1 - Invitation - Workshop on ICT Technologies & Standards for NGN, 3G & FMC Brasilia, Brazil, November, 2006 Context & Objectives: ETSI TISPAN and 3GPP are working together to define a harmonized IMS-centric core for both wireless and wireline networks. Industry leaders are now turning to the standard to support converged services from all types of services providers wireless, wireline, cable, and applications. Access independent IMS (originally defined by 3GPP and 3GPP2) will be a key enabler for fixed/mobile convergence (FMC), reducing network installation and maintenance costs, and allowing new services to be rapidly developed and deployed to satisfy new market demands. This workshop intends to gather key industry players to discuss the current market environment, including the evolving competitive environment, the current stage of TISPAN NGN work programme, the rapid advances in technology; it will provide an unique exploration framework of current industry trends in NGN adoption and deployment, and looks at the impact of TISPAN/NGN on present and future applications and all aspects of the technology infrastructure. This workshop also intends to shed the light on some of the first steps and other considerations that service providers in Latin-America should explore as they move towards the next generation network.
