5 1 HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A for HP-U 11i v3 Release Notes Announcements The HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite (SG SMS) bundles integrate HPE Serviceguard (SG) with the Veritas Storage Foundation by Veritas. This combination provides powerful database and storage management capabilities while maintaining the mission-critical reliability HPE Serviceguard customers have come to expect. Veritas Storage Foundation (SF) combines the industry-leading Veritas Volume Manager by Veritas (VxVM) and the Veritas File System by Veritas (VxFS) to provide a complete online storage management solution. With SF, physical disks can be grouped into logical volumes to improve disk utilization and eliminate storage-related downtime. In addition, SF can distribute I/O loads across multiple paths to improve performance and move unimportant or out-of-date files to inexpensive storage media. Customers running an Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) environment benefit from enhanced database performance and file system management when utilizing Oracle Disk Manager and the Veritas Storage Foundation Cluster File System by Veritas (CFS) technologies. As integrated solutions, the HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles are supported directly by HP, providing a single point of contact for all of the software in each bundle. The HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite version A bundles for HP-U 11i v3 include HP Serviceguard version A.11.20, and they are: Integrated with the Veritas Storage Foundation version 6.1 products Supported on the HP-U 11i v3 March 2015 Application Release or later operating system Supported only on HPE Integrity Servers NOTE: Mixed OS clusters (clusters that have some nodes running HP-U 11i v2 and other nodes running HP-U 11i v3 ) are not supported with SG SMS bundles that include CVM/CFS (T2xx). For more information see the HP Serviceguard Version A Release Notes at: HPE Serviceguard IMPORTANT: The list of required or recommended patches in Patches and Fixes in this Version (page 36) assumes that you are installing HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite version A bundles on the HP-U 11i v3 March 2015 Application Release, or later. You must upgrade to the HP-U 11i v3 March 2015 Application Release or later, before attempting to install HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite version A bundles. Understanding HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version Identifiers The following Table 2 lists the major components that make up each HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite (SG SMS) version. The SG SMS version number, A.xx.yy.zz, reflects the Veritas Storage Foundation version and the HPE Serviceguard version. The xx increments with Veritas Storage Foundation version changes, the yy increments with HPE Serviceguard version changes, and the zz is reserved for incremental updates to previously released SG SMS versions. For example, with SG SMS version A.01.00, the.01 indicates Veritas Storage Foundation version 4.1 and the.00 indicates HPE Serviceguard version A For each SG SMS version number, the SG SMS product bundles within that version are supported on HP-U 11i v2, on HP-U 11i v3, or on both OS versions. An HP-U 11i v2 bundle will install on HP-U 11i v2 only. An HP-U 11i v3 bundle will install on HP-U 11i v3 only. Announcements 5

These bundles are offered in the configurations listed in Table 2. 7 NOTE: The T8684FB and T868FB bundles include the HA-OE on a separate DVD, and the T8694FB and T869FB bundles include the DC-OE on a separate DVD. These SG SMS operating environment bundles offer cost savings over purchasing and installing a SG SMS bundle (T2xFB) and an HP-U operating environment separately. Licensing fees for products that are included in both the SG SMS (T2xFB) bundle and the HP-U operating environment are avoided when the T868xFB or T869xFB bundles are purchased. See HP-U Operating Environment Upgrade Limitations (page 4) for additional information. These HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite product bundles are shipped on independent media. They are not included on the HP-U Application Release media. Due to the complexity of configuring clusters, you may wish to use Hewlett-Packard s high availability consulting services to ensure a smooth installation and rollout. Please contact your HPE representative to inquire about high availability consulting. In addition, you should work with your HPE representative to ensure that you have the correct firmware revisions for disk drives, disk controllers, LAN controllers, and other hardware. Announcements

