1 Canadian Red Cross Instructor Transfer Pathway First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor Transfer Course For current Instructors of another organization and/or current Red Cross Instructors of another disaplines WE VALUE YOUR EXPERIENCE Our Instructor Transfer Pathway recognizes your current and past training/experience and gives you a fast track to certification. For Instructor candidates who have instructional experience with another first aid program/agency, as a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Trainer, or as an elementary/secondary school educator, we provide options which allow candidates to transfer their previous learnings to become an Instructor with the Red Cross First Aid Program. RED CROSS IS A WORLD LEADER IN FIRST AID & CPR TRAINING Our Instructors are the cornerstone of our learner centered programs. Through our Instructor Development Centres, Instructors are supported with state-of-the-art instructional tools to help them customize the learning environment to the various provincial, industry and personal learning needs of the participants. As a Red Cross Instructor you can apply to work for an established Red Cross Training Partner or support in-house training for your company or organization, or even start your own First Aid Training business. WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES? Prerequisites for the Instructor Transfer Pathway are determined by the discipline you want to teach (I.e. First Aid & CPR courses, Professional Responder courses, Wilderness & Remote First Aid courses). We also offer a simple solution for Instructors who wish to teach multiple disciplines and Instructors who wish to expand their teaching into other program areas. Prerequisites 18 Years of Age Participant level certification in the discipline you wish to teach Complete a skills evaluation WHAT S INVOLVED? The Red Cross Instructor Development Program (IDP) is designed to prepare candidates to support dynamic, learner-centered classroom environments. Depending on your training background, there are two pathways to become a certified Instructor outlined below. Each of the completion criteria of the IDP must be met; however candidates receive recognition for some learning components gained through previous experience. Certification is valid for three years.

2 Canadian Red Cross Instructor Transfer Pathway OPTION 1: INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES WITH PREVIOUS FIRST AID INSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE Option #1 is for First Aid and or CPR Instructors of another agency. This course is designed for you to become a Red Cross Instructor. Must have a current non expired First Aid or CPR Instructor Certification 1 EVALUATE SKILLS AND CHECK PREREQUISITES 2 FUNDAMENTALS OF INSTRUCTIONS 3 DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC CLASSROOM COMPONENT 4 TEACHING EXPERIENCE 4 CERTIFICATION Date: TBD May 23 & 24, 2018 Date: TBD with your (Once registered) Instructor Trainer Candidates with a current Instructor level certification through another recognized First Aid training agency will follow the Instructor Development Pathway above, however they will not be required to complete Step 3. OPTION 2: INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES WITH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AS AN EDUCATOR OR RED CROSS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR/TRAINER Option #2 is for current Instructors or Educators, which hold a participant level First Aid and/or CPR Certification who would like to instruct the Red Cross First Aid and/or CPR Courses 1 EVALUATE SKILLS AND CHECK PREREQUISITES 2 FUNDAMENTALS OF INSTRUCTIONS 3 DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC CLASSROOM COMPONENT 4 TEACHING EXPERIENCE 4 CERTIFICATION Assigned Date: TBD after May 30 & 31, 2018 Date: TBD with your (Once registered) Registered Instructor Trainer Candidates with current certification as a Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Instructor Trainer or are an educator (elementary or secondary level) will follow the Instructor Development Pathway above, however they will not be required to complete the in-class component of Step 2. 3 First Aid and/or CPR/AED Instructor Transfer This course if for those that would like to become a Red Cross CPR/AED Instructor or a First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor. Choose one of the Following Options: Option #1: Current First Aid and/or CPR/AED Instructor with another organization (Course Dates: May 23 & 24, 2018) Option #2: Current Red Cross Instructor or Educator with a participant level First Aid and/or CPR/AED certification (Course Dates: May 30 & 31) Prerequisites Option #1: A current First Aid and/or CPR/AED Instructor Certification Minimum of 18 years of age Prerequisites Option #2: A current Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level HCP Certification (or simply a CPR/AED certification if you wish only to teach CPR) Proof of Instructor (i.e. Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, First Responder Instructor) or educator (Ontario College of Teachers) Minimum of 18 years of age To register, send registration form and proof of the prerequisites listed above to info@durhamfirstaid.com. 5 Cancelation Policy (applies to those that fail to meet prerequisite, no shows, cancelations, etc.): If you are unable to attend your prearranged chosen course or course date you will be able to change to the next course free of charge. Please note that we do not have the next date set. Should you need to switch additional times after this, a $20 administration fee will be charged per change. Should you need to cancel your registration, the following will apply: o A refund minus a $20.00 administration charge will be issued if your request to withdraw from a course is made 5 or more business days prior to the start of the course (i.e. Monday for a Monday course, Friday for a Saturday or Sunday Course). o A refund equal to 50% of the course fee will be issued if a request to withdraw from a course is made less than 5 business days prior to the start of the course. o o No refunds will be issued for those wishing to withdraw once the course has started. If materials have been obtained in advance of the course, all materials must be returned in re-saleable condition before the refund is issued.
