4 Today s Situation The Public knows little of the professional stair industry. Most stairs are built without a professional and little knowledge of the applicable codes or the trade. Public awareness of Professional options will add value for members and the SMA Stairway safety can be improved through the public s recognition and use of SMA educated and certified members.

13 Outline of Program 3 levels Basic to Advanced Company Certification s will be issued based upon certified personnel in critical areas at required levels. Materials will be purchased, candidates must pass test to be certified, certifications will be dated, recertification will be necessary as codes change. Basic and intermediate levels to be introduced at the Fall Education Conference Nov 20-22, 2009 in Providence, RI. Advanced and Company certifications - Spring 10

14 SMA Education Committee Recommends Review full details of the program (posted soon) Designate employee participants Have one person from each department earn the basic certificate. Plan on sending at least one person to the Fall Education Conference, Nov 20-22, 2009 in Providence. RI. Establish a plan to gain company certification by end of 2010.
