Scale Configuration EtherNet/IP option part number 24660B-421C0 It is suggested having knowledge of the GSE 60 Series parameters and programming and also EtherNet/IP before trying to configure the indicator and EtherNet/IP option. IMPORTANT: The EtherNet/IP option will begin communicating when the indicator is powered up. Therefore, it is imperative to default the indicator to factory settings and load the indicator configuration file before installing the EtherNet/IP option into the indicator. Follow the steps below for setup. Refer to Section 1 for option installation instructions Default the Indicator to Factory Settings Model 465, 560, and 660 Series 1. Access the setup mode by keying in [100] [SELECT] [23640] [ID] [ENTER]. 2. Go to the default parameter by keying in [65002] [SELECT] 3. Press [ENTER]. The display will prompt Sure???? 4. Press [ENTER] to accept the default. The display will blank out momentarily and return to the P65002 display. 5. Press [ZERO] [CLR] [ENTER] [ENTER] to exit and save the defaulted parameters Series 1. Access the setup mode by pressing [ZERO] + [SELECT] 2. then [SELECT] [ZERO] [PRINT] [UNITS] [TARE] 3. Go to the default parameter by keying in [6] [5] [0] [0] [2] [SELECT] 4. Press [TARE]. The display will prompt Sure???? 5. Press [TARE] to accept the default. The display will blank out momentarily and return to the P65002 display. 6. Press [ZERO] [CLR] [ENTER] [ENTER] to exit and save the defaulted parameters Install Communication Cable Connect a communication cable from the computer RS-232 serial port to any available RS-232 communication port of the indicator. Be sure the indicator and computer protocol match. The RS-232 cable is used to load the indicator configuration file. 1

8 GSE EtherNet/IP Option 1.3. Installing the Configuration File Download Text File from Knowledge Base Go to for configuration files. Enter ethernet_ip into the Search by Keyword box. Download the file which matches the indicator series being used. 46X is the Model 460 and Model 465, 56X and 66X is for the 560 and 660 Series Load the File into the Indicator Open the.txt file in a communication software program of your choice. Load the file into the indicator. The indicator will display the file as it loads but it will be moving too fast to read. 2

9 Section 2. EtherNet/IP Option Installation 2.1. Hardware Installation 1. Remove the 16 pin socketed RS-232 IC chip and jumper from U17 (560 and 660 Series) or U2 (460/465). Refer to Figure Insert the three double ended spacers into the holes surrounding the RS-232 IC socket on the main board. 3. Insert one single ended spacer into the EtherNet/IP option board. 4. Carefully align the option above the RS-232 socket. Line up the double ended spaces with the holes on the main board. Gently but firmly press the option board into place. SBM Options Along with the EtherNet/IP Option Model 460 Due to the physical size of the Model 460, it is not possible to install any SBM modules inside the enclosure when the EtherNet/IP option is installed Model 465, 560 and 660 Series If more than one SBM module is being installed on the main board, four additional 10 mm aluminum standoffs extensions GSE P/N will be required. Refer to Figure 3 for an illustration of SBM option installation. 3

11 2.3. Ethernet Cable Installation It is necessary to connect the indicator to a computer via Ethernet cable to set the EtherNet/IP option address. A cross over cable is required. NOTE: If the cross over cable is not the permanently installed cable, do not follow the steps below until after the EtherNet/IP address is set. 1. Install the CAT 5 cable without the connector attached through the strain relief to the left of the Comm port connector (J6 560/660 Series, J5 460/465). Refer to Figure 2 NOTE: If installing in the Model 460, the cable must pass through the strain relief and the hole on the main board. Refer to Figure Install connector on CAT 5 cable. 3. Plug the CAT 5 cable connector into the receptacle on the EtherNet/IP option board. Be sure to leave some slack in the cable to minimize tension on the option connector. Refer to Figure Tighten the cable strain relief around the cable Connect Ethernet cable to Computer After the Ethernet cable is connected to the EtherNet/IP option in the indicator, plug the other end into the network receptacle of the computer. Go to Section 1 for instruction on how to set the computer IP address. 5

12 GSE EtherNet/IP Option Section 3. Configure IP addresses The IP address will need to be set in the computer to a static address in order to communicate with the EtherNet/IP option. Use the follow steps to set the IP address Set the Computer IP Address Start > Control Panel > Network Connections Click on Network Connections Right click on Local Area Connection and then click on Properties 6

13 Scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the Properties button Click on the Use the following IP address choice to set the computer address. 7

14 GSE EtherNet/IP Option Enter an IP address which is close to that of the EtherNet/IP option just by changing the last number group. Example: Ethernet IP address The computer IP address could be Set the EtherNet/IP Option IP Address Open Internet Explorer or equivalent internet browser on the computer. Enter in the address bar of the internet browser and press the [ENTER] key. The EtherNet/IP home page should be displayed. See Section 1 for Webserver details. 8
