Select item Settings->Drivers in the Navigation Area. If not yet checked, check CIFX Device Driver. If this entry is not shown, then close SYCON.NET, install the Device Driver from the Hilscher Communication Solutions DVD. You can find it in the following folder: Driver and Toolkit->Device Driver (NXDREV-WIN)->Installation Double-click cifx Device Driver Setup.exe to start the device driver installation. After succesfull installation of the devcie driver, restart the system and open again SYCON.net. Continue with topic 1.3.

Select item Settings->Drivers->Device Assignment in the Navigation Area. If the CIFX card and the CIFX device driver are properly installed, the device list should show the CIFX card. Check the card entry click the Apply button.

Select item Settings->Drivers->Firmware Download in the Navigation Area. Open the firmware file open dialog and navigate to the following folder on the Communication Solutions DVD: Firmware->CIFX Select the file name cifxpns.nxf. Attention! Do not select the file name cifxpnm.nxf! This is the firmware for the PROFINET IO Controller (Master) CIFX card! The CIFX card as PROFINET IO Device (Slave) requires the firmware file cifxpns.nxf. Click the Open button.

Click the Download button to start the transfer to the CIFX card. Picture 9: Firmware download confirmation question. Click Yes to confirm firmware download.

Select item Configuration->General in the Navigation Area. Enter the unique device (station) name of the IO device. This name has to match to the device name in your IO controller s configuration. The IO controller uses this device name at startup to assign an IP address to this IO device (slave). Click the Apply button to save the setting.

Select item Configuration->Device Settings in the Navigation Area. Select the Start of bus communication Radio Button Automatically by device. With this setting the cifx card automatically starts the communication with the IO controller as soon as the card is initialized. Click the Apply button to save the setting.

Click Add Module to add a new Slot with a new I/O module. Select the module type (input or Output) and the size of the module from the drop down list. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for further modules as required. Click the Apply button to save the settings.

When the PROFINET communication works properly the diagnostic screen should show the Device, Network and Configuration states as shown in the above picture.

Save the configuration into a meaningful folder and file name. Exit the SYCON.net program. Note! Since the CIFX card doesn t support multiple concurrent program access it is mandatory to close the SYCON.net software before the S7A driver is started.

Uncheck the check box Driver controls Bus startup. For a PROFINET IO Device (Slave) the Bus is automatically started up by the cifx card. See also topic 1.10 cifx Device Settings.

Give the device an unique name. This device name will be part of the ifix I/O address or OPC item id. Enable the device.

Select Inputs (I) from the Memory Area combo box. The inputs represent the data read from the Profibus slaves. The structure depends on the slave configuration created by the Sycon.net configuration tool. Set the Starting Address. This address is a byte offset within the input data area of the

Set the desired polling rate. Enable the data block Configure a new data block for output data Picture 25: Configuration of the output data block. Give the data block an unique name. Select Outputs (I) from the Memory Area combo box. The outputs represent the data written to the PROFINET Slave. The structure depends on the slave configuration created by the Sycon.net configuration tool. Set the Starting Address. This address is a byte offset within the output data area of the PROFINET Slave. Set the No. of Elements. This is the length (in bytes) of the output area of the PROFINET Slave. Set the Primary Rate to a valid value. Since the output data area can be read and written by the driver, the polling can be avtivated for this block. It allows to read back the current output data area of the PROFINET Slave. Enable the data block.

Enter a valid configuration file name (extension has to be S7A) and press Save button to store the new configuration.

Save the new settings by clicking the OK button.

23 S7A Driver: Connecting to a Hilscher CIFX-RE as PROFINET IO Device (Slave) Page 23 3 Check the runtime operation via S7A Power Tool 3.1 Check for valid license To verify if the S7A Driver / OPC Server is licensed (runs without time limitation) you can check the statistics information of the root entry within the S7A Power Tool Open the License Information Screen in the Power Tool Picture 30: S7A License information. Select the root entry S7A in the driver s object tree view. Click the Statistics button. The fields License and Serial No should show one of the following combinations of information: License Serial No S7A is licensed via... CIF/CIFX SN <S7A serial no> for CIF SN <CIF/CIFX serial no>...license file which contains the encoded serial number of a specific CIF/CIFX card 1 Matrix Key <S7A serial no> S7A is licensed via a USB license key Software Key <S7A serial no> (<customer name>, <computer name>)...license file which contains the encoded name of a specific 2 computer. 1) The driver compares the encoded CIFX serial number with the serial number it actually read from the installed CIFX card. If the numbers do not match the driver switches into demo mode with a limited runtime of two hours. 2) The driver compares the encoded computer name with the computer name it actually read from the system. If the names do not match the driver switches into demo mode with a limited runtime of two hours.

24 S7A Driver: Connecting to a Hilscher CIFX-RE as PROFINET IO Device (Slave) Page Check CIF card initialization sequence via Log Viewer To verify if the S7A Driver / OPC Server could find and open the CIFX card, you can check the sequence of initialization messages, the driver background process writes to the so-called Log Viewer Window Open the Log Viewer Window Picture 31: Checking the active and running configuration. Opening Log Viewer window. Verify the correct configuration file path and name in the header line of the S7A Power tool. Make sure that the driver is in Run mode. Open the Log Viewer window by clicking the Log Viewer button.

Make sure that the driver is in Run mode (started). Verify the sequence of events as shown in the red-marked area. If you should detect error or warning messages other than shown in the picture please contact our team at support@incosol.de and send us a sreen shot of the Log Viewer Window for further analysis. 4 Addressing the input and output area from ifix or OPC The structure of the Item ID and ifixx I/O Address is made up as follows: For a digital address: <Device Name>:<Input or Output specifier><byte Index>.<Bit Number> For a analog address <Device Name>:<Input or Output specifier><data Type Specifier><Byte Index>[Unsigned Qualifier] <Device Name> Is the name of the S7A device. See topic <Input or Output specifier> I for Input (read only) addresses Q for output (read and write) addresses <Data Type Specifier> Specifies the data type of the address. The bit number (0...7) within the byte which is addressed by <Byte Index>. By adding an U after the byte index a Byte, Word or Double-Word address is specified as an unsigned value. Without the U qualifier the address specifies a signed value. 4.1 Example of OPC Item IDs Picture 33: OPC Client item ID examples. Various item ids which address the input data area.
