As consequence the demands on performance of turnout heating systems to timely recognize sudden weather changes and to promptly react upon are constantly increasing. A further essential factor is a sustainable use of energy-effective control systems, combining both, ecological and economical aspects. Intelligent Point Heating Control PHS 1601 As part of the globally active turnout manufacturer voestalpine VAE, voestalpine SIGNALING Sainerholz GmbH focusses on turnout control systems as well as point machine and locking technologies. As part of the overall strategy it is our clear goal to optimize the availability of tracks and turnouts. When developing the intelligent Point Heating Control System PHS 1601 we introduced our full turnout expertise and utilized our entire know-how and experiences in the field of moveable components like locking units, point machines and switch roller systems. Our turnout systems are operating in more than 50 countries worldwide. Therefore, we have an extensive database of most diverse weather conditions and subsequently related behaviour of turnouts and setting systems at our command. Furthermore, we investigated the turnout s thermal performance and optimized its heat input.

4 Web Browser Screen The web browser based display is available with a standard laptop via an RJ45 Ethernet connection without any specific user software. All existing service laptops can be utilised. The user interface offers convenient options to adjust temperature ranges, temperature sensors and power-on/off times as well. For statistical purposes also the operating log is easily downloaded. Control Module PHS 1601 The ultra-compact Control Module PHS 1601 provides a comfortable user menu. A clear LED display informs about the actual status of the control module. The system is equipped with digital inputs and outputs; it can further transmit messages to higher-level systems. In addition, the control module provides an interface to connect with a central meteorological service. Therefore, it is possible to process additional information and weather variations are recognized at an even earlier stage. The system fulfills all requirements set forth in Deutsche Bahn AG Standard Elektrische Weichenheizanlagen (Electrical Point Heating System). Power Supply Module PHS 1601 The Power Supply Module PHS 1601 is available in two variants: the basic module operates two independent channels with up to 4000 Watts each the intelligent power supply module additionally rules the heat output in accordance with the actual need and keeps a constant temperature. As a result too strong and excessive heating up and cooling down of the heating elements are eliminated, introducing an extended service life of the heating elements. A contactor for activation of the heating element is no longer required.
