5 How to self-install your Tunstall Liberty 300 alarm Before you can start using your Tunstall Liberty 300 alarm, please complete the following instructions. Please note: This alarm has been pre-programmed to automatically connnect to the Tunstall emergency response centre. DO NOT REPROGRAM THIS ALARM. Step 1 Situate your alarm Decide where you wish to situate your new alarm unit in your home. Remember it should be within two metres of a mains power wall socket and a main telephone line wall socket (if connecting your alarm via a traditional landline connection, with GSM as backup only). Step 2 - GSM connection: (SIM card required) If your alarm has been provided with a SIM please go direct to page 6, and follow the instructions to connect the external GSM antenna. SIM card selection If your alarm has not been provided with a SIM card please arrange and insert a SIM card. In order to use the GSM mobile network a full sized SIM card must be fitted into the Tunstall Liberty 300 alarm. The SIM fits into the slot, as labelled SIM. Insert the SIM card with the gold contact side of the SIM facing down by pushing it into the base alarm unit until it clicks, then release. To remove the SIM card, push the SIM card gently into the unit until it clicks and then release. The SIM card will eject and can then be taken out of the base alarm unit. Note: When operating over a GSM network, the base alarm unit will not work unless there is satisfactory GSM coverage by the SIM service provider, and the SIM is active. See page 6 for further information on status LED signal strength. 5

6 Connect the external GSM antenna Connect the external GSM antenna into the socket labelled External GSM antenna. Place the antenna upright in a suitable position to give optimum signal strength. Note: The signal strength can be checked once the power is connected by pressing the green CANCEL button while the Liberty 300 alarm is in normal/ operation mode. The signal strength will be displayed for two seconds and updates every minute. to The base alarm unit will display the signal strength from 0 to = Weak signal 2-5 = Average signal 6-9 = Strong signal Diagram 3 Note: A higher gain antenna is available for purchase for clients in poor GSM coverage areas. 7 Step 3 Connect the mains power adaptor Plug the black mains adaptor into the base alarm unit socket labelled POWER (Diagram 4) and plug into a power point in your home (mains power). Turn on both the mains power and the battery switch on the alarm. Wait one minute for the alarm display to go blank. POWER Battery switch Diagram 4 7

8 Step 4 Place a test call Press the blue button (Diagram 5) on your Liberty 300 pendant to place a test call to the Tunstall response centre. Advise the response operator that you are installing your new Tunstall Liberty 300 alarm. The response operator will confirm your details and complete the installation process with you. Diagram 5 Your GSM only installation is now complete. Note: If you are connecting your alarm to a landline with GSM as back-up only, please continue to page 9 to complete Step 5. 8

9 Step 5 - Landline connection: (mains telephone line required) Complete this step if you are connecting your Liberty 300 via a landline, with GSM as back-up only. Please disconnect the mains power and turn off the battery switch on your alarm before completing this step. Socket type selection Australian homes are fitted with one of two kinds of telephone wall socket connections. Compare your telephone wall socket with the diagrams below and proceed to the appropriate installation instructions. Type 1 - Modern RJ12 telephone wall socket (page 10). 10 Type 1 - Modern RJ12 wall socket Connect the telephone line Unplug your existing telephone lead from your RJ12 wall socket. Plug the new white telephone line into the alarm unit socket labelled LINE IN, and then connect to your RJ12 wall socket (Diagram 8). LINE IN Connect the telephone lead Diagram 8 Plug your existing telephone lead into the alarm socket labelled HANDSET (Diagram 9). HANDSET Test the connection Reconnect the mains power by completing step 3 (page 7). Then place a test call to the response centre by completing step 4 (page 8). 10 Diagram 9

11 Type 2 - Traditional 610 wall socket Connect the telephone line Plug the new white telephone line into the alarm unit socket labelled LINE IN, and then connect to the front of the telephone adaptor (Diagram 10). LINE IN Connect the telephone adaptor Diagram 10 Unplug your existing telephone connector lead from the 610 wall socket, and replace with the telephone adaptor (Diagram 11). Connect the telephone lead Re-attach your existing telephone connector lead to the end of the telephone adaptor (Diagram 12). Diagram 11 Test the connection Reconnect the mains power by completing step 3 (page 7). Then place a test call to the response centre by completing step 4 (page 8). 11 Diagram 12
