10 Section 1: General Information 1.1. Model Descriptions The FB2250 is a general purpose weighing instrument that can be used with a wide variety of platforms and load receivers, and is available in nine (9) different configurations. MODEL PART NO. Push-button programming and calibration. Program data is stored in battery supported ram and backed up in flash memory. The battery should be replaced every 12 months. The FB2250 series instrument features a large one inch high green backlit LCD weight display, which can be tilted up or down to accommodate different lighting conditions. Microprocessor controlled design allows the instrument to be rapidly programmed at installation to meet the specific requirements of the application. The obtainable accuracy meets Handbook 44 requirements, and the instrument is approved for commercial application up to 10,000 divisions. A maximum of 100,000 displayed divisions can be programmed for non-commercial applications. A computer utility software program PC2250 is available, via download from Fairbanks Intranet for programming via computer, and is required for certain features such as custom ticket formatting. 03/ Rev. 12

11 Section 1: General Information 1.2. Main Product Features, Continued The PC2250 software utility program can also upload and modify the instruments set-up, configuration, and calibration. Saved information can be downloaded from a computer to the FB2250 Series in the event of a catastrophic failure. The instrument provides two (2) serial communication ports to provide communication to various types of peripheral devices for RS232, RS422, RS485, and 20mA data outputs. Up to 40 Hours or greater with a maximum load of 4, 350 load cells and backlighting enabled. Battery usage time can be adversely affected by battery storage, battery capacity and battery brand. To maximize battery life, serial Ports 1 and 2 should be switched OFF, if not used. Should be replaced every 12 months using Panasonic CR V or equivalent. 03/ Rev. 12

RS232 serial Interface to Bluetooth Interface. Range 100 meters (328 feet). The Bluetooth option will operate either as a Client or Server depending on which device the FB2250 is connected. If connected to a printer, the FB2250 will be a Server. If connected to a PC, the Instrument will be a Client. 03/ Rev. 12

15 Section 2: Installation 2.1. General Service Policy Prior to installation, it must be verified that the equipment will satisfy the customer's requirements as supplied, and as described in this manual. If the equipment cannot satisfy the application and the application cannot be modified to meet the design parameters of the equipment, the installation should not be attempted. These instructions apply to the instrument and its specific accessories. Installation procedures for printers and other peripherals are given in manuals specifically provided for those units. The instructions include a pre-installation checkout which must be performed either at the service center before the technician goes to the site, or at the site before he places the equipment in service. All electronic and mechanical calibrations and/or adjustments required to make this equipment perform to accuracy and operational specifications are considered to be part of the installation, and are included in the installation charge. Only those charges which are incurred as a result of the equipment's inability to be adjusted or calibrated to performance specifications may be charged to warranty. Absolutely no physical, electrical, or program modifications other than selection of standard options and accessories are to be made to this equipment. Electrical connections other than those specified may not be performed, and no physical alterations (mounting holes, etc.) are allowed and will immediately void warranty. All load cells, load cell cables and interconnecting cables used to connect all scale components shall be located a minimum of thirty-six (36 ) inches distance away from all single and multiple phase high energy circuits and electric current carrying conductors. This includes digital weight indicators, junction boxes, sectional controllers, and power supplies. This includes any peripheral devices, such as printers, remote displays, relay boxes, remote terminals, card readers, and auxiliary data entry devices. Also included is the scale components themselves, such as 120 volt AC, 240 volt AC, 480 volt AC and electric supply of higher voltage wiring runs and stations, AC power transformers, overhead or buried cables, electric distribution panels, electric motors, florescent and high intensity lighting which utilize ballast assemblies, electric heating equipment, traffic light wiring and power, and relay boxes. All scale components, including digital weight Instruments and peripheral devices are not designed to operate on internal combustion engine driven electric generators and other similar equipment. 03/ Rev. 12

