2 SYSTEM OVERVIEW: AVAYA MODULAR MESSAGING Focused Vendor Modules (FVMs) THE BRIDGE BETWEEN YOUR NETWORK AND YOUR IT STAFF CTiQ Focused Vendor Modules (FVMs) are software agents that enable the CTiQ Intelligent Management Platform (IMP) to provide unsurpassed visibility into the health and well being of your applications. FVMs operate like a team of highly skilled engineers that constantly monitor and evaluate your system s performance to assure optimal operation and availability. Avaya Modular Messaging REAL- TIME MONITORING WITH CTIQ INTELLIGENT MANAGEMENT PLATFORM (IMP) OVERVIEW SUPPORTED SYSTEMS AVAYA MODULAR MESSAGING 5.0 AVAYA MODULAR MESSAGING 5.1 AVAYA MODULAR MESSAGING 5.2 Messaging, or Voice Mail, is often looked upon as a commodity. However, with the advent of IP Telephony and Unified Messaging (Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes and Smartphone integration), the architecture and delivery of this simple function has grown vastly complex. Multiple servers, services and integrations are required for Unified Messaging to run smoothly. WHAT IT DOES The CTiQ Avaya Modular Messaging (MM) FVM provides unsurpassed visibility and focuses troubleshooting efforts so that enterprises can fully capture the benefits of Unified Messaging, while maintaining optimal uptime. The CTiQ Modular Messaging FVM automatically discovers the elements of your Messaging solution, both physical (Servers) and logical (Signaling and Trunk Groups). To visually depict these co- dependent components the CTiQ Modular Messaging FVM will also create dynamic Dependency Trees. WHAT IT MONITORS CTiQ Intelligent Management Platform (IMP) will proactively monitor these complex interactions and integrations. Multiple Events, Alarms and Polling Data are aggregated and presented in Live Dashboards. These Dashboards give at- a- glance views of system health that are easily customized to meet business and technical needs. Outages or degradation are indicated on the Dashboard and Dependency Tree, while IMP immediately alerts the proper engineering resources for troubleshooting and remediation.

These trees map and correlate all of the resources required by a particular service or application. This correlation puts alarms in context and enables engineers to pinpoint the root cause of the alarm, which makes rapid trouble resolution possible. A dashboard monitor gives an immediate visual indication of an alert and its severity. These monitors show you the Effect or the affected application. Simply drill down into the underlying Dependency Tree to easily pinpoint the location of the Cause. The following screenshots show the complexity of a Modular Messaging System multiple servers, each running various services and processes, as well as Signaling & Trunk Groups. The Trunk Groups depicted below represent a nested Dependency Tree. It works by expanding the tree to display the associated Trunk Group Members and C LAN, itself a nested Tree, which then includes the Port Network Tree.

Should the C- LAN above lose its Ethernet connection, responders will know the full context and will see the domino effect of that cause. EXAMPLE #1 The IT team will understand the context Modular Messaging is degraded (yellow alert), but not down. MAS- 1 and MAS- 2 are still fully functioning. Responders will focus their remediation efforts on the C- LAN in question: Board Ethernet Switch Patch Cable, etc. This pinpoint monitoring eliminates Tier- 1 and 2 troubleshooting, and streamlines the issue directly to Tier C- LAN 42A02 is offline 2. Signaling Group 59 is offline 3. Trunk Group 58 is offline 4. MAS- 3 has lost its integration to ACM (Trunk Group 58) REPORTING Reports can be scheduled to run weekly or monthly, and be can delivered via e- mail.
