The solution was tested with over a WAN connection with 100 ms RTT latency and 2 Isilon clusters, two Brocade 7840 Extension Switches, and Eyeglass appliance monitoring the clusters and SyncIQ. Brocade 7840 Extension Switch A fixed quantity of data was replicated over the WAN, first with no IP Extension switch present, and then with the IP Extension switch in place, under the following conditions: 0%.01%, 1% and 5% packet loss. The results show the business value of DR optimization and reporting, which are key tools for IT managers to show lowered risk to the businesses critical data. The business case in WAN costs help build a positive business case to optimize DR replication traffic. Even moderate levels of packet loss combined with high latency links can severely impact RPO objectives as shown with Eyeglasses RPO reporting and trending reports.