16 Section 2: Installation 2.1. General Service Policy, Continued Electric arc welding can severely damage scale components such as digital weight Instruments, junction boxes, sectional controllers, power supplies, and load cells. The installing technician is responsible to make certain that personnel are fully trained and familiar with the equipment's capabilities and limitations before the installation is considered complete. The complete installation consists of the following. Verifying the application Unpacking Instrument checkout Customer and site readiness include the following questions to consider. Is the Location ready? Is the Load Receiver ready? Is the customer aware there may be work disruptions? Are the operators available for training? Are all platform connections wired correctly, both electrical and mechanical? Are all calibrations and adjustments correct? Is customer training complete? 2.2. Pre-Installation Checklist The following items should be checked before the equipment is installed. Has the application been checked to make certain that it is within the capabilities and design parameters of the equipment? If the installation will disrupt normal operations, have arrangements been made? Is properly-grounded power available at the installation location? Will the equipment operator(s) be available for training? Has the technician thoroughly reviewed the installation procedures? 03/ Rev. 12

17 Section 2: Installation 2.3. Unpacking Check that all components and accessories are on hand, and agree with the order. Remove all components from their packing material. Check to make certain that all parts are accounted for and no parts are damaged. Advise the shipper immediately if damage has occurred. Order any parts necessary to replace parts that have been damaged. Keep the shipping container and packing material for future use. Check the packing list. Collect all necessary installation manuals for the instrument and accessories. Open the Instrument and perform an inspection, making certain that all hardware, electrical connections and PC Assemblies are secure. Do not reinstall cover if final installation is to be performed after the preinstallation checkout Equipment Location The Instrument should be positioned away from direct sunlight Safety As is the case with any material handling equipment, these safety precautions should be observed during operation. Never load the platform beyond its rated capacity. Refer to the rating on the serial number plate if in doubt. Ensure that any structure which supports the platform is capable of withstanding the weight of the platform plus its rated capacity load. Do not load the platform if there is any evidence of damage to the platform or supporting structure. Use safety chains or other suitable restraining devices if there is any possibility of the load shifting, falling, or rolling from its position on the load receiver. 03/ Rev. 12

Remove the screws to gain access to the main printed circuit board inside the enclosure. Use caution to avoid pulling cables out of their connectors. 2. Bring the dressed end of the load cell cable through the strain relief connector on the back of the instrument, allowing enough cable on the inside to reach the load cell connection terminal on the main board. 3. Refer to the platform documentation for the color code of the loadcell wiring AC Operation The FB2250 is designed to operate from 80 to 260 volts AC, 50 to 60 Hertz. 110 Volt AC Operation FB2250 is factory wired for 110 VAC and requires a three prong grounded outlet. 220 Volt AC Operation The FB2250 has Auto Switching capability. Rewire the power cord according to the following diagram. 03/ Rev. 12

21 Section 2: Installation Battery Installation STAINLESS STEEL ENCLOSURE ABS ENCLOSURE STAINLESS STEEL INSTRUMENT 5. Unscrew the black plastic end caps. 6. Insert five (5) alkaline D cell batteries. ABS INSTRUMENT 7. Unscrew the two large knurled screws on the back of the Instrument 8. Remove the battery cover. 9. Insert five (5) alkaline D cell batteries. Industrial D size Energizer EN95 battery or equivalent is recommended for maximum operating time. Stainless Steel models should have special formed key washers installed for grounding. Four (4) screws fasten the back cover plate at the corners Powering Up the FB Press and hold the ON / OFF Key for one to two (1 2) seconds. The Instrument will display , then a character display moving from right to left, followed by the revision of software. Upon completing the warm-up, the FB2250 will display the actual weight on the scale. 2. Press and hold the ON / OFF Key for one to two (1 2) seconds to turn off the FB / Rev. 12

22 Section 3: Programming Configuration 3.1. Entering Program Mode Internal Program Switch WARNING: PRECAUCION: REAR VIEW STAINLESS STEEL NEMA IV INSTRUMENT Remove the cover plate located at the lower right side of the enclosure and press the Internal Program Switch. ABS INSTRUMENT Unscrew the plastic lockout plug located at the rear of the enclosure and press the internal program switch. IP 69K AND PANEL MOUNT INSTRUMENT Remove the four (4) screws securing the rear cover and press the program switch located next to the loadcell terminal connector. NOTE: Repeatedly pressing the program switch will cycle through SET-UP, CONFIG, APP, CAL, and back to the WEIGH MODE. If the program parameters are outside of set limits, the Program Defaults are loaded/reloaded at power-up. 03/ Rev. 12

