Contents 1. General 1. General Basic information about the KNX/EIB BUS Application versions Symbols Function description Short description of the function module Parameter setting Setting the device's parameters Overview of parameter setting with the ETS Communications objects Parameters Using the KNX functions Basic information about the KNX/EIB BUS A KNX commissioning and projecting course is required for these instructions to be understood. Before you can work with them, B.E.G. applications need to be imported into the ETS software. This can be done using the ETS menu items: File Import, then select and import application. Attention: It is important to check the objects' data types. For instance, a one-bit object can only work with a onebit object from another device. 1.2 Application versions KNXnet/IP Interface application: = KNX Interface Article number: KNXnet/IP Interface Web 6. KNX function configuration Configuration details Maintenance and upgrade Resetting to the factory settings Technical data Symbols Various symbols are employed in the following application description to provide a better overview. These symbols are explained briefly below. Attention: This symbol draws attention to passages of text you must absolutely read to prevent errors in project planning and commissioning. Recommendation: This symbol points to parameter settings which experience has shown allow the device to be used in the best way possible. MAN XXXX Page 1 of 14

1.4 Function description The KNXnet/IP Interface Web is a KNXnet/IP gateway with integrated Web server for operating and monitoring KNX systems. Standard Web browsers on PCS or mobile end devices (PDA, mobile phones) may be used to operate the unit. In addition to the Web server, the KNXnet/IP Interface Web also offers a KNXnet/IP-tunnel connection and an additional object server connection that may be used in parallel. This creates a variety of application possibilities: - Clear visualisation of up to 40 functions via the integrated Web server - KNX-system parameters may be set and diagnosed and the systems may be taken into operation via Ethernet using ETS 3 - Most KNXnet/IP-based software products may be connected to the KNX system. Connection to visualisation systems 1.5 Short description of the function module Web-based visualisation: The KNXnet/IP Interface WEB possesses an integrated Web server. This means that the connected KNX system may be operated and monitored from any PC or mobile end device (mobile phone, PDA) through a standard browser. Up to 40 optional KNX functions may be displayed on the operating pages. Up to 80 communications objects are available for the functions. The functions may be clearly laid out over up to five display pages. The communications objects may be configured and assigned to group addresses as usual with the ETS. A Web configuration page allows the layout to be individually modified. 2. Parameter setting 2.1 Setting the device's parameters The device's parameters may be set in a basic parameterisation using the ETS. The data types of the 40 available functions may be defined along with the network parameters for communication in the connected IP network. All further layout and design settings may be comfortably set directly in the device through a browser. The ETS provides the following functions: No function Switching with feedback Switching without feedback Feedback Presence Dimming Blinds/slats 1 byte relative (0..100%) 1 byte value (0..255) 2-byte floating point value (EIS 5) 4-byte floating point value (EIS 9) 2-byte counter (EIS10) 4-byte counter (EIS11) Call up / save scene 1 bit Call up / save scene 8 bits 2.2 Overview of parameter setting with the ETS A specific device name may be assigned and additional basic settings for the device may be made on the "General" page in the ETS parameterisation. KNXnet/IP tunnel connection: Client software products (e.g. ETS 3) that are based on the KNXnet/IP tunnel protocol may be used to connect to the KNXnet/IP Interface Web. This means that the KNX systems may be comfortably configured and taken into operation through IP networks. This includes, among other things, the type of identification and the assignment of an IP address. The default setting is that the IP address is procured from a DHCP server. When this option is deactivated, the device will initialise using a specified IP address and subnet mask. This case also allows a standard gateway or router to be defined to allow subscribers on the Internet or in another network to be contacted. A fixed IP address is recommended when the system is used as a visualisation server due to the fact that the server can then always be contacted in the gateway under this assigned fixed number. A user name and password may also be defined to protect access to the Web pages. MAN XXXX Page 2 of 14

Users may through an additional parameter decide whether the user-defined parameters that may be set directly through the Web pages should be initialised or kept. The address, IP subnet mask and the IP standard gateway if desired may be set on the IP Config 1 and IP Config 2 pages when a fixed IP address is used for address assignment. The four bytes of the respective parameters will be shown individually here, whereby the value range for each byte is The function types may be selected from a pulldown list: The IP standard gateway may be set on the IP Config 2 page when the address is assigned manually. The standard gateway is for sending IP telegrams The 40 available functions result in up to 80 communications objects for connecting to the group addresses. The "Blinds/Slats" user function, for example, provides two communication objects in accordance with the EIS definition. that are addressed to computers outside the local network. The default (invalid) address of must be used when the device is only used within an internal network without a standard gateway. The network time-outs may be set on the detail page. The default settings should only be modified on the network administrator's express instructions. The desired function types may be set on the four configuration pages for functions: MAN XXXX Page 3 of 14

