2 KVM Matrix-Grid for complex infrastructures A KVM Matrix-Grid can be used in applications that desire bidirectional access between two or more matrix central units, in which the size of the system requires a network or where, due to redundancies, important connections need to be distributed to multiple KVM matrices. Moreover, the matrix grid establishes a bidirectional communication between individual matrix switches. Now systems can be interconnected even more directly to facilitate larger installations. Thus, users are able to operate the system bidirectionally at multiple locations. For transmission between two matrix systems, the devices are directly connected via I/O ports. Each simultaneous KVM connection going beyond a matrix requires a connection to the grid. To establish communication between the matrices, they are connected to a network that provides access to a shared database. At all expansion stages, digital matrix systems from G&D can be integrated into the matrix grid. This includes the entire DVICenter and series. Up to 24 matrices can be part of one grid. Within this framework, any topologies are possible (e.g. strand, tree, ring, star, meshed network). up to 10,000 m Simple line Thanks to the bidirectional connection, the G&D matrix grid allows access across locations. When connected via optical fibres, the location can even be several kilometres apart from each other - and in addition to the classic cascade users of all interconnected locations are able to access all systems connected. The systems included in a grid are virtually combined to form one large matrix for the users. Thus, all connected user consoles are able to access all connected computers within a grid. The system automatically takes over the routing of KVM signals by selecting the ideal path through the grid. Your advantages: - bidirectional operation from multiple locations - distributed access to a great number of computers - direct connections - even larger installations possible - more reliability/redundancy Technical details Each KVM connection going beyond a matrix requires a connection to the grid. Here, the I/O ports of the individual matrices are directly connected. All matrices included in the grid are equal and work decentrally. A database master, which is used to administrate the system, is defined for the entire system. The system is accessed via network connection, which needs to be established for all matrices that are part of the grid. The used IP port can be configured as desired. Consoles and targets can be wired to any matrix switch within the Matrix-Grid. In a Matrix-Grid, a user console can access any target. Multiple consoles connected to the same matrix switch can simultaneously use the same grid connection to a target (Multiuser). This also applies to consoles connected to matrix switches within the signal path. When establishing a connection, the ideal path is automatically routed. Yet, the ideal path is not necessarily the shortest. It is defined according to certain criteria such as cable medium and functions of the matrices involved, the shortest route is only a part of the evaluation criteria.

3 Ring topologies, for example, support redundancy concepts even better: even if a connecting line or a node fails, the system finds an alternate path for switching KVM signals. Therefore, users benefit from always available installations. In a later step the system automatically takes over the routing of KVM signals by selecting the ideal path through the grid. Scenario switching expands interface to control matrix systems KVM matrix systems from Guntermann & Drunck let users access numerous computers from distributed workplaces. Since such installations tend to be rather complex and, due to the many features included, lead to an extremely powerful but complex infrastructure, intuitive operating concepts are key. Only this way, KVM technology can work as intended: As technical pioneer it adapts to everyday working life and subtly becomes an important help for operating IT equipment. To be able to use switching states directly within the system instead of having to separately trigger them from the outside, G&D now have expanded their control interface with a feature called scenario switching. If the computer setup of a single workplace needs to be changed, local scenarios can be applied thanks to the possibility to store various switching states. This does not only save time but applications can also be accessed faster. Global scenarios are best applied when all consoles within a system need to be used for other tasks. By using these scenarios, users are able to change the switching conditions of the entire matrix installation. One single command allows a user to switch the computers of all consoles within a control room from day to night shift. Scenario switching is now available for all digital matrix systems from G&D as part of the premium option IP-Control- API.

4 DisplayPort High-Resolution (DP-HR / DP-HR-DH) The directly connected CPU and CON modules can be used as an extender link DP-HR components let you integrate graphics cards and monitors with DisplayPort connectors at high resolutions into Control Center and DVICenter matrix switch systems. A bandwidth up to 300 Mpixels/s allows resolutions up to 2560 x 1600@60Hz. The transmission takes place via CAT cables or optical fibers (only for ) thus allowing transmission distances of up to 10,000 m. source or a second console side monitor. Where both image signals share the transmission line bandwidth, this allows two 1920 x 1200 video signals at 60 Hz. Ultra HD DualHead modules DH variants use the bandwidth to optionally transmit two video signals over one line, saving not only transmission lines but ports at the central module, too. Thus the devices currently support a 300 megapixel per second video bandwidth, enabling a 2K transfer at 60 Hz or a 4K transfer at 30 Hz, for example. Extender operation The computer and workstation modules can also - with no central matrix - be directly connected to one another, and thus used as a point-to-point extender. Powerful G&D video graphics with HDIP L3 The matrix components are now compatible with the latest G & D compression level - High Dynamic Image Processing Level 3. This enables even better video transmission, resulting in even more brilliant picture quality. The further improved process is particularly beneficial for the DP HR systems with their high resolutions, but also optimizes transmission of the other matrix components.

