3 New Heart for the DIGIDIM System The new DIGIDIM Router system uses standard Ethernet communication to combine DALI networks seamlessly together. The modularity allows a fully scaleable system, from a single office room to the largest office building. Basic functionality is available out-of-box without any programming. Advanced functionality is achieved with Windows based programming software. Each individual router can operate two DALI subnets containing up to 64 control devices and load interfaces on each. The system provides energy saving features via presence detection and constant light functionality. Further automation can be achieved through scheduled events. OPC server software enables interfacing to the building management systems. Ultimate Reliability All data is stored within the system itself to eliminate the need for PC control in daily operation. The elimination of a central controller ensures no single point of failure can cause a total system shutdown. A PC can be connected to system for diagnostics and logging purposes if required. 4 System Basics DIGIDIM router is the central element of the DIGIDIM product range. The router allows seamless connection of a large number of DALI products and other DIGIDIM products. DIGIDIM systems are programmed by using the Helvar Designer software running on a Windows based computer, either locally or remotely. After programming, the computer can be disconnected as it is not required for normal day to day functionality of the system. The computer can also be used to monitor and report system status. 6 Helvar Designer Software In addition to connecting control devices and load interfaces, the Router also connects to Designer Software via its Ethernet network connection. The Helvar Designer software suite is based on the familiar look and feel of Microsoft Windows Explorer. The graphical user interface is intuitive and very simple to learn. The Designer Software provides a set of fully integrated tools that allow the user to: Design Create designs off-line in the comfort of your office or work on-line to create or fine tune your lighting system design Add system components at the click of a single button Design the actual lighting system. Backup a real system for later examination in the office. Copy, paste, import and export scene data directly to/from Microsoft Excel Three levels of password protection Program Name scenes, panels and load interfaces Program scenes and fade times Create scene links, sequences or cycles Create room partition arrangements Monitor & log Live monitoring of scenes or channels Live colour coded error alerts Log interval time selection Log entries automatically time stamped Log to window and/or disk in Microsoft Excel compatible format Schedule Fully automated calendar and Astronomical time based scheduling for recalling timed events and scene recall Auto-recovery of scheduling after power failure Complex conditional events can easily be programmed

7 Digidim Router specification DALI Dali1 and Dali2 subnets each with a 250mA DALI supply and support up to 64 addresses. No limitations to the mix of DALI components connected. Scenes Each Load has 128 scenes. Groups Devices can be freely grouped, independently of subnet or router they are connected to. A control sub-device can target a single group. A load interface can be in multiple groups. Buttons Can issue scene recall of fixed light or constant light, toggle function, up/down control and scene store. PIR Presence detection. Co-operative action when multiple sensors added to the same group. Constant Light Multiple out-groups allow graduated constant light. Routing entries Entries allow complex operation according to the conditions set. Examples: Group 1 messages redirected to Group 2 if recalled between 7am and 5pm. Other types of routing entries are: links, sequences/cycles and Corridor hold. Conditions Can be applied to Routing entries, buttons and schedules. Schedules Real time astronomic clock in each Router. Selectable daylight saving. Clock will run for several days following loss of power to Router. Installation Note Control devices need to be DIGIDIM version 4 or later. These are compatible with, and may be connected to the same DALI line as load interfaces.