4. Parameters The following parameters are available in the application: General parameter page Parameter Settings General parameters Device name B.E.G. KNXnet/IP Interface Web This parameter specifies the device's name. The name allows the device to be later identified in the visualisation. IP address assignment Fixed IP address DHCP The KNXnet/IP Interface Web may be assigned either a fixed IP address or a dynamic address from a DHCP server. IP start option Always use DHCP Use fixed IP, if DHCP not available. This parameter will only become visible if DHCP was selected in the address-assignment settings. This mode also allows the choice to be made whether to always use DHCP or to use a fixed IP address after a defined time if DHCP is not available. This time is described in the fullaccess Detail tab, see below. Send read request for updating object values after reboot Yes No This is where the decision is made whether the device should query the 40 functions (80 objects) from the BUS at reboot. User name Free four characters The Web pages of the KNXnet/IP Interface Web may be protected through the definition of a user name. Password Free four characters The Web pages of the KNXnet/IP Interface Web may be protected through the definition of a password. Initialise Web presentation Yes No The user-defined settings made through the Web configuration pages may be initialised during the ETS download. Config 1 parameter page Parameter Settings IP address / 1 st byte 0 IP address / 2 nd byte 0 IP address / 3 rd byte 0 IP address / 4 th byte 0 IP address / 1 st byte 0 IP address / 2 nd byte 0 IP address / 3 rd byte 0 This is where the KNXnet/IP Interface Web's standard IP address may be specified. If DHCP mode has been set, this address will be permanently overwritten with the address from the DHCP server. The IP address is invalid; it is only useful when a DHCP server has been activated. Subnet Mask / 1 st byte 255 Subnet Mask / 2 nd byte 255 Subnet Mask / 3 rd byte 255 Subnet Mask / 4 th byte 255 This is where the KNXNET/IP INTERFACE WEB's standard IP subnet mask may be specified. If DHCP mode has been set, this mask will be permanently overwritten with the address from the DHCP server. The unit must have the appropriate subnet mask to work if it is programmed without DHCP server (fixed IP address setting). Config 2 parameter page Parameter Settings IP address default router / 1 st byte 0 IP address default router / 2 nd byte 0 IP address default router / 3 rd byte 0 IP address default router / 4 th byte 0 The standard router is for sending UDP telegrams that are addressed to computers outside the local network. If DHCP mode has been set, this address will in all cases be permanently overwritten by the DHCP server. It will be assumed that no router is to be used if the DHCP server does not send an address for a router. The default (invalid) address ( ) must be used when the device has been set to work without standard router. MAN XXXX Page 5 of 14

Function 1.10 parameter page Parameter Settings Function type No function Switching without feedback Switching with feedback Feedback Presence Dimming Blinds 1 byte relative (0-100%) 1-byte counter (0-255) 2-byte float (EIS 5) 4-byte float (EIS 9) 2-byte counter (EIS 5) 4-byte counter (EIS 10) 4 bytes unsigned (EIS11) Call up / program scene, 1 bit Call up / program scene, 1 byte This is where the communications object's data and function type may be defined. This parameter may be set for all 40 functions. Detail parameter page Parameter Settings Communications timeout 5 s 1 s 10 s 20 s 30 s 60 s This parameter defines the time-out during IP communication, i.e. the connection will be terminated if the client doesn't respond to a query after this time. DHCP time-out 5 s 30 s 1 min 2 min This setting defines the time after which a fixed IP address is to be used when no DHCP server is available. 5. Using the KNX functions All the defined functions in the preset condition will be displayed once the ETS has been loaded to the device. This layout may be changed by the operator with the help of the Web configuration page. The visualisation pages will then be automatically built up and displayed to the operator as follows: The Web pages may be accessed via the IP address that was assigned in the ETS configuration. i.e. for example, The login screen will always be displayed after the Web page of the KNXnet/IP Interface Web has been launched through the corresponding IP address: MAN XXXX Page 6 of 14

The Web pages are protected by a user name and password. Once the access data configured in the ETS has been entered (an empty field is also possible here!), it will be possible to branch either to the visualisation or configuration view using the buttons at the bottom of the Web page. The 40 possible KNX functions may be distributed as desired across the five pages. Each function consists of a description field on the left side, a panel with one or two buttons on the right and, where appropriate, a status feedback message on the left next to the keys: Branch to configuration page Branch to visualisation page After the visualisation page has been called up, the menu page will be displayed with an overview of all configured pages: The corresponding function may be executed by clicking the respective button. The status feedback will then provide immediate feedback. Purely status functions do not have any buttons will only display statuses and values. It is possible to navigate to neighbouring pages by using the arrow buttons in the page's header: The Home button at the left edge of the header may alternatively be used to jump back to the menu page. The refresh button on the right causes the displayed page and all status and value displays in the browser to be refreshed. Clicking the page descriptions (labels) will take the user directly to the corresponding page: MAN XXXX Page 7 of 14

