4 1 Software presentation The Configurator for Kistock instruments allows to perform two types of operations on devices: Correction only: allows an offset correction and/or a slope correction by giving calibration points. Correction in 1 to 2 points, see the summary table p.14. Adjustment only: allows to adjust the device completely with several setpoints. 2 Means for software use Means adapted for adjusting. Means adapted for device correction: calibration certificate or calibration means. 3 Recommendations Adjustment quality depends on the measurement accuracy of the reference standard. We recommend the use of a standard which has better accuracies than these of the device, and whom deviation measurements compared with national standards are known and considered during measurement. It is important to operate in stable temperature conditions, to perform adjustment in temperature regulated room and to put in these conditions the instrument a few hours before beginning the adjustment. 4 Instructions 4.1 Classes 50, 70 and 120 Kistock Before performing an adjustment or a correction, please respect the following connection procedure: Connect the device in USB to the computer. Launch the Configurator. 4.2 Classes 150, 220 and 320 Kistock Before performing an adjustment or a correction, please respect the following connection procedure: For a measured parameter with an internal channel of the Kistock: Connect the device in USB to the computer. Launch the Configurator. For a measured parameter with a probe: Plug the probe on the Kistock. Connect the device in USB to the computer. Launch the Configurator. Connection: 1- Plug the probe 4 2- Connect the USB cable on the device 3- Connect the USB cable on the computer 4- Launch the software. Instructions
5 4.3 Get the access code and detect the data logger Connect the instrument according to the previous scheme. Launch the software. The following window opens: When using the software for the first time, it is necessary to enter an access code to get to the adjustment and correction functions. Click on the question mark on the top right. The following window opens: There is an installation code on this window.this code is generated when installing the software on the computer. Note this installation code. Contact KIMO and give this code. KIMO will give you an access code. Once the access code is entered and validated, click on Kistock 2015 button. The following window is displayed: Instructions 5
6 Click on Detect button. The following window opens: Select the type of Kistock and click on Validate. The following window opens with information about Kistock: 4.4 Get an adjustment key Click on Adjustment button on the left of the window. Click on New code to generate an adjustment key. The software displays a 15-digit code, which will be used to generate an adjustment key. Then there are two possibilities to get a key: Through your distributor: order it from him specifying the operation to be performed: Correction only: gives the possibility to apply an offset correction or a slope correction giving calibration points. Adjustment only: gives the possibility to adjust completely the device with several setpoints. It is possible to combine the two operations when asking for the adjustment key. Through the Partners Gate: Order before to your distributor some credits. It will give you a login and a password to access to the Partners Gate. Use the credits on the Gate. Enter the supplied adjustment code on the Adjustment code field. Select the type of intervention. Click on GO to validate, an adjustment key is generated. 6 Instructions
7 2 Choose the type of intervention. 1 Enter the 15-digit code. 3 Validate by clicking on GO. 4 Note the generated code. Enter this adjustment key in the Adjustment key field on the software then press the Confirm button. The following window is displayed with the different accessible fields: Instructions 7
8 4.5 Read the adjustment points This function allows to visualise the countings recorded on the instrument for each setpoint. So, it is possible with this function to check that the signal of the sensitive element has a correct functioning in the required ranges. Required ranges of countings of the instruments on the normal adjustment ranges are the following: for pressure measurements: the counting goes from to for thermocouple measurements: the counting goes from to for current measurements: the counting goes from to for voltage measurements: the counting goes from to for humidity measurements (stainless steel probe): the counting goes from to for CO2 measurements: this function is not available. Click on Read adjustment point button. Select the channel. A window opens, indicating the countings of the adjustment points. 4.6 Adjust the instrument In Adjustment part: Select the channel to adjust in the Adjustable channels list. Click on Perform adjustment button. The following window opens: The software displays the first adjusting point. Generate the requested point(s). Modify the value of the point if necessary. Click on OK to go to the following point. When the last point has been validated, the adjustment is completed. 4.7 Correction According to the device type, it is possible to enter one correction by function. Select the channel on which the correction will be applied on the list. Click on Add correction button. It is possible to perform a correction in 1 to 2 points, see the summary table p One point correction Enter the reference value on the left (1) then the displayed value by the device on the right (2). Click on Confirm the correction. A message is displayed asking to validate the correction to apply. Click on Yes to apply the correction. 8 Instructions