23 Section 3: Programming Configuration 3.2. Saving Program Changes Program changes are automatically saved upon exiting the Program Mode. Press the PROGRAM SWITCH to exit to the Weigh Mode Flow Charts Dashed line boxes used in the flowchart indicate that the menu item availability is dependent upon programming performed elsewhere. 25 Section 3: Programming Configuration 3.4. Front Panel Programming Parameters, Continued Follow these steps to program the Instrument PROGRAMMING TIME FORMAT 1. Press and hold the PRINT key for three (3) seconds. 2. Press the ZERO key. 3. Press the UNITS key to toggle through the available selections. 4. Press the ZERO key to enter the selection. Available selections include the following. 12hr A 12 hour clock, currently AM. 12hr P 12 hour clock, currently PM. 24 hour Military time, (1:00 PM = 1300 hours). Set Time as HHMMSS. When there is no activity, the Sleep Mode activates according to the programmed time frame. 27 Section 3: Programming Configuration CLEARING THE ACCUMULATOR The options to be cleared depend on whether the Operating Mode is programmed to Accumulation, Peak Hold, Piece Count, or Piece Count and Total. CLr.ACC displays on the Indicator. 1. Press ZERO. 2. Press UNITS to toggle the available settings. 3. Press the ZERO key to enter the selection. 4. Available selections including the following two options. Clr.YES (Clear the Accumulator) CLr.NO (Do NOT Clear the Accumulator) 5a. Press ZERO to clear the Accumulator and return to the Net/Gross Mode. OR, 5b. Pressing UNITS will NOT clear the Accumulator, and then return to the Net/Gross mode. 6. Press and hold the ZERO key for three (3) seconds. NOTE: These options are conditional upon programming the Operating Mode to accumulation. 7. Depending upon how the FB2250 was programmed in the Operating Mode, one of these conditions will occur. The Indicator will display total number of pieces with their weights, then time out in thirty (30) seconds. If the instrument is programmed to PIECE COUNT, OR PIECE COUNT AND TOTAL, it displays the total number of pieces, then time out in thirty (30) seconds. If the instrument is programmed to PEAK HOLD STABLE or PEAK HOLD UNSTABLE. It displays time, date, peak weight, and time out in thirty (30) seconds. 8. After the 4-20mA Analog Output Device has been installed and programmed, select one of the following options. 2a. Set the 4-20mA to YES in the APPS Menu to enable the front panel while the analog output continues to operate. OR 2b. 49 Section 4: Calibration 4.1. Single Point Calibration Single Point Calibration is the basic, standard calibration procedure. IMPORTANT NOTE: Pressing the PRINT key will terminate this procedure and restore the previous calibration data. 1. Press the INTERNAL PROGRAM SWITCH until the display indicates CAL 2. Press the ZERO key. 3. Press the ZERO key to establish the Zero Reference. The A/D Count Data will display if the instrument has never been calibrated, or if it has had no input of Weight Data. The display will indicate approximately Zero (0) Counts. If the scale has been previously calibrated, the display will indicate Zero (0) Weight. 4. Press the ZERO key multiple times if a better Zero Reference is required. The lbs caret will blink throughout the calibration process. 5. Press the UNITS key. LOAD will display. 50 Section 4: Calibration 4.1. Single Point Calibration, Continued 6. Load the scale with the Test Weight. The display will indicate Weight Data if the scale has been previously calibrated, or A/D Count Data if not. Note the display will indicate a weight from a previous calibration. Either, continue loading the scale or operate the ZERO key to calibrate at this weight. 7. The scale will indicate calibration data. To accept this data, operate the UNITS key. Proceed to step 8 to finish the calibration. To change or adjust the calibration, operate the ZERO key to select the most significant digit. Operate the UNITS key to increment the number. After the correct value has been scrolled, advance to the next decade be operating the ZERO key the next digit, when the least significant digit has been entered. Continue adding weight to the scale. If the displayed weight is outside the scale tolerance, operate the ZERO key, and calibrate using the technique above to enter the total test weight value on the scale. A scale can be calibrated at a maximum of four unique points to correct for non-linearity. 51 Section 4: Calibration 4.2. Re-Calibrating without a Zero Reference NOTE: This is used when calibrating a Tank/Hopper Scale. Press the INTERNAL PROGRAM SWITCH until the display indicates CAL. 1. Press the TARE key, which will establish a false Zero reference. 2. Press the UNITS key. LOAD will display. 3. Load the scale with the Test Weight. 4. If the displayed weight is outside the scale tolerance, operate the ZERO key and then operate the UNITS key. 5. The display will indicate calibration data. Operate UNITS key to accept the displayed data and proceed to Step 7. OR Enter a value of the calibration weight to be applied using the UNITS and ZERO keys as described in Section 4.1. Operating the PRINT key will abort the operation and the previous calibration data will be restored. 6. The display will indicate the new gross weight value. Continue loading the scale This step may be repeated up to four (4) times to adjust for non-linear and increased weights added to the scale. 7. Press the PROGRAM SWITCH at any point in the Calibration Process to exit the sequence. When the fourth calibration point has been completed or after the PROGRAM SWITCH has been operated, the calibration in Microvolts per Division (i.e. 2.91uPd ) will display. Once the Microvolt Sensitivity Display times out, the instrument will return to the Weight Mode. Service Sealing The FB2250 accepts a Wire Lead Seal to comply with Weights and Measures requirements ABS INSTRUMENT Follow these steps to install the SERVICE SEALING in the ABS Instrument. 1. Unscrew and remove the REAR COVER. 2. Thread the LEAD SEAL WIRE through the holes in the Program Switch Access Plug (1). 3. Press the LEAD SEAL WIRE through the provided hole in the housing (2). 1 2 WARNING: PRECAUCION: 4. Crimp the LEAD SEAL to secure the wire into its proper place. REAR VIEW 5. Replace the REAR COVER, tightening the screws to 18 +/- 2 in-lbs. torque value STAINLESS STEEL NEMA IV INSTRUMENT 1. Unscrew and remove the ACCESS PLATE. 2. Thread the LEAD SEAL WIRE through the hole in the two screws that secure the program switch access plate. 3. Crimp the LEAD SEAL to secure the wire into its proper place. 4. Replace the ACCESS PLATE, tightening the screws to 18 +/- 2 in-lbs. torque value. 03/ Rev. 12

