3 Overview The Learning & Career Development Center, or LCDC, is the registration and tracking system that the YMCA of the USA developed. LCDC was designed to provide the individual user the ability to take control of their career. LCDC is the system required by all Y s to register staff for Y Program or Leadership Competency Trainings, store safety licenses, such as CPR, AED, O2 and FA, along with the participant s official YMCA Transcript. How does Kronos fit into LCDC? It actually doesn t. Kronos is our local YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas onboarding system and although way may ask for similar information the two system do not talk to one another. However Kronos is very important to our staff development because it tracks our Safety Series requirements along with Coachable Me. Steps to Success are ongoing and both of the tools outlined here, Kronos and LCDC, provide resources for continual leadership development. 5 FAQ s: Do I need an LCDC Account? All Y employees and volunteers must have an LCDC account if they are taking a YUSA course. Do I already have an LCDC Account? Yes, if you already have a YExchange account you also have an LCDC account. How can I see what classes are offered in and around Dallas? By logging into LCDC and searching class availability under the Catalog/Schedule section. Does my Kronos information show up in LCDC? No, Kronos is a local HR system for YMCA of Metro Dallas staff. Who has to upload CPR, AED, O2, and FA, into LCDC? All required employees in the Aquatic and Health/Wellness Departments along with some Child Care employees must upload their own CPR, AED, O2, FA into LCDC it will not automatically happen from your Kronos account. This must be redone each year into LCDC. When do I need to have my CPR, AED, O2, and FA uploaded into LCDC? It must be uploaded before you try to register for a course that has any of these certifications as prerequisite. Once uploaded into LCDC it can take up to a business day for approval from YUSA or longer depending on when it is submitted. Who at the Director/Supervisor Level must input recertification credits? Anyone employee who has received their Team Leader Certification, and is working toward Multi- Team/Branch Leader or Organizational Leader will have additional credits to obtain in addition to the courses you must take. Are there registration deadlines for LCDC courses? Class registration closes 2 weeks before each course and this date is published in LCDC under each course. We follow this deadline in order to make required handouts, order meals and provide adequate snack. Is it okay to show up to a YUSA training without being registered? Any individual who shows up, without being registered, will not receive certification. LCDC was designed to check any prerequisites prior to allowing anyone in a course, making it the responsibility of the individual, to register and obtain any prerequisites prior, and not the trainer to check these.
6 How do I cancel myself out of registration? Any participant can cancel themselves out of a class, by the published cancellation date, otherwise the participant cannot cancel themselves out and the branch will be charged for the class fee. Due to the design of LCDC, the trainer, supervisor or Training Director does not have the ability to cancel anyone from any class.
7 How to set up an LCDC Account: Setting up an Account on the LCDC In order to register for a YMCA course, you must access the Learning & Career Development Center (LCDC) and establish a YMCA account. No approval is necessary to establish this account. 1) Sign up for an LCDC account using the following link: From the LCDC log-in page, click on the link to register a new YMCA Account. 2) Fill in your personal information and click create my YMCA account. 3) Access your personal to retrieve the username and password you have been ed and use that information to log on to the LCDC. 4) Change your password as prompted and continue to fill in the personal and YMCA information as requested. 5) When you reach the screen to the right, click on Home at the top of the page. You do not need to request access to the exchange to register for training courses. You are now ready to search and register for classes in the LCDC.
8 How to Upload Outside Licenses: The definition of Outside License, in this case is considered CPR, AED, O2 and FA. Outside licenses are required for all Aquatic and Health/Wellness Certifications. Submit Outside License Complete the form fields on the screen in LCDC and upload a scanned copy of the license to submit for review. Forms submitted without the license attachment will not be approved. Please also ensure that the information displayed on the uploaded copy of the license is legible. In order to approve the document your first name, last name, the provider name and the expiration date (or date issued including the number of years valid) must be clearly displayed. Accepted Providers American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) American Red Cross (ARC) American Heart Association (AHA) National Safety Council (NSC) Y-USA guidelines require that CPR be renewed annually for Aquatics, regardless of the expiration date granted by the issuing agency. When you submit CPR or CPR-PRO using the form below, two CPR licenses will be generated upon approval: one each for Aquatics and Health & Well-being. The CPR license used for Health & Well-being courses can be valid up to two years. The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas requires all employees to pass the Safety Series which provides all non-aquatic staff with the requirements for CPR for YUSA Certifications. Aquatic Staff are provided the opportunities to take or recertify with the appropriate certification necessary for YUSA certifications. Please note: our Kronos system, in HR, does not transfer your required CPR, AED, O2 and FA to YUSA and your LCDC account you must follow the direction above and complete this task on your own.
9 How to Search for Classes: If an employee is interested to know if we are hosting a specific YUSA certification course they can search in LCDC for any class being offered, in the United States, at the time of the search based on the type of course it is. At the bottom of each participants LCDC home page provides you the opportunity the perform a course search or this can be accomplished by selecting Catalog/Schedules at the top of your home page then clicking on the appropriate title. When a class is set up the Training Manager/Instructor has two options. A class can be set up as public or invite only. Types of Classes: -public = can be seen by anyone searching for that specific course and is open for registration to anyone provided the registration deadline has not passed. -invite only = when created a URL link is generated that is then provided to the individuals who you would like to invite to take the course. Once you have located the course you are interested in you can see the Course Details. 12 Payment Options: All registrations have a payment option, at the time of registration, and those appear as either Credit Card or Other. The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas utilizes the Credit Card option for non-dallas YMCA staff; those from Y s outside of our Association. When your supervisor asks or requires you to attend a specific training the credit card option would not be used as you complete your sale of the course. Now, if you decide upon your own to attend a training and it s not fulfilling a job requirement you may be required to pay for this course and a credit card would need to be used at the time of registration. The Other option is what must be clicked, by our staff, when attending a training asked or required by your supervisor. This option will appear directly under the credit card option and must be selected so we can charge your branch for the course. Please note: should you select credit card and advance through the screens toward the checkout on your account there is no way to change that to other. You will need to cancel your registration, register for the course, then select other. Health & Wellness Recertification: if you are trying to recertify either your Foundations of Y Group Exercise or Foundations of Strength & Conditioning, through CEC Credits, you will not be provided the other option and you will be required to supply a credit card for payment at the time of submitting your recertification application and credits. Refunds: Refund requests are outlined on the course page or Regional Training Event page depending on what you are looking at. If a participant is eligible for a refund, and has paid by credit card, they must submit a copy of their payment confirmation page to the Regional Training & Development Director within 30 days of cancellation to receive it. Please note: fees are refunded back on the original credit card and without the payment confirmation this will be occur. Credits: there are no credits! If a participant fails to attend a course and does not request a refund, within 30 days, they will not automatically receive a credit for another course the system does not have that capability.
13 Misc: YUSA designed LCDC so that: Once a class is published in LCDC the start and end date cannot be changed. A price range for all certification courses, in all program areas, was created so and we have selected the mid-range fee for each class that is the price you see upon registration. If are unable to attend after registering, for a class, you must log in and cancel yourself out. If you fail to cancel yourself out, you will be marked as a no-show and the Y is still charged. Each course has a registration deadline and cancellation deadline; failure to meet either deadline will result in either not being able to attend or not being able to cancel. No participant can be added to a roster after the course is over.