5 DVI-Vision-CAT and DVI-Vision-Fiber The system consists of a computer module (transmitter) and a user module (receiver) and enables you to operate a computer on a local or remote console. The DVI-Vision CAT and Fiber offer keyboard and mouse (USB and PS/2) and DVI video (up to 1920 x 60 Hz), audio and RS232 transmission as standard. The signal is transmitted via CAT cabling or fibre optic cables depending on the variant, and all necessary control and safety features are included in the basic system. Product variants with additional transparent USB 2.0 transmission or multichannel video (up to four video interfaces per computer) are also available. With its network port, the web interface and monitoring functions, the DVI-Vision system offers important features for mission-critical applications. DVI-Vision systems are available as CAT or Fiber variants. These differ by the used transmission cable between the CPU and CON module. The transmission of signals takes place via CAT or fibre optics. The devices offer the possibility to use two network interfaces to communicate with the outside. This way, users are not only able to configure system parameters via the integrated web interface, but also read out the device status. And with the support of SNMP, status changes or critical status values (e.g. a video signal that is no longer available at the computer) can be actively forwarded via SNMP trap. The integrated SNMP agent can be used to actively query status information. To operate and configure the plug & play devices even more easily, they now offer an on-screen display in addition to the new web interface. 6 The new I/O-Card-Multi Choose from even more signals Discover flexibility With the modular KVM matrix switch, users can operate multiple computers over a number of simultaneous consoles. The broad variety of supported signals and transmission media provides highest flexibility and performance for all applications. An aspect the I/O-Card-Multi takes into account: Independent devices can be connected and their signals are switched and transmitted transparently. Thus, the new generation of cards allows users to benefit from an even wider variety of signals. To increase the matrix s flexibility even further, the supported data rate is 6.5 Gb/s (data rate for CCD-288 up to 3.2 Gb/s). How to switch the I/O-Card-Multi Devices connected to multifunctional ports of the I/O- Card-Multi can be grouped and switched with KVM end devices connected to regular KVM ports. Here, users can establish independent switching states for devices connected to the I/O-Card-Multi (pinning). As an alternative, the devices connected to the ports of the I/O-Card-Multi can be switched via external control (requires IP-Control-API). The logical console can be operated with one keyboard and one mouse while providing multiple displays (multi-monitor console). Large screen projections can also be integrated. Thus, thanks to CrossDisplay switching, operation of even complex scenarios is completely intuitive.

7 CAT-Repeater The CAT-Repeater provides the ability to increase transmission distance in matrix systems. For installations where individual routes require extension above the standard 140 m distance, a CAT-Repeater increases them by a further 140 m. This is useful for example when individual computers or workstations are further away, or grid lines require a greater bridging distance and fibre opics aren t available. A total of up to five CAT-Repeaters may be installed between target and console. Thus 1.2 km transmission distances are achievable with CAT cables alone. DL-MUX2-MC2 for failsafe redundancy systems The DL-MUX KVM switch is now also available in a smaller version, for the operation of two computers. Just as in the larger DL-MUX version, it offers extensive safety features with redundant power supply, monitoring, and SNMP. Thus, for example, a primary and a backup system can be operated at a workplace via one peripheral set. This allows a management system to respond quickly in the event of a system failure, and switch the user directly to the redundancy system via SNMP. The DL-MUX2-MC2 supports resolutions of up to 2560 x 60 Hz and provides two video channels per computer. CAT-Repeater DL-MUX2-MC2 DP1.2-Splitter-2 - distribution of 4K DisplayPort signals to multiple displays The DP1.2-Splitter-2 distributes an input side DisplayPort 1.2 signal to two displays.