Fieldbus Installation Fieldbus is a general term that describes an all-digital two-way communications system that interconnects measurement and control equipment such as sensors, actuators and controllers. Fieldbus traces its beginnings in the automotive industry, where efforts to simplify and reduce wiring resulted in a multiplexed Controller Area Network (CAN) system of modules installed at various points of a car For example, many cars have multiple controls on the door, such as power-window, power-mirror, power-lock and power-seat controls. To eliminate the thick bundle of wires of the older method, a driver's-door module monitors all of the switches. If the driver presses the window switch, the door module closes a relay that provides power to the window motor. If the driver presses the switch to adjust the passenger-side mirror, the driver's door module sends a packet of data onto the communication bus of the car. This packet tells a different module to energize one of the power-mirror motors. In this way, most of the signals that leave the driver's door are consolidated onto the two wires that form the communication bus. As time has progressed, many different Fieldbus types have been developed, each with different characteristics and specifications. Very simply, they serve as a Local Area Network (LAN) for instrumentation used in automatic process control and manufacturing applications. The LAN is a digital, bi-directional, multi-drop, serial-bus communications network used to link field devices (often referred to as Nodes ), such as controllers, transducers, actuators and sensors. There are a number of different manufacturers that produce Fieldbus devices. Each produces different hardware interfaces, wiring and connector types, speed, and the amount of bytes of data that can be exchanged on the network, among other things. Additionally, the current Fieldbus communications network is replacing the older 4-20mA Analog Signal. The older 4-20 ma analog signal requires each device to have its own set of wires and its own connection points. A Fieldbus eliminates this need as, generally, twisted pair wiring is used. All devices on the network are now connected together. Fairbanks Scales currently offers three different Fieldbus Devices: DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP. Fieldbus Connections The term FIELDBUS usually describes an all-digital two-way communications system that interconnects measurement and control equipment such as sensors, actuators and controllers OVERVIEW OF TERMS There are currently three (3) different of Fieldbus Interfaces listed as standard accessories for the FB2550 Instrument. DEVICE NET A network system to interconnect control devices for data exchange. It uses a differential serial bus, called Controller Area Network (CAN), as the backbone technology and defines an application layer to cover a range of device profiles. CONTROL NET An open control network in real-time, for high-throughput applications. PROFIBUS Non-powered two-wire (RS485) network, with up to 126 nodes, transferring a maximum of 244 data bytes per node per cycle. ETHERNET/IP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is used for address requests. The data is transmitted continuously from this module. The IP address may be made static by downloading the IP Configuration Tool Software. ETHERNET/IP can be easily confused as a simple combination of EtherNet and the Internet Protocol. Instead, it is an Industrial Application Layer Protocol used for communication between industrial control systems and their components. Such components include Programmable Automation Controller, Logic Controller, or an I/O System. The IP in EtherNet/IP is not an abbreviation for Internet Protocol, but instead, it stands for Industrial Protocol. 03/ Rev. 12

