2 About the BCRSP Incorporated in 1976 Accredited to ISO and Certified to ISO 9001 Governed by a Board of 11 (Ten certificants/one Public Member) Mission: The Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals sets certification standards for occupational health and safety professionals.

5 CRSP Minimum Eligibility- Current Requirements Education Required: One (1) year OHS college or university certificate or diploma program OR Two (2) year non-ohs college or university diploma or degree program. Professional Development Demonstrate professional development activities Experience Minimum of three years of continuous OHS experience and current employment (minimum 50% of time spent in OHS) at a professional level.

9 The CRSP Eligibility Criteria is Changing July Applications for the CRSP certification received on or after July will be required to have the following: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (4-year) in any field OR a 2-year diploma (or certificate) in occupational health and safety or a closely related field from a recognized academic institution. At least four (4) years of experience where occupational health and safety is at least 50%, preventative, professional level with breadth and depth of health and safety duties.

10 What do the changes mean for individuals already certified as a CRSP? Requirement in the ISO/IEC Standard under clause and In response to this requirement, Board is considering a number of equivalency options that CRSPs may select from in order to demonstrate compliance with the changes to the certification scheme that will take effect July 1, CRSPs will be required to demonstrate compliance with the new scheme requirements as part of their certification maintenance cycle that occurs after July 1, More information on the Board approved options to demonstrate equivalency will be published in the fourth quarter of 2017.

11 OHS Technician New Certification Development BCRSP is currently developing a new certification scheme aimed at an OHS technician Validation study completed Board decision in January 2018 regarding certification & applicable eligibility criteria.

14 Salary National Average: Salary Range for CRSP $100,000- $109,000 Manitoba Average: Salary Range for CRSP $80,000-89,000 Senior Manager/Director: $110,000 to $119,999 Manager: $100,000 to $109,999 OHS Advisor or Coordinator: $70,000 to $79,999 Source: 2015 CRSP Salary Survey

15 Certification Maintenance Program CRSPs are required to participate in a Certification Maintenance Program 25 points required / 5 year cycle. Points obtained through professional development activities, volunteer activities, contributions to the profession (speaking, authoring research), and professional practice. For professional development: 6 hours of content = 0.5 points

16 Certification Maintenance Program Ways Manitoba CRSPs can obtain points towards their Certification Maintenance: Participate in professional development activities such as the Assembly of Manitoba Safety Professionals, workshops, conferences, seminars. Online learning Colleges, Universities, Training Providers Volunteer for OHS organizations (Boards, Committees, Task Forces, etc.)
