9 ELC DeviceNet (ELC-CODNET) Instruction Manual Chapter Overview ELC-CODNET, defined as a communication module for DeviceNet, is used to link ELC series and DeviceNet networks. ELC-CODNET is a slave module in DeviceNet, it provides DeviceNet slave functionality to the ELC controllers when connected to a DeviceNet networks. ELC-CODNET is a Group 2 only Server, and it does not support UCMM. Within the Predefined Master/Slave Connection Set, ELC-CODNET supports Explicit and Polling connections, and does not support Bit-Strobe, Cyclic and Change of State connections. ELC-CODNET module provides 32 inputs and 32 outputs channel to communicate with ELC controllers, so the Polling connection sizes are fixed to 4bytes input and 4bytes output. 17 ELC DeviceNet (ELC-CODNET) Instruction Manual Chapter 3 Installation and Configuration Configure ELC-CODNET communicate with ELC I/O numbers automatically by the ELC control unit when an extension I/O unit is added. The I/O allocation of extension I/O unit is determined by the installation location. No matter how many points of MPU, the input of the first I/O extension unit will start from X20, output will start from Y20. The system combination example as follow: Extension unit Model Input points Output points Input numbering Output numbering st extension ELC-EX08NNDN 8 0 X20-X27-2 nd extension ELC-CODNET X30-X67 Y20-Y57 3 rd extension ELC-EX08NNDR 4 4 X70-X73 Y60-Y63 POWER RUN ERROR BAT.LOW s s X0 X X2 POWER L.V s s X0 X X2 POWER L.V s s X0 X X2 RUN X3 X4 X3 X4 X3 X5 X5 X6 X6 STOP X7 X7 ELC-PC2NNDR C0 Y0 C Y C2 Y2 Y3 ELC-EX08NNDN ELC-EX08NNDR C0 Y0 C Y C2 Y2 C3 Y3 0 RS-232 RS-485 Third extension unit Second extension unit First extension unit Controller For more information about the extension unit in ELC system, please refer to ELC system manual. According to the extension unit input and output numbering rules, the input data of ELC-CODNET will map to X30-X67, output data will map to Y20-Y57. Pub. No. MN E For more information visit: 9

Configure ELC-CODNET to DeviceNet System As an extension unit of ELC controller, ELC-CODNET provides an IO link of 32 inputs and 32 outputs between the DeviceNet master and ELC controller. One ELC-CODNET module can provide fixed 4bytes(32bits) input data and 4bytes (32bits) output data to exchange with DeviceNet master, if need more IO data, you must add other ELC-CODNET to ELC system. 0 For more information visit: Pub. 19 MAC ID setting for ELC-CODNET module ELC-CODNET module has two rotary switches to set the MAC ID in DeviceNet system. This is the only way for user 3 7 to set the MAC ID of ELC-CODNET module The MAC ID switches, allow user to set the address in a decimal format ELC-CODNET module provide way that support user update the firmware, so when the MAC ID switch is set to 95, and re-power ELC-CODNET module, ELC-CODNET module will entry update mode. 0 9 Switch setting Meaning 0 63 Valid DeviceNet MAC ID setting 95 Set module entry update mode Other Invalid DeviceNet MAC ID setting Note: Setting changes via address switches will not effective when ELC-CODNET is operating. This means the setting changes will effective after ELC-CODNET power re-boot or reset ELC-CODNET module. Function switches setting The function switch provides some combined function to user, including baud rate setting, and hold or clear remote control when loss network communication setting. Note: Setting changes via function switches will not effective when ELC-CODNET is operating. This means the setting changes will effective after ELC-CODNET power re-boot or reset ELC-CODNET module. DR0-DR indicate the baud rate of unit in DeviceNet networks: DR DR0 Baud rate OFF OFF 25K OFF ON 250K ON OFF 500K ON ON Auto Baud rate (not recommend) Pub. No. MN E For more information visit:

20 Note: ELC-CODNET module support auto baud rate function, when set all DR-DR0 to ON, ELC-CODNET will detect the baud rate of DeviceNet networks. But we do not recommend using auto baud rate function. As you know, CAN message can be transmit successfully, the network need two nodes is working normal at least, if all nodes use auto baud rate function, then no one node can go online in DeviceNet network. So we recommend you d better use fixed baud rate setting in DeviceNet networks. IN0-IN meaning as follow: IN0 IN ON Hold the input and output buffer data when unit loss the DeviceNet communication. OFF Clear the input and output buffer data when unit loss the DeviceNet communication. Reserved 2 For more information visit: Pub. No. MN E
