These transformers provide a low cost, high quality solution to simplify the implementation of HomePlug AV products. This family of couplers is designed primarily to complement Bel s / and / HomePlug AV Powerline modules in wallplug and AC corded designs. A complete isolation and coupling solution is provided by a single part, selected according to application. 2 SCHEMATICS Black 7 Grey Grey APPLICATION NOTES The following schematics show some typical applications combinations for the Bel , , , and HomePlug AV Powerline modules with the appropriate couplers and associated circuitry. The following notes should be observed.. The first transient protection device MOV should be rated at 0V for V AC operation and at least 7V for 0V operation.. Inductors L and L provide high frequency isolation which is particularly important with switching power supplies where a capacitor is present across the input terminals. The inductors should have good performance in the Powerline band between and 0 MHz.. DC blocking capacitor C should be an X class device.. Trace widths for the TX and RX signals to the coupling transformer should be between 0.00 (0. mm) and 0.00 (0.7 mm) in order to accommodate the low impedances involved and the high current densities.. Trace width between the power line side of the coupling transformer and the actual power line should be no less than 0.0 to 0.00 (. mm).. These trace lengths should be kept as short as possible for a good high frequency performance.. Parallelism (differential transmission line layout technique) should be used throughout for these three signal pairs..