8 NOTE: HPE recommends that you read these HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Release Notes and any other related Installation Guides, Release Notes, Read Before Installing Guides, or READMEs before beginning an installation. Requirements and known issues for individual products included in the HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles are documented in their respective Release Notes. See Documentation for this Version (page 20) for information on SG SMS related documentation. Beginning with HP-U 11i v HA-OE/DC-OE, SGeRAC is included as a licensed bundle at no additional cost. To install SGeRAC A on your system during 1503 HA-OE/DC-OE installation, you must select T190BA (SGeRAC) in the Software tab. If you are using any one of the bundles namely, T21DB, T23DB, T24DB, T25DB, T8684FB, T8694FB, T8685DB, T8695DB, T24EB, T8684EB, T8694EB, T24FB, T8684FB, or T8694FB and if you select SGeRAC during upgrade from HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite (SMS) cluster, then this configuration is supported only if Oracle RAC is deployed over SLVM. This happens because these Serviceguard SMS bundles either contain only VxVM which cannot be used for Oracle RAC or they are not Oracle specific bundles. If SGeRAC is not installed as a part of HP-U 11i v HA-OE/DC-OE, it is automatically installed during the installation of Serviceguard SMS bundles (T2DB, T868DB, T869DB,T2EB, T868EB, T869EB, T868FB, T869FB). If SGeRAC is installed with HP-U 11i v HA-OE/DC-OE, then depending upon the available version of Serviceguard and SGeRAC in the SMS bundle, the installation of Serviceguard SMS may succeed or fail. The below discusses the different installation scenarios for Serviceguard SMS bundles: SMS bundle Install SMS bundle which has the same version of Serviceguard and SGeRAC version available on the 1503 HA-OE/DC-OE. Impact on Serviceguard SMS installation Continues the installation of Serviceguard SMS by skipping the installation of Serviceguard and SGeRAC. Install Serviceguard SMS bundle which has a higher version of Serviceguard and SGeRAC version available on the 1503 HA-OE/DC-OE. Installation of Serviceguard SMS follows installation of a higher version of Serviceguard and SGeRAC. Install SMS bundle which has a lower version of Serviceguard and SGeRAC version available on the 1503 HA-OE/DC-OE. Installation of Serviceguard SMS fails indicating that higher Serviceguard version is already available on the system. 9 NOTE: NOTE: For more information on recommended upgrade paths, see Table 5 (page 23), Table 6 (page 24), Table (page 24) and Table 8 (page 26). From HP-U 11i v3, VxVM disks can be configured to use HP-U native multipathing instead of the default Veritas DMP (Dynamic Multi-pathing) by declaring such disks as foreign devices in VxVM. These foreign devices bypass DMP, allowing HP-U native multipathing to have full control on the disks with respect to multipathing and load balancing. However, CVM disks that are sharable VxVM disks must be configured to use DMP. Moreover, on a system with CVM installed, it is not supported to configure even local VxVM disks to bypass DMP. The following HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite product bundles, which were available in the SG SMS Version A release, were discontinued and removed from the price list starting from SG SMS Version A : T21xx T23xx T25xx T8685xx T8686xx T8695xx T8696xx NOTE: Support for these product bundles will continue. What s New with Serviceguard The following Serviceguard features and enhancements are supported in the HPE Serviceguard Storage Management Suite version A bundles for HP-U 11i v3: New features available in Serviceguard: Easy Migration from Legacy Packages to Modular Packages: In this enhancement, Serviceguard introduces a new command, cmeasymigrate. This command can be used to convert Serviceguard legacy toolkit packages to modular packages. Using this command you can also migrate or consolidate multiple legacy or modular CFS packages into a single modular package. This means individual cluster nodes can leave the cluster, be upgraded, and re-join the cluster one at a time. At no time will the entire cluster be halted. Until the last cluster node is upgraded, nodes with different versions of SG SMS can be running in the cluster. Offline Upgrade - The cluster nodes must be taken offline and all nodes must be upgraded with the same SG SMS bundle, see Uninstall - The currently installed SG SMS bundle must be uninstalled before a new SG SMS bundle can be installed, then the software must be reconfigured (the cluster must also be reconfigured, if a CVM/CFS bundle is installed). Table 5 (page 23), Table 6, Table (page 24) and Table 8 (page 26) shows all supported upgrade paths - these upgrade paths do not require an uninstall of the current SG SMS product version. IMPORTANT: Any change from one SG SMS product to another that is not represented in Table 5 (page 23), Table 6, Table (page 24) and Table 8 (page 26) will require an uninstall of the current SG SMS product, installation of a different SG SMS product, then the software must be reconfigured (the cluster must also be reconfigured, if a CVM/CFS bundle is installed). 23 You can do rolling upgrades of any SG SMS bundles within the same horizontal row if the letter R is in the upgrade path. Rolling upgrades of SG SMS bundles that include Veritas Cluster Volume Manager (CVM) or Cluster File System (CFS) are allowed if only the Serviceguard version changes, and the HP-U and Veritas Storage Foundation versions remain the same. Upgrade paths that require an Offline Upgrade, are indicated by the letter O. Skipping ahead within the row, for example, upgrading from a SG SMS version A T24CB bundle to a SG SMS version A T24EB bundle, is supported only if all of the upgrade paths between the currently installed SG SMS version and the SG SMS version you want to upgrade to are marked with an R.
