Remote Production: a fast and efficient way to create local ad hoc networks for the RP1 Remote Production engine Broadcasters are looking for more content, at more locations, and with fewer resources. Remote production gives broadcasters the ability to capture a broader range of live events, such as sports, news or regional music festivals, and mix them in a remote facility hundreds or thousands of miles away. Calrec s RP1 unit allows the creation of very low-cost Hydra2 networks for all audio routing requirements, and provides connectivity for any Calrec Hydra2 I/O box, including the ultra-compact es and. These portable units are ideally suited to a flexible, Remote Production environment in that they provide a flexible way to adapt audio acquisition in any situation. This includes Hydra2 s inherent management features such as port protection, alias files and access rights. In this example (left), using just 1 x and 3 x es, an engineer can provide full audio coverage for a large-scale sports broadcast, including commentary area. 5 Used in conjunction with a, ad hoc I/O requirements can be connected to a Hydra2 network via a Master or Slave router/console core and can extend 4 x connections to I/O boxes or other hubs. For example, an ad hoc can plug directly into a central Hydra2 router on either fibre or copper, providing audio coverage to an area outside the studio. This plug and play connection is automatically recognised and made available to any console on the Hydra2 network. Intelligent network management makes emergency, temporary spurs easy to set up and change according to requirements. 4. Expansion: expand input connectivity on Brio without using expansion slots This gives Brio users, for example, greatly increased and very flexible I/O options using a single Hydra2 connection, and gives broadcast stations the ability to expand in a considered and organic manner by adding modules to an established network.
