Caution! Emphasizes what must be done or avoided so the unit or other property is not damaged. Notice: Gives recommendations for better handling of the unit during operation or adjustment as well as for service activities. 1.2 For Your Safety For safe and successful operation of the unit, read these instructions completely. If the instructions are not observed, the manufacturer can assume no responsibility. Be sure to retain this manual for future reference. Warning! Warning! Always use properly grounded electrical outlets. Do not remove the grounding prong from the hot melt tank electrical plug. Warning! In the event of malfunction turn off power to the equipment at the circuit breaker of the melt unit and remove power source to the unit at the nearest main disconnect. Warning! Always wear goggles and heat resistant gloves rated to 400 F (205 C) when operating hot melt systems. Notice While under warranty, the unit may be repaired only by an authorized Loctite service representative.
4 2. Description 2.1 Features Two independently selectable output channels that control either 24VDC or line voltage (115 or 230 VAC) applicators. Timer output cords available to allow interface connection between applicator and timer. Dual variable Delay/Length patterns with separate HI/LO (high speed/low speed) ranges for each pattern. It utilizes potentiometers to fine tune the Delay and Length times (at operating speed) within these ranges. Variable stitch mode, selectable by either CH1 and/or CH2. Auxiliary output circuit that goes active prior to the delay/length pattern and stays active briefly after the pattern completes. The signals available for this output are Line Voltage, 24 VDC and Normally Open contacts. The auxiliary output varies with the Delay/Length pattern programmed and does have a minimum duration even when the Delay/Pattern is set to 0/0. Line Voltage, (115/230 VAC) selection is easily made right on the front panel of the control unit. For input triggering use foot switch, proximity or optical sensors. Timer is enclosed in a NEMA tamper and moisture resistant enclosure. NOTE: External triggering not required when used with the 2-Hand Applicator.

Disconnect all power from timer. 4.1 Connecting Timer Turn melt unit power off. Select the proper voltage on the line voltage selector (2) switch on the timer control panel. Voltage selected should be the same as the melt unit. 1. Determine the best location for mounting the timer considering length of cord selected. (If stand has been purchased, use mounting locations on stand. Some systems have mounting locations, see system manual). 2. Remove cover on Hot melt Tank Auxiliary Connector Jack. 3. Select the proper interface cord for your application (See Timer Control Cord Selection Chart, section 3). 4. Connect the interface cord selected, as follows: a) Connect cord 9 pin Plug Male end to Melt Unit Auxiliary Connector Jack b) Connect cord 8 pin Plug Male to Timer Output Jack c) Connect cord 3 Pin Power Receptacle to Timer Power Plug 5. To input trigger signal via footswitch, connect the footswitch to timer ( if selected ), connect the adapter cable provided with footswitch to the Timer Sensor Connector Jack. 6. To input trigger signal via sensor, connect the sensor assembly ( if selected ) either Optical or Proximity Sensor Cord to the Timer Sensor Connector Jack via Sensor Extention Cord P/N For spray application connect the Solenoid Air Control Kit spray module P/N connection to the timer AUX Connector Jack. 8. When all connections are made between the timer and the melt unit, the power can be restored to the melt unit and turned on at the control. Note: In normal operation, turning power off on the melt unit will turn power off to the timer.
7 4.2 Timer Setting To start up your timer settings for dispensing adhesives, a footswitch or sensor will have to be activated. Once activated, the molten adhesive will start dispensing per the timer settings. Refer to your hot melt tank manual for tank start up and settings. NOTE: All zone heating indicators must flash green before pump can operate. Follow the guidelines below to dial in the desired product dispense amount. 1. Set line voltage using Selection Switch (2) 2. Set Pattern 1 Range Switch (9) to LO (for long duration times) 3. Set Pattern 2 Range Switch (13) to LO (for long duration times) 4. Set CH1 (6) and/or CH2 (19) to SEAL 5. Set Stitch Length (15) to 0 6. Set Stitch Gap (16) to 0 7. Turn Power Switch (3) ON 8. Set Pattern 1 Delay (8) to middle of range 5 9. Set Pattern 1 Length Dial (10) to Set Pattern 2 Delay (12) to middle of range 11. Set Pattern 2 Length Dial (14) to Actuate via footswitch or sensor to dispense product into empty bucket during initial trial. 13.