10 5 Update the firmwares Click on the Update button. The following window opens: Click on Manual or Automatic button. Manual update: retrieve the update file (supplied by Kimo) Automatic update: the software automatically searches for the update file on the Internet. The update starts and the File and Global progress bars fill up. Click on OK when the completed update window is displayed. 10 Update the firmwares
11 6 Description of various adjustments and corrections according to fields 6.1 Pressure Affected instruments: KP 320, KP 321 Means: standard dynamic pressure generator, GP500 type (ref for ±2500 Pa or for ±10000 Pa) Setpoints to be performed: KP320: -750; 0; +750 Pa KP321: ; 0; Pa Procedure: Connect the Kistock to the PC with the USB cable (ref ). Generate the pressures proposed by the software Follow the software instructions Stabilisation period: wait for a few seconds to stabilise each point 6.2 Temperature (electricity stimulation) K thermocouple temperature Affected instruments: KTT 220; KTT 320 Means: USB cable (ref ) Copper cable (ref ) Voltage generator CALYS type Chromel/Alumel cable (ref ) Setpoints to be performed: 0 mv; mv Procedure: Connect the Kistock to the PC with the USB cable (ref ) Connect the Kistock to the voltage generator with the copper cable Generate the adjusting voltages proposed by the software Follow the software instructions Comments: To check the adjustment, connect the Kistock to the generator with the Chromel/Alumel cable and simulate a K temperature with the generator. 6.3 Voltage probe Affected probe: KICT probe Means: USB cable (ref ) Voltage generator CALYS type Setpoints to be performed: 0 V; 9 V Procedure: Plug the probe on the Kistock. Connect the probe to a voltage generator CALYS type. Connect the Kistock to a PC with the USB cable (ref ). Generate the adjusting voltage or current proposed by the Configurator software in order to adjust the Kistock. 6.4 Current probe Affected probe: KICC probe Means: USB cable (ref ) Current generator CALYS type Setpoints to be performed: 0 ma; 19 ma Procedure: Description of various adjustments and corrections according to fields 11
12 Plug the probe on the Kistock Connect the probe to a current generator CALYS type Connect the Kistock to the PC with the USB cable (ref ). Generate the adjusting voltage or current proposed by the Configurator software in order to adjust the Kistock. 6.5 Internal hygrometry Affected instruments: KH 120, KH 220, KPA 320, KCC 320 Means: USB cable (ref ) Humidity generator GH500 type (ref ), or in saline solution that can generate 11%RH, 44%RH and 85%RH Setpoints to be performed: 11%RH, 44%RH and 85%RH Procedure: Connect the Kistock to the PC with the USB cable (ref ) Put the Kistock in the humidity generator Follow the software instructions Comments: The stabilisation time in a generator depends on the model used (about 1 hour) Saline solutions should be placed in a stable environment in temperature at ±0.5 C during at least 6 hours Stabilisation period in saline solutions: 4 hours 6.6 Hygrometry probe Affected probes: KTHA, KITHA, KITHP-130, KITHI-150 Means: USB cable (ref ) Humidity generator GH500 type (ref.24897) or in saline solutions that can generate 11%RH, 44%RH and 85%RH Setpoints to be performed: 11%RH, 44%RH and 85%RH Procedure: Make the strap on the electronic board (allows to write on the memory): see the picture Strap. There is no need to disconnect the electronic board from the body probe. If it happens, pay attention to the connection: the point on the electronic sensitive element (''a'' on the pictures) and the point on the screw thread of the probe (''b'' on the pictures) must be on the same side. 13 Connect the Kistock to the PC with the USB cable (ref ) Plug the probe on the Kistock Put the Kistock in the humidity generator GH500 type (ref ), or in a saline solution Follow the software instructions Remove the strap at the end of the adjustment Comments: It is necessary to start with the 11%RH point The stabilisation time in a generator depends on the model used (about 1 hour) Saline solutions should be placed in a stable environment in temperature at ±0.5 C during at least 6 hours Stabilisation period in saline solutions: 4 hours 6.7 CO2 Affected instrument: KCC 320 Means: USB cable (ref ) Silicone tube Setpoints to be performed: 350 ppm; 3000 ppm of CO2 complement N2 Procedure: Connect the Kistock to the PC with the USB cable (ref ) Connect a silicone tube on the gas injection connection located on the back of the Kistock Generate the gas concentrations in CO 2 asked by the Configurator software 6.8 Atmospheric pressure Affected instrument: KCC 320 Means: USB cable (ref ) Atmospheric pressure standard Setpoints to be performed: atmospheric pressure of the day Procedure: Connect the Kistock to the PC with the USB cable (ref ) Follow the software instructions Description of various adjustments and corrections according to fields 13
