Use exclusively included accessories. Make sure shield of interface is connected with device plug and plug on other side. Use exclusively shielded cables. 2.2 General Safety Instructions Protect product from moisture and humidity. Protect product from too high or too low temperature (see Technical Data, p. 10). Protect product from fire. Don t throw, drop or try to bend the product. Don t paint the product. Don t modify or disassemble the product. Service must be carried out by HMS Industrial Networks. Don t use modified products. 7 Product Description 5 (14) 4 Product Description The FlexRay PCI Express interface card FR-IB100/PCIe is an interface for operation, analysis, diagnostics and stimulation of FlexRay networks. 8 Installation 6 (14) 5 Installation 5.1 Installing the Software For the operation of the interface a driver is needed. Windows Install VCI driver (see Installation manual VCI). version VCI 2 or version VCI 3 with VCI V2.20 Wrapper 5.2 Installing the Hardware Risk of ESD damages caused by improper handling! Use ESD protective measures to avoid equipment damage. The FR-IB100/PCIe can be operated in all PCI express slots (x1, x4, x8, x16). Make sure VCI driver V2 or V3 with V2.20 Wrapper is installed. Turn off computer. Pull power cord. Open computer case according to instructions of computer manufacturer. Determine suitable slot. Plug PCI/PCIe connector in corresponding slot, without using force. Make sure the interface is securely fitted in computer. Close computer case. Hardware installation is complete.

The FlexRay bus is galvanically isolated from the PC ground and the PCI Express bus. LED state Off Green flashing (constant frequecy) Description Application not running Application running 8 Firmware Updates The FR-IB100/PCIe card is always supplied with the latest firmware on the onboard flash. The VCI cooperates with this firmware. If different firmware or update of onboard firmware is necessary, download necessary files and tools from The operation of the flash loader is indicated by the FlexRay LED. Do not switch off the PC while the flash loader is running. Switching off the PC during operation of the flash loader may destroy the card.