72 Section 7: Accessories DEVICENET (29578) DEVICENET is a low-cost communications link that connects industrial devices to a network, eliminating expensive hardwiring. It is based on a broadcast-oriented, communications protocol the CAN. The CAN Protocol was originally developed by BOSCH for the European automotive market for replacing expensive wire harnesses with low-cost network cable. The CAN Protocol has fast response and high reliability for applications like anti-lock brakes and air bags. DEVICENET also provides power to the network. This allows devices with limited power requirements to be powered directly from the network. This reduces connection points and physical size. The maximum network size is up to 64 Nodes, with message data packets up to 8 bytes. It uses a Control and Information Protocol (CIP), combining the functionality of an I/O Network and a Peer-to-Peer Network. CONTROLNET is based on the Producer/Consumer Model, permitting all nodes on the network to simultaneously access the same data from a single source. Maximum of 99 nodes, with no minimum distance between nodes The Control net card uses BNC connectors. SPECIAL NOTES For signal redundancy, both connectors should be used. If not, use either Connector A or B. Network Status LED A and Module Status LED correspond to LED 1 and LED 2 in the instance attributes of the Anybus Object. The ProfiBus protocol was originally developed by a committee founded by the German government. PROFIBUS utilizes a non-powered two-wire (RS-485) Network. A ProfiBus Network may have up to 126 nodes, transferring a maximum of 244 bytes data per node/ per cycle. Baud (Communication) Rates are selectable, and overall end-to-end network distance varies with speed. The maximum standard Baud Rate is 12Mbps, with a maximum distance of 100M (328ft), and 1200M (3936 ft.) at 93.75Kbps without repeaters. 79 Section 7: Accessories 7.4. Bluetooth Technology Device The Bluetooth Option replaces direct wiring between two devices. The Bluetooth Interface uses either Port 1 or Port 2 Serial Output. RS232 Serial Interface to Bluetooth Interface with a range of 100 meters (328 feet). The Bluetooth Option operates either as a Client or Server, depending on its connecting device. If its connected to a printer, the FB2250 will be a Server. If connected to a PC, it is a Client. Shown below are some Bluetooth products with their features. MODEL NO. Turn on both Bluetooth Devices with the SLIDE SWITCH on their sides. 2. Press the RESET BUTTON on each one. 3. Press the PAIRING BUTTON of Device #1 for two (2) seconds The Standby LED turns OFF. The Connect LED blinks three (3) times every two (2) seconds. Keep the power ON. 4. Press the PAIRING BUTTON of Device #2 for two (2) seconds. The Standby LED turns OFF. The Connect LED blinks three (3) times every two (2) seconds. 5. Press the Pairing Button again for two (2) seconds until the Connect LED blinks every half second. Wait for Devices #1 and #2 to connect to each other. The Connect LEDs of both will be solid green. This process takes about ten (10) seconds. If any other Bluetooth devices are nearby, it may take longer. 03/ Rev. 12

