2 HPE Serviceguard Solutions Storage Support Matrix The tables on the following pages contain information about storage arrays that are currently supported with HPE Serviceguard Solutions.i.e. HPE Serviceguard, HPE Serviceguard Extension for Oracle RC (SGeRC) and HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite (SG SMS). The tables list the different storage devices and the compatible HPE Serviceguard, SGeRC and SG SMS versions. It also lists the compatible volume managers that can be used for application data along with any known restrictions or requirements applicable for the device. It does not provide detailed product or configuration information. This document is updated regularly. The most recent version can be found at Note: 1. ll storage devices listed in the following tables are supported as cluster arbitration devices (Cluster Lock Disk and Cluster Lock LUN) unless specified otherwise. 2. 11 11 dditional notes for the information in the tables above: Other disks or arrays (not listed in these tables) that are supported for HP-UX may be used on non-shared buses. Oracle RC data is generally required to be stored in RW volumes on Shared () volume groups or Veritas Cluster Volume Manager () disk groups, or can be stored on Cluster File Systems (CFS). To determine if a storage device is supported with the Serviceguard Storage Management Suites, check if the device is supported for VERITS versions,,.1, 5.1SP1 or 6.1 and, and CFS. It is supported to mix Fibre Channel, SS or SCSI mass storage devices within the same Serviceguard cluster. ll storage devices are supported as Serviceguard cluster lock disks, using -based cluster lock or cluster lock LUN unless otherwise noted. It is important to understand what is meant here when this document refers to a Shared Bus. Shared Bus is any bus (SCSI, SS, or Fibre Channel) connected to more than a single node. This is also known as having Multiple Initiators. Generally, the information listed in this document is specifically regarding the use of the device as a shared data disk with Serviceguard, Serviceguard Extension for RC (SGeRC, formerly Serviceguard OPS Edition) or the Serviceguard Storage Management Suites (SG SMS). Unless otherwise noted, the information here does not apply to the use of any device for purposes other than as a shared data disk for Serviceguard, SGeRC, and SG SMS. nother important restriction with Serviceguard and SGeRC is that shared SCSI buses should not contain any non-disk devices (such as DDS tape drives, DLT tape drives or CD-ROM drives). This is because most of these devices do not handle buses with Multiple Initiators properly. This restriction does not apply for Fibre Channel or SS, since Fibre Channel and SS switches provide the needed isolation. ny Fibre Channel or SS Host Bus dapters and Switches supported by HP-UX are also with Serviceguard, SGeRC, and SG SMS. 12 n important note on third-party mass storage HPE only tests HPE mass storage devices to verify that they meet HPE Serviceguard Solutions high availability requirements, therefore full support is provided for these devices only. The sole exception to this is EMC Symmetrix disk arrays. ll mass storage devices listed on this web page are fully supported (with noted exceptions where appropriate) for use with Serviceguard. Some third party mass storage has been tested for basic functionality with HPE Serviceguard, and these devices can be supported for use in Serviceguard clusters if an allowance is granted for the configuration by HPE. These devices are listed in the Third Party Storage Interoperability matrix at: See the details at the bottom of that web page for information on how to request an allowance. There you will find a matrix of third party mass storage devices supported on HP-UX, which also indicates whether or not the device is supported for HPE Serviceguard. Please note that the mass storage devices listed as supported with HPE Serviceguard on this web page are not fully supported in that HPE has not fully tested them and cannot guarantee that they meet all of HPE Serviceguard availability requirements. For support of a cluster with these third party mass storage devices, the third party device vendors, rather than HPE, will take the lead in the support of their mass storage devices with HPE Serviceguard. If you wish to obtain support for a mass storage device listed in the Third Party Storage Interoperability matrix, please contact your HPE representative and request to have an allowance for support of the device.
