The company Intelligent solutions Guntermann & Drunck GmbH has been established in 1985 and is named after its founders. Over 25 years have since past, and we are now a leading manufacturer of digital and analog KVM switching systems. As an owner-managed company we work with a broad range in both digital and analog KVM closely with the market place and make our decisions with and in the interests of our customers. It is our philosophy to meet our customers while making decisions, to accompany them in the process and ensure that they achieve their goals. We can do this because as a medium sized company we have short communication paths and all core competencies are in house from development through to production. This way we can even make the impossible possible at times. If it is thanks to the modularity of the products or by implementing a customised solution. We orient ourselves towards the needs of the customer and not the other way round. Organisations, service providers and companies of all sizes managing numerous computers, servers and other network devices trust the comprehensive advice and service provided by Guntermann & Drunck GmbH. Thanks to these different fields of specialisation, the demands placed on the products are many and are manifold. Our products have to provide a long-life service, be secure, uncomplicated, user-friendly, understandable and adaptable. // 2
CATCenter NEO The system The CatCenter Neo system provides the following signals for several simultaneous consoles: keyboard/mouse VGA audio. The system consists of three main components, a central module, target modules (server, computer connection), and user modules. The modules are interconnected via CAT-x cable. The systems are available for switching: 32 to 64 targets via 4 to 16 simultanous user consoles. By combining these components with other G&D products, the number of targets can be increased to up to 2048 and the number of simultaneous access users up to 128. A working system contains at least one CATCenter NEO, one UCON, one CATpro2 and the necessary connection cables. Highlights * Resolution up to 1920 x 75 Hz * Automatic video setting with customisation options * Redundant power supply (optional) * Automatic detection and display of the system architecture * Support for external authentication via directory services LDAP, Active Directory, TACACS+, Radius * Syslog message output can be configured on different facility levels * Switching of audio signals * Up to 300 metre distance between the target and user * Hot-plug and hot-swap of the system components * Stay-alive function * Options: -- power switchover integration (switch on/off target via OSD) -- trade switch function (release function) -- push/get function (release function) -- monitoring function (release function) The CATCenter central module is available in the following variants: 4 user/32 targets (CATCenter NEO4) 8 user/32 targets (CATCenter NEO8) 16 user/64 targets (CATCenter NEO16) Central module CATCenter NEO16 Front view A VGA CAT cable VT 100 LAN WEB If KVM Moni IP tor The target module CATpro2 is available in the following basic variants: - CATpro2-PS/2 PS/2 keyboard/mouse and VGA-graphics - CATpro2-DEC DEC-PS/2keyboard/mouse and VGA-graphics - CATpro2-USB USB keyboard/mouse and VGA-graphics - CATpro2-SUN-USB SUN-USB keyboard/mouse and VGA-graphics - CATpro2-VT100 VT-100 terminal emulation Target module CATpro2-USB Additional audio variants: - CATpro2-Audio-PS/2 PS/2 keyboard/mouse, VGA graphics and audio - CATpro2-Audio-USB USB keyboard/mouse, VGA graphics and audio - CATpro2-DVI-Audio-UC-USB (SUN) USB keyboard/mouse and audio, (and SUN-USB) digital graphic output For more information see chapter "CATpro2" A // CCNEO 3
CATCenter NEO The system The UCON (UserConsole) user module is available in the following variants: - UCON (remote user, e.g. in the admin office, also as Twin variant) - UCON-Audio (remote user incl. audio transmission, e.g. in the admin office) - UCON-s (remote user with additional link-up of two desktop computers) - UCON-Audio-s (remote user with additional link-up of two desktop computers incl. audio transmission) - UCON-IP-NEO (IP user with system access via Ethernet, also as Twin variant) User module UCON Front view For more information see chapter UCON. A Operating the main components The CATCenter system is operated via keyboard hotkeys or the OSD AdonIS. These two components are available on all UCON user modules and ensure fast and easy operation across the entire system (see OSD features). The IP user module UCON-IP-NEO also offers an operating client which is used both to set up the IP session and also to offer system operation via a graphical interface. This client is available as a native application for Windows and GNU-Linux or as an operating system-independent JAVA version. For more information see chapter Operation. OSD (AdonIS) Configuration Three access points are available for configuring the system. You can change settings for all users via the AdonIS as a central interface. Alternatively all settings can be carried out via network over an integrated web interface. The configuration of the IP user module UCON-IP-NEO is carried out via its web interface. Web interface For more information see chapter Operation. // CCNEO 4
