17 ROTATOR LabRoller LabRoller Rotators can be used on the bench for general mixing applications and Western blotting. They can also be placed in temperature-controlled environments, from 4 C to 65 C, expanding their use to Northern and Southern hybridizations. The rotation speed is variable, from 0 to 50rpm, to provide the specific level of agitation required for a variety of applications. A two-hour timer with hold position controls operation. The angle of the rotation axis is continuously adjustable from the horizontal position to a vertical position (90 ). 20 ROCKER Rocker 25 The Economy Rockers, Rocker 25 and 25XL, are basic rocking platforms that have been designed for a long life and trouble-free service. 26 VORTEX Vibromix 10 Continuously adjustable speed control makes the VIBROMIX10 Vortex Mixer useful for a variety of applications from gentle mixing of samples to resuspending pellets. Two modes of operation can be selected. TOUCH control allows the Vibromix10 to be activated only when needed by depressing the sample head. When set to ON the unit will operate continuously until switched to the OFF position. The general-purpose cup attachment supplied with the VX-100 accepts a variety of different sized tubes. Additional heads are available for mixing larger sample tubes, multiple micro tubes and micro plates. Heavy-duty construction ensures a long life, and combined with the rubber feet, keeps the unit stable and prevents walking. A small footprint allows the Vibromix10 to be used virtually anywhere, including temperature controlled environments from 4 to 65 C. 27 SHAKER Vibromix 20 The smallest of the Vibromix digital shakers features variable speed across a broad range, making them useful for a variety of applications. Both time of operation and shaker speed are set and displayed digitally, with their values shown on the large 3 digits LED. Parameters are selected with an easy turn knob. A sturdy base encloses the motor for quiet, vibration free operation. All models can be used in temperature-controlled environments. Their compact size makes them ideal for incubator use. Vibromix despite its small size can process up to 60 micro tubes at one time. The platform is removable to function as a transfer rack or workstation. 1.5/2.0 ml tubes are accommodated directly while smaller tubes can be used with adapters, sold separately. 31 Incubator SHAKER Vortemp 56 Designed for simultaneous heating and mixing of small samples, the VorTemp 56 features interchangeable platforms for micro tubes and micro plates. Both platforms are supplied with the unit. Temperature in the VorTemp 56 is adjustable over a broad range, making the unit useful for a variety of applications, including bacterial cultures in tubes and micro plates. Mechanical convection provides a uniform and stable environment within the chamber. The VorTemp 56 may also be used in the cold room for sub ambient applications. Shaking speeds as well as acceleration rates are adjustable. Acceleration can be set to three different levels to protect delicate samples. A microprocessor controls all parameters including temperature and timed operation. Self-diagnostic software continuously monitors the unit for proper temperature and shaking speed, alerting the user to any errors.