82 Section 8: PC2250 Utility Software 8.1. Introduction The PC2250 utility software program can be used to set up and configure the FB2250. It is required in order to program certain features such as custom units and custom ticket vector programming. The FB2250 uses port 2 to communicate to the computer Wiring COMPUTER DB9, Pin 3 Tx DB9, Pin 2 Rx DB9, Pin 5 GND FB2250 TB4 (B), Pin 1 Rx TB4 (B), Pin 2 Tx TB4 (B), Pin 4 GND 8.3. Communication Settings 1. Access the COM Port Settings of the computer by pressing F2. The Standard Defaults are noted in the chart to the right. Input the custom unit factor to set the conversion factor of the current primary weight data. CUSTOM UNIT PROGRAMMING EXAMPLE To convert pounds to dry barrel units, enter the conversion factor, resolution and custom legend. ENDIAN The Endianess of a module is determined by the network type, but can be changed from Little Endian to Big Endian, or vice versa by using the "CHANGE ORDER" setting. LITTLE ENDIAN FORMAT OR INTEL ORDER In Little Endian Format, the least significant byte is stored first, followed by the next three more significant bytes. For example, a 32bit value of 0x would be stored in memory in LITTLE ENDIAN as shown below. Gross Weight Tare Weight A 32bit Status Word Gross and Tare weights can be selected as either a 32-bit Integer or a 32-bit Floating Point Word. The Most significant Byte indicates the Weigh Mode "G" for Gross, and "N" for Net. The Next Order Byte indicates "O" Overcapacity, "M" Motion of the last command received. (See INPUT Commands) The next order byte indicates the weight units. "l" pounds "k" kilograms "o" ounces "g" grams. The Least Significant Byte indicates the number of decimal places, if the weight output is selected to be a 32-bit Integer word. If a Floating point word is selected, this byte will be 0. INPUT Single Byte Commands can be sent from the network. Although the input is read as a 32-bit word, only the Least Significant Byte is used in this process. When the command is sent and recognized, it is entered into the 32 -bit status byte in the Least Significant Command Byte location. New commands can be transmitted after transmitting a NULL command. 03/ Rev. 12

Checksum is an error detection method that checks the integrity of the entire string of data that is transmitted. DELIMITED This setting determines if a comma is added to the output string to separate data fields contained within the output string. HARDWARE HAND SHAKING No current function. Set up for future use Custom Output Load A variety of pre-packaged Output Strings is available. 1. Click the radio button that applies. Default = Fairbanks 2. Click OK to down load the settings, or Cancel. See Appendix 1: Data Output Formats. 03/ Rev. 12

The current structure of the output string is displayed at the bottom of the Custom Output page, in order of transmission from left-to-right. 2. The blue-dashes indicate the printable area of the ticket based on the ticket size and margins entered (by the user or by default). 1. Click-and-hold on a data item to move it to a different location. 2. change the numeric values for TOP and LEFT. Legends such as GROSS cannot be disabled, and are always included. Select INHIBIT to set the status of the CTS (Clear To Send) and RTS (Ready To Send) hardware handshake (BUSY) lines. An example of this is Paper out. 3. Complete all the items can be disabled from view and printing by right clicking the VISIBLE box, and then selecting NO or YES. 4. This is not recommended in battery powered applications. ON/OFF UNITS ZERO B/G NET TARE PRINT Turns the Instrument on or off. Switches between pre-programmed selectable weight units. Sets the display to zero, programmable: 2% or 100% of capacity. Toggles between Gross and Net weights This apples only if a Tare Value has been entered greater than ZERO. Automatically tares off displayed weight when key is pressed. Simple RS232 output when key is pressed. Depending on programmed selection, Tare Weight will do one of the following. Be retained for reuse until changed, or if power is removed. OR Automatically clear when Gross Weight returns to ZERO. 03/ Rev. 12

98 Section 9: Operation 9.2. Operating Procedures 1. Press and hold the ON / OFF Key for two (2) seconds. The Instrument will display , followed by character display moving from right-to-left, then the revision of software. Once the warm-up is complete, the FB2250 displays the actual weight on the scale. 2. To turn the FB2250 off, press the ON / OFF key for two (2) seconds. The Zero. Tare and the AZT functions require the displayed weight to be stable before these functions will operate. The weight reading is stable if the variation in weight is less than the programmed BAL RANGE Gross, Tare and Net Weight There are three terms used when weighing an object s or load s amount. NET The NET WEIGHT (product only) is the GROSS WEIGHT (total amount) minus the TARE WEIGHT (container only). NET WEIGHT = Gross Weight Tare Weight T A R E G R O S S WORKING EXAMPLE A full can of house paint is an object to be weighed. The empty can is the TARE weight. The paint is the NET weight. Together they equal the GROSS weight. 03/ Rev. 12