CATCenter NEO The system System expansions The functions of the CATCenter system can be expanded with the following options: Central: Remote power switching with add-on component "HardBoot CCX" > 64 servers via cascading with other CATCenters User-side: CATCenter remote control with IP-Control-API UCON interaction with "Push-Get" UCON pooling with "TS function" System status control witch monitoring function Target-side: Telescopic rail support with target module "CATpro2-extended" 8 16 simultaneous users with target module "CATpro2-UC" + no. of UCON users with add-on component "UserCenter CAT8" + no. of UCON up to 300 m Configuration via IP up to 32 servers up to 27 servers System diagram 1 CATCenter NEO8 2 UCON 3 UCON-Audio-s 4 UCON-IP-NEO (+ local user) 5 CATpro2 6 IP client Example The computer centre at an industrial enterprise is equipped with 64 servers. These servers are managed by the administration team via various users. Both in the computer centre itself (UCON) and via the network (UCON-IP-NEO), the servers are accessible by the admins up to the BIOS level. In addition, via a dedicated CAT-x link, the administrators' offices are also integrated into the operating concept (UCON-s). Here the UCON-s offers the additional benefit of being able to connect the two user computers as well. The admin can either switch directly to the computer centre or to his own user computer. Two CATCenter NEO8 (1 x master, 1 x slave) are used to connect the users and the server. The CATCenter NEO8 can be integrated into the network (configuration, syslog, directory services etc.). // CCNEO 5
CATCenter NEO The system Features system The design of the system hardware offers a range of benefits in use; just a few of these benefits are outlined below as an example. Field: Video VGA resolutions up to 1920 x 75 Hz can be selected. Automatic video optimisation for any target/user combination. Operating environment Temperature +5 to +45 C Air humidity < 80 %, non-condensing Connection No set activation sequence. Targets do not need to be switched off (exception: initial installation of SUN servers). Stay-alive function; when switching on and off or when "moving" a switching component, the targets remain unaffected. Hot plug capability; targets and system components can be connected during operation (Exception: initial installation of SUN servers). Auto acknowledge; added components are automatically initialised and configured. Hot swap capability; system components can be plugged in, unplugged or moved while the targets are in operation, and will still be detected automatically. Expansion System can be expanded flexibly on all module levels. Expansion is carried out using the standard system ports. Expansions can be carried out while the targets are in operation and do not require a system restart. Extension of the system architecture is detected automatically and updated dynamically. Network access The network ports on individual modules facilitate operation, configuration and KVM-IP access via Ethernet. // CCNEO 6

CATCenter NEO Expansions Central module expansion with power switching The "Power switching" function can be added to the system using the HardBoot CCX module. The HardBoot CCX are serial-connected to the CATCenters and switched via the CATCenter OSD. Each target can have three power sources with different phases assigned to it and switched by using one command (grouping). By cascading the HardBoot CCX, up to 128 power sources are available per CATCenter. 10 CATCenter NEO Expansions Central module expansion Cascading for connecting additional targets The CATCenter system can be expanded in order to connect targets via cascading. To do this, any CATCenter central modules are interconnected. When cascading different CATCenter modules, the most powerful device should used as master in the cascade. The master undertakes all control tasks. If a CATCenter NEO16 is used as a master, the entire cascade can then be configured via network (network-compatibility of NEO16 is effectively 'transferred over'). This doubles the number of access from 8 (CATCenter NEO8) to 16 (2 x CATCenter NEO8), for example. Thanks to its longer connection cables, the extended variant is used to link-up moveable, integrated targets (telescopic rails). For more information, see chapter "CATpro2". // CCNEO 10
CATCenter NEO Expansion Fiber to the NEO Connecting CATCenter NEO devices using fibre optics The NEO-FiberLink devices increase the range of the system within a CATCenter NEO cluster of up to 10,000 m. The system consists of the TX module (on the computer side) and the RX module (on the console side). The signals are transmitted using single- or multimode fibre optics (2 fibres). 13 CATCenter NEO Expansions Expansion on user-side increasing the number of users > The UserCenter CAT8 is placed between the target module and the central modules. The UserCenter CAT8 is connected to the target module (all CATpro2 variants except "UC" and "Audio") and octuplicates the number of connections in the direction of the central module for this target. Now, the target can be accessed from 8 CATCenter clusters. With CATCenter NEO16 the targets are accessible from 8 clusters via 16 users (= 128 users). A UserCenter CAT8 achieves this for 4 targets. For example, accessing 20 targets via more than 16 consoles requires 5 UserCenter CAT8 plus the relevant number of CATCenter NEOs and UCONs. As each CATCenter NEO8 can connect 8 users, the targets are accessible from 8 clusters via 8 users (= 64 users). This logical user can be operated with merely one keyboard and one mous but has multiple displays (multi-monitor user). Keyboard/mouse is assigned to the individual UCON of the logical user as preferred, using a hotkey. The Push-Get function permits the image on a target to be moved to the display of another user - or to be taken from there. This user can be large screen projection, for example. The IP-Control-API function can be used to send switching commands via network to the CATCenter NEO. The system operates independent from a UCON user module. In this case, the UCON can only be used to connect the displays. We provide you with the programming interfaces (Windows DLL or Linux SO) you create the user interface.
