Deal: This position serves as the Chief Information Technology Officer of Patrick Henry Community College. This position is responsible for managing an advanced and evolving information system that supports academic and administrative technology. This position is responsible for the overall administration of the Distance Learning program, Instructional Technology, Information Technology, Library Services, Learning Lab and Testing Center. Additional duties include the administration of the College Information Security program, management of the design, installation, pilot testing, and refinement of the campus network infrastructure and managing the operations of the academic and administrative information systems. Provide input into the college planning process. Collaboratively develop and implement the unit strategic plan to support the college mission and goals with a strong focus on student learning. Provide leadership to implement college procedures for the assessment of student learning outcomes for all programs within the unit. Recommend changes as needed to provide compliance with college and state policies, regulations and procedures including VCCS, SACS, and SCHEV regulations. Collect data as needed. Ensure data is used in decision making whenever possible. Communicate division needs to the Vice-President and interact with upperlevel administrators. Ensure library collection and services support College programs, faculty and student needs for on- and off-campus and distance learning. Guarantee the success of a Quality Matters program where a faculty-centered, peer review process is in place to certify the quality of online courses. Coordinate the selection and application of instructional equipment and materials.
3 Resume David Lynwood Deal 3 Designs, develops, and administers activities that improve the quality and quantity of information resources and computing services at the college. Such activities include the campus infrastructure, computer network, enterprise systems, and support. Assure that college personnel are trained to take optimal advantage of information resources. Position is responsible for staffing, budgeting, and evaluation within the areas of Distance Learning, Instructional Technology, Information Technology, Library Services, Learning Lab and Testing Center. Collaborate with academic and administrative functions as one-on-one and in groups to customize the new technology and to meet operational needs for improvement of programs and processes. Serve as the Chair of the College Technology Committee which serves as a forum for reviewing, recommending and approving technology to fulfill the College s mission. Position serves on college and state committees and task forces such as the Virginia Community College System Technology Council. Position serves as the backup College Information Security Officer for PHCC and administrator of the PHCC Information Technology Security Program. Position is responsible for the Information Technology Departmental procedures, and annual PHCC Technology Plan, and Long-term Information Technology Strategic Plan. Position assures that all programs and services of the Information Technology, Distance Learning, Instructional Learning, Library Services, Learning Lab and Testing Center units adhere to college, VCCS, SACS, and SCHEV policies and procedures. Prepare reports and maintain accurate records as related to area of responsibility for the college s Board of Directors and PHCC Senior Management Team. Recommend an annual budget and administer budget in adherence to college and VCCS policies and procedures. Serve as Ex Officio on the Patrick Henry Community College Planning and Evaluation Committee to periodically evaluate the effectiveness of unit activities and programs. Provide input into the planning process as related to the area. Responsible for institutional research activities on an interim basis and performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic and Student Development Services.