6. KNX function configuration The layout and assignment of the functions to the individual tabs may be set on a configuration page. The configuration page may be called up with the corresponding button in the login screen. The configuration page will then be displayed in the browser window as follows: The following global settings are possible: Reload interval If required, automatic refresh intervals may be defined in the first input field with a minimum refresh rate of two seconds. Scan time (ms) This is where the time for long key presses may be defined (dimming and blinds function). Programming time This is where the time for programming process recognition (scene programming) may be defined. The description texts for the five operating pages may be entered in the section under that. A maximum of 16 characters is available for each entry. The configuration page's header provides information about the current firmware version: A drop-down menu in the centre allows the desired language for the configuration page to be set. Possible languages are: English German Spanish French Greek Italian Dutch Portuguese Turkish Chinese Language changes will only become effective when a one-off download of the language chosen in the drop-down menu to the device is carried out after the "Send" key has been pressed and the page has then been refreshed in the browser. Two command buttons on the right of the header permit the loading and writing of the set configuration to and from the device. Pressing the "Reload" button reads the configuration from the device and displays it. Pressing the "Send" button will write the displayed and modified configuration into the device. The global settings may be defined in the top section of the configuration page. The page labels and parameters for the individual functions (control elements) may be set in the central section: All functions that were linked to a group address in the ETS will be displayed in the central section. A table with the following information will be displayed: Number (from the ETS, can't be changed in the browser) Communications object number for the corresponding object. Address (from the ETS, can't be changed in the browser) The group address associated in the ETS with the communications object. Type (from the ETS, can't be changed in the browser) Function type configured in the ETS. Label (parameter may be changed in the browser) Label text for this function. A maximum of 20 characters is possible here. A return may be inserted at the end of the description line and the text will then be displayed in two lines. View (parameter may be changed in the browser) Function display type, see configuration details below. Page (parameter may be changed in the browser) Assignment to the page on which the function is displayed. All 40 functions may be displayed on one page. A scroll-bar will appear from the 10 th function on a page. MAN XXXX Page 8 of 14

Parameters (parameters may be changed in the browser) Any additional parameters necessary for the corresponding function, see configuration details below. 7. Configuration details Several layouts are available for each basic data type (in accordance with ETS configuration) Individual layouts may be selected in accordance with the set function type from a pull-down menu in the "View" column. Function type: Switching with feedback Switching without feedback This is where users may select whether the button is to be an On/Off button (two buttons) or only an On, Off or Toggle button (one button each). The following design will, for example, be displayed when the "On/Off button" view has been selected: While the following layout with a central button will be shown when a single-button function, e.g. "ON button" has been selected: If a view with light is selected, the 0 I symbol will be replaced with an ICON showing a lamp for buttons and feedback, i.e. with light ON/OFF: The parameter field on the configuration page is disabled with this function type. MAN XXXX Page 9 of 14

Function type: Feedback The following settings are possible with the 1-bit "Feedback" function: When the dimming function is used, the respective illumination will be switched in response to a short press of the button and dimmed in response to a long press of the button. Value 1 (0..100%) is always used as the dimming increment. Function type: Blinds/slats The view and parameter field on the configuration page are disabled with this function type. The blinds function will be shown in the following design: Depending on the selection, different ICONS will be shown in the feedback field. When the blinds function is used, a long press of the button will move the blinds and a short press will adjust the slats. Function type: 1 byte relative (0..100%) This function allows 1-byte values shown from 0 to 100% to be displayed as the status or sent to the bus. The setting may be made according to the following selection: The parameter field on the configuration page is disabled with this function type. Function type: Presence The following settings are possible with the 1-bit "Presence" function: The "Only display view" setting means that the function will only display the status for a value from % and is shown as follows: This is where it is possible to set whether the switch function is to be switched by two buttons (ON/OFF) or by a single central button (TOGGLE). The value may be changed in steps using the two "+ / - buttons". The increments may be set in the parameter field on the configuration page, e.g. 10. The view will then be as follows: The parameter field on the configuration page is disabled with this function type. Function type: Dimming The view and parameter field on the configuration page are disabled with this function type. The dimming function will be shown in the following design: The value may be clicked and changed in the display field with the "Set variable value" setting. The value set will then be sent to the bus when the key is pressed. The parameter field on the configuration page doesn't have a function with this selection. The view will then be as follows: The fixed value set in the parameter field on the configuration page will be sent to the bus when the key is pressed with the "Set fixed value" setting. The view will then be as follows: MAN XXXX Page 10 of 14

