2 Yamaha System Solutions is built on Yamaha s Commercial Audio product range used in touring, broadcast, commercial installations, event industry and many other applications. With over a million components in use every day all around the globe you can be sure that the mass production technologies used by Yamaha Corporation ensures a price to feature ratio that exceeds any competition. Combined with the most stringent quality management on hardware, software and supply chain an investment in a Yamaha System Solution is rock solid. Yamaha System Solutions is a distributed system concept. System functionality such as inputs/outputs, DSP cores, mixing desks, amplifiers, speaker processing etc. are no longer built into centralised hardware, but distributed throughout a venue to support the most efficient cabling solution. Utilising high bandwidth networks, hundreds of audio channels can be shared throughout the system. Decentralisation also supports very easy and cost effective system expansion. Yamaha System Solutions is an open platform concept, allowing 3rd party products to be used in any given system. First, Yamaha uses the MY interface standard, supporting virtually all digital audio formats on the market, such as MADI, AES/EBU, HDSDI. Second, solutions are based on full Ethernet compliant network technology using CobraNet and EtherSound audio protocols. The full compliancy includes all of Ethernet s topology concepts, redundancy and fiberoptics capabilities in a Yamaha System Solution. The Ethernet network can be designed into a Yamaha System Solution supporting any further Ethernet protocols that might be required in a system. But a Yamaha System Solution can also live on an existing Ethernet network. EtherSound ES100 MADI CobraNet Yamaha System Solutions is an integrated system concept, supporting all processes in an audio system from the microphone input to the acoustic coverage of the speaker system. Digital and analogue i/o interfaces, mixing consoles, effect processors, speaker processors, routers, matrix mixers, automatic mixers, amplifiers, speaker systems: everything is included even competitors components where required.

Practically this means that any component in the system can be connected anywhere also supporting multiple connection points in a venue to accept mobile racks. Inputs and outputs analogue or in virtually any digital format can be connected to the network at any place and at any time. Multiple mixing consoles for FOH, monitor, onair and recording can be supported from Yamaha s lineup including 01V96, DM1000VCM, 02R96VCM, DM2000VCM, LS9, M7CL and PM5D series. Existing consoles can be included simply by adding the required network interfaces. 3rd party consoles supporting EtherSound or Cobranet can be connected directly, while network format conversion is available for MADI, Opto Core, Rocknet, LightViper, AVIOM, HDSDI, TDIF, Adat and AES/EBU. Multiple distributed DME units can be used for any DSP requirements in the system independent of where they are connected. DME s global link functionaliy offers an integrated user interface throughout the system including PC software user interface modules, GPI inputs and RS232 remote control by media controllers such as Crestron, AMX or any RS232 machine. As Yamaha System Solutions are based on a Gigabit Ethernet backbone, any IPoverEthernet service can be added such as high quality video links, IP conference systems, VoIP connectivity, serial servers for RS232/RS422/RS45, and production / office applications. 4 Yamaha System Solutions supports virtually all digital audio formats on the professional audio market. The component lineup includes analogue and AES/EBU bridges to both Cobranet and EtherSound networked audio protocols as a standard, while DME satellites offer powerful DSP as well as high quality analogue interfacing with remote controllable head amps to both protocols. The MY interface standard allows for other widely used digital audio formats to be connected to a system, using arrays of DME64N frames as backbone. Formats supported are AES/EBU (4kHz, 96kHz, sample rate independent and EBU standard with video sync), HDSDI deembedding, TDIF, Adat, AVIOM, LightViper, OptoCore, RockNet and MADI. MY interfaces can also be used in all MY compatible mixing consoles. In addition to the routing capabilities of the Cobranet and EtherSound protocols, the DME64N frame supports up to 96 input 64 output routers per frame with a maximum of 7 frames to be used for 96 input 44 output systems. Each frame can be used with individual graphic user interfaces through DME designer user modules on a PC, or control via RS232 supporting Crestron and AMX media control systems. Finally, DME frames include GPI i/o to include tactile user interfaces linked throughout the network by DME s global link functionality.

5 The DME series frames offer the same DSP hardware as used in Yamaha s digital mixing consoles such as the M7CL and PM5D. Contrary to userprogrammable DSP s such as the Analog Devices, Motorola and the widely used FPGA chips the Yamaha DSP7 is an extremely powerful modular 5bit DSP core made in proprietary hardware. The Yamaha DSP7 platform offers an exceptional high DSP power rating combined with a reliability record unmatched by any other proaudio DSP platform in the world today. In addition to signal routing, the DSP7 offers a complete set of DSP functions also found in the Yamaha digital mixing consoles such as parametric and graphic equalisers, dynamic processors, surround panners, matrix mixers, effect processors, delays even preconfigured mixing consoles. Further DSP functions include alternative routing modules such as room combiners and source selectors, ambient noise compensation, feedback supressors, speaker processors, wave players, automatic gain control and audio detectors.

6 Yamaha System Solution s DME frames can be controlled interactively through DME designer software, supporting the design of dedicated user control pages to be used on a PC. User control pages can control individual DME frames, or a set of DME frames in the system linked through the network. The DME designer software supports control of every individual parameter of all DSP components in the system, but also recalls of complete configurations providing simple onebutton operation for inexperienced operators. An extensive password protected user level system is provided to support user security for multiple operators. All DME frames offer GPI interfaces for connection of pots, faders, switches and LED s for user friendly tactile user interfaces. Faders and switches can be connected to any parameter in the system. Switches can also be programmed to recall presets or to start prerecorded audio content stored in a DME frame s internal flash memory. In addition to DME designer software and the GPI interface, DME frames can be controlled through RS232, MIDI and Ethernet. Crestron IP modules as well as AMX Duet modules are available for easy integration of Crestron and AMX media control systems. A simple serial protocol is available for easy programming of serial control functionality.

7 Yamaha System Solutions covers not only the input, processing and distribution side of an audio installation. The output side amplification and loudspeakers is also included in Yamaha s Commercial Audio product range engineered to integrate with Yamaha systems with maximum quality and efficiency. The amplifier lineup covers the complete range from multichannel installation amps to high power 2ohm certified amps for line arrays and subwoofer systems. All amplifiers come with control and monitoring functionality through Ethernet, RS45 or GPI interfaces. The ACD1 controller can be used to control and monitor any mix of models from yamaha s range through easy to use AmpManager software. The TXn range of amplifiers have builtin DSP and feature an MY slot to accomodate direct connection to virtually all network protocols, including Cobranet and EtherSound. Yamaha s Installation Speaker lineup offers a family of high quality enclosures from 5 to 1 sizes all acoustically tuned to offer one consistent sound concept, allowing easy design of multicabinet systems. The speaker lineup comes with YS3 speaker system design software offering extremely timeefficient design of processed speaker systems. The software also offers output of simple graphic sound pressure level prediction overviews to accomodate project documentation, and generates template speaker processing configurations for DME engines.
