wait a few moments and then switch it back on again. Ensure the WiFi settings on your smartphone/tablet are configured and working correctly. 3. Manually reset the REEF-Cam to factory settings. My REEF-Cam cannot connect to my local Wifi network 1. Ensure you have not entered an incorrect WiFi network password. In this instance, please delete the camera from the REEF-Cam App and then follow the installation steps under Network Connection. 2. Make sure that your WiFi network router is on and is correctly configured. 3. Check to see if the REEF-Cam WiFi hub is in range of your WiFi network router and that your smartphone/tablet is trying to connect to the correct WiFi network and router. 4. If a WiFi network is NOT found press the refresh button and the REEF-Cam App will search again. I cannot add a new camera to my local Wifi network 1. Check the WiFi hub of your new/additional REEF-Cam is switched on and that all connections have been made correctly. 2. Make certain that the name, UID/QR code and password for the new camera has been entered correctly. The UID and QR Code can be found on the back of the WiFi hub. 3. Manually reset the REEF-Cam. I cannot add or connect to a remote camera 1. Ensure that the remote camera you are trying to add and connect to has been installed and correctly configured, and is switched on. 2. Ensure the UID/QR code and password for the remote camera are all correct and have been entered correctly. (please note: The UID and QR Code can be found on the back of the WiFi hub.) 3. Ensure that the smartphone/tablet that you are using is successfully connected to the same WiFi network as the Reef-Cam.

11 10 The picture quality and streaming on my Reef-Cam is not so good The picture and streaming quality of the REEF-Cam is dependent on many different variables, such as the performance and speed of your internet connection, strength of signal of wireless network, physical obstructions in the line of sight between the REEF-Cam WiFi hub and the WiFi router, and internet connection quality and speed on the receiving smartphone or tablet. 1. Above all make sure the REEF-Cam lens is clean and free of algae or detritus at ALL TIMES. Only clean the REEF-Cam lens with a soft cloth and never with an abrasive material that could scratch or damage the lens. 2. Check the speed of your internet connection and the signal strength of your wireless network. 3. Check to ensure the REEF-Cam hub is positioned and connected to your wireless network correctly. 4. Use the Video Setting function to adjust frame and bit rate to optimise picture quality. 5. For optimum camera picture quality, the water clarity of the aquarium should be maintained as best as possible. Factors such as feeding, algal blooms, aquarium treatments, aquarium maintenance and water turbidity will have a direct effect on the quality and clarity of the REEF-Cam picture. 6. Ensure the camera is not receiving direct light from the aquarium lighting. We recommend angling the camera downwards, away from the light source to avoid problems. Can other people access and view my REEF-Cam? If you have NOT changed the factory default password, then other people from your local WiFi network will be able to access and view your REEF-Cam. Also, if you share the UID or QR code and password for your REEF-Cam with others, then they will also be able to remotely access your REEF-Cam. PLEASE NOTE: To ensure the security and restrict access to your REEF-Cam, we strongly recommend that you change the factory default password ( admin ) to your own personal password and make a note of it. Use the Camera Password function on the Camera Settings screen.

This limited warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable from the original consumer purchaser. In the event of a limited warranty claim, proof of purchase will be required.
