1 Your Link to MSPs From Across the Nation Learning Objectives 1. Describe the history of NAMSS, strategic initiatives and impact on the industry. 2. History of NAMSS NAMSS firsts: formed in California in 1971 national conference held in 1977 certification process initiated in

Growth of NAMSS Membership grew from initially under 60 members to over 5,700 members in 2016 Membership demographics have changed from primarily traditional hospital credentialing/privileging members to a strong presence of managed care members. Increasing presence of international members New affiliation with the American Health Care Lawyers Association (AHLA) has also enriched and diversified our membership. History of NAMSS (cont.) 3 What Does NAMSS Do for MSPs? Serves as the voice of the profession, advocating on behalf of MSPs across the nation Government Relations & Advocacy Supports state affiliates and associations on the local level Marketing Strategic Objectives Objective 1: Ensure that NAMSS professionals are qualified, skilled and competent in assessing healthcare providers Objective 2: Emphasize NAMSS professionals as the gatekeepers of patient safety and the beginning of the revenue cycle Objective 3: Establish a recognized career leadership pathway for NAMSS professionals who are assessing the competency of healthcare providers Achieving our Objectives Ensure that NAMSS professionals are qualified, skilled and competent in assessing healthcare providers Develop a new competency model which includes additional skills and knowledge areas outside the traditional functions of the profession. 3