Function type: 1-byte value (0..255) This function allows 1-byte values shown from to be displayed as the status or sent to the bus. The setting may be made according to the following selection: Function type: 2-byte floating comma (EIS5) This function allows 2-byte values from the EIS 5 [ ] data type to be displayed as the status or sent to the bus. The setting may be made according to the following selection: The first four settings here correspond to those in the "1 byte relative [0..100%]" function type (see above). A further "Heating mode" selection allows this mode to be set for suitable room temperature controls. The keys allow settings to be switched between comfort mode, standby mode, nightreduction and protection mode. Once the selection has been made, the corresponding 1-byte value will be sent in accordance with the following assignment depending on the selected mode: Comfort mode Value = 1 Standby mode Value = 2 Night mode Value = 3 Protection mode Value = 4 Functionally, the settings and the resulting views correspond to those with Function Type 1 byte relative [0..100%], see above. However, it must be noted that the "+/- buttons" or "Set value" setting only allows whole numbers (i.e. 1, 2, 5, 10) to be entered in the parameter field, 0.5 would therefore not be permitted. Function type: 4-byte floating comma (EIS9) This function allows 4-byte values of the EIS 9 [- 9,999, ,999,999] data type to be displayed as the status. The view and parameter field on the configuration page are disabled with this function type. Function type: 2-byte counter (EIS10) This function allows 2-byte values of the EIS 10 [0..65,535] data type to be displayed as the status or sent to the bus. The setting may be made according to the following selection: The mode will be displayed as follows: Comfort mode Standby mode Night mode Protection mode Functionally, the settings and the resulting views correspond to those with Function Type 1 byte relative [0..100%], see above. However, it must be noted that the "+/- buttons" or "Set value" setting only allows whole numbers (i.e. 1, 2, 5, 10) to be entered in the parameter field, 0.5 would therefore not be permitted. Function type: 4-byte counter (EIS11) This function allows 4-byte values of the EIS 11 [0..99,999,999] data type to be displayed as the status or sent to the bus. The setting may be made according to the following selection: Functionally, the settings and the resulting views correspond to those with Function Type 1 byte relative [0..100%], see above. However, it must be noted that the "+/- buttons" or "Set value" setting only allows whole numbers (i.e. MAN XXXX Page 11 of 14

1, 2, 5, 10) to be entered in the parameter field, 0.5 would therefore not be permitted. Function type: Call up / program scene, 1 bit This function type allows users to define an operating element in order to call up or program scenes. The setting is made here whether two scenes are only called up through a 1-bit object or called up and programmed through two 1-bit objects. Selecting "Call up Scene 1/2" will send the first communications object with Value 0 and thus call up Scene 1 when the first button is pressed. When the second button is pressed, Value 1 will be sent through the object thus calling up Scene 2. When "Call up / save scene" is selected, a distinction between a short and long press of the button is made. A short press of the button will send the object value from the parameter field. A long press of the button will also set the upper-most bit (e.g. short press of the button 0, long press of the button 128). This allows the programming function for scene components and suitable switching actuators to be enabled. Remark: the KNXnet/IP Interface Web does not manage its own scenes, it is only for programming and calling up scenes that have been saved in separate scene components. The view is presented in the following form with the two selection types: When "Call up / save Scene 1/2" is selected, a distinction between a short and long press of the button will be made. A short press of the button here will send the first communications object for calling up the respective scene. A long press of the button will send the second communications object, also with Values 0 or 1 depending on the button pressed. Remark: the KNXnet/IP Interface Web does not manage its own scenes, it is only for programming and calling up scenes that have been saved in separate scene components. The view is presented in the following form with the two selection types: Function type: Call up / program scene, 8 bit This function type allows users to define an operating element in order to just call up scenes or to call them up and reprogram them through an 8-bit object. The scene numbers and the resulting object value are set in the function's parameter field on the configuration page. When "Call up scene" is selected, the communications object will be sent with the set value (e.g. = 0) and thus the scene called up (e.g. Scene 1) when the key is pressed. MAN XXXX Page 12 of 14

8. Maintenance and upgrade The KNXnet/IP Interface Web possesses the comfortable feature of allowing a firmware upgrade to be carried out without the unit having to be removed. Future further developments may therefore be uploaded through the IP connection without any great effort. The upgrade page may be loaded as follows: 9. Resetting to the factory settings The device may be reset to the factory settings by switching on the power while holding the programming key down. This will carry out a fundamental reset and reset the device to the factory settings with the physical address of The update file may be selected with the "Search" button and then loaded into the unit with the "Press" button. The update version is indicated by the number behind the V, e.g. Version Update files with the "All" included in the file name (UpgradeVxxxBE- GAll.bin) will overwrite all device data. Any previous parameterisation will be deleted during the update and the device will be reset to the factory settings. A partial update (without deleting the parameter data) may also be available. The process of updating may take several seconds. The device will then start automatically with the new firmware. MAN XXXX Page 13 of 14