Note the Net Weight on the display. 7. Press the GROSS/NET key to switch to Gross. 8. Read the Gross Weight on the display Weight Accumulation 1. Place a weight on the Scale Platform. 2. After the weight has settled, press the B/G NET key until the display alternates between the number of Accumulations "n" and the Accumulated weight. 3. Press the UNITS key to return to the Gross/Net Mode. 4. Add the weight to the Accumulator. The display momentarily indicates ACCEPt, then returns to the Weigh Mode. 5. Press the B/G NET key to skip adding the Weight to the Accumulator, and return to the Weigh Mode. The scale must return to 0 Gross Mode before another accumulation can occur. 6. Add the next load to the scale platform. 7. Press B/G NET until the display alternates between the number of Accumulations "n" and the Accumulated weight. 8. Press UNITS to return to the Gross/Net Mode. 9. Add the Weight to the Accumulator. The display will momentarily indicate ACCEPt then return to the Weigh Mode. 03/ Rev. 12

101 Section 9: Operation 9.9. Clearing the Accumulators 1. Press and hold the BG/Net key for three (3) seconds. The display will indicate Sleep and then display the current setting. 2. Press UNITS. CLr.ACC will display. 3. Press the ZERO key, then the UNITS key to toggle the available settings. 4. Press ZERO to enter the selection. Available selections include the following settings. Clr.YES (Clear the Accumulator) CLr. NO (Do not Clear the Accumulator) NOTE: Pressing the ZERO key clears the Accumulator and return to the Net/Gross Mode. Pressing the UNITS key will not clear the Accumulator and return to the Net/Gross mode. This clears Peak Weight Data and Piece Count Data, if selected. 03/ Rev. 12

102 Section 9: Operation Parts Counting and Accumulation 1. Place the empty weighing container on the Scale Platform. 2. Press TARE. This weighs the container only, placing the scale in the Net Mode. 0 Net Weight should display on the indicator. 3. Press B/G NET. The Display prompts to "Add" a number of sample parts to the container. 4. Pressing the B/G NET key repeatedly prompt the user to; "Add 1", "Add 5", "Add 10", "Add 25", Add 50", or "Add 100" parts. 5. Add the required sample to the container, then press UNITS. The Display alternates between indicating the weight and the number of pieces. 6. Add the remaining parts to the container. The display will update and continue to alternate between the Weight and Number of Pieces, including the original sample. 7. Press B/G NET. The Display alternates between the "Total" legend and the Total number of pieces accumulated. See the Print Example to the right. 8. Press the B/G NET key to skip adding the Current Piece to the Total Register and return to the Weigh Mode Press the UNITS key to complete the Accumulation NOTES: If the prompts do not occur, clear the Accumulator and start over. The operating mode must be set to PIECE COUNT & TOTAL to function. 03/ Rev. 12

103 Section 9: Operation Peak Weight Either the Maximum Unstable or Maximum Stable Peak Weights are stored, along with the Time and Date that the condition occurred. This data can be printed or viewed at the FB2250.\ 1. To view, press the ZERO key for three (3) seconds to alternately display the peak weight, time, and date. This will time out 30 seconds and return to the Weigh Mode, otherwise press UNITS to end the process. 2. Press and hold the ZERO key for three (3) seconds. Conditional upon programming the Operating Mode to ACCUMULATION, PIECE COUNT, OR PIECE COUNT and TOTAL. The FB2250 will display total number of Pieces, Eight, and Time-out [thirty (30) seconds]. Conditional upon programming the Operating Mode to PEAK HOLD STABLE or PEAK HOLD UNSTABLE. The FB2250 will display Time, Date, Peak Weight, and Time Out [thirty (30) seconds]. 03/ Rev. 12

Check for damaged load cell, load cell cables, or bad main PC. Measure the Excitation Voltage (5VDC) Use a Simulator to troubleshoot Error Reset If the FB2250 displays Error, the problem may be a dead battery and power loss. Press these keys in the order shown on the chart. After performing these steps, the Instrument will then display "Setup" and permit access to programming parameters. Reconfigure, calibrate, and test for proper operation after changing the battery. 03/ Rev. 12
