3 Introduction ATSEP should be proven competent in installation, operation & maintenance of CNS/ATM systems. ICAO Doc outlines the criteria for ATSEP competency based training & assessment programmes. ATNS ATA has embarked on a programme to ensure ATSEP competency as per ICAO Doc How ATNS ATA plan to achieve ATSEP competency?

14 ATNS ATA Current Offering Currently ATNS-ATA offers Phase 1 Basic Training applicable to all ATSEP for a period of 10 weeks (50 workdays) covering the following: Topic Loading Introduction to ATSEP & Air traffic familiarisation. 10% Intro. to the Earth & ANSP Maintenance procedures 10% CNS/ATM systems - Communications 15% CNS/ATM systems Data Communications 5% CNS/ATM systems - Navigation 20% CNS/ATM systems Surveillance and data processing 15% ANSP - Systems monitoring and control. 5% Summative assessment 20% Final course 100% Phase 2

17 Conclusion ATNS-ATA is looking forward to take this journey with you in ensuring ATSEP competency. ATNS-ATA is currently finalizing Phase 1 Qualification training to be made available next year. There is ongoing research with regard to equipment training (Phase 2) in order to cater for most suppliers of CNS systems. Success & failure of safe skies begins with training!
