SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS To ensure the reliable use of the equipment and the safety of the operator, please observe the following guide in installation, use and maintenance: Please ensure that the entire engineering system use the same sheltered ground. Power supply without sheltered ground should not be used and the ground pin of the power line must not be ruined When the equipment need to be moved or other operations which need power outage, all power supplies must be turned off, including the power switch. The power cord should be unplugged to ensure the safety of the equipment and the users. Never place any materials above the power line, signal line or communication line. Avoid stamping or pressing on cables to prevent hazards like leakage of electricity and short circuit When plugging and pulling the signal line, cut off the equipment power supply to avoid damage to the equipment. Damages resulted from hot plugging are beyond the terms of the warranty The device should be set in the right way, such as being put in standard rack, case or cabinet or positioned on a steady and flat operating table, so as to prevent the device from falling off. Avoid dust or moisture in the working environment, especially to prevent the liquid from immersing and splashing into the internal equipment. All repair and maintenance work shall be carried out by professionals. Do not attempt to repair the equipment without taking any training. To prevent the risk of electric shock, do not open the shell without authorization. 2

5 INTRODUCTION Performance The new generation video wall controller comes with pure-hardware image processing devices developed by our company with reference to the previous series. It is not only compatible with the good performance and fast speed of the previous processor but also provided with a brand-new system structure, data exchange system, data processing and device structure at the same time. They can process various videos on the network data processing. In short, it is a powerful high-end image processing device. Its primary function is to display multiple dynamic images on a number of display terminals simultaneously, which is mainly used in large-screen display wall system and it is the core of the display control equipment of the system. Video wall controller can accept a variety of high-resolution formats video signal, like RGB/VGA, DVI, HDMI, C-Video, YpbPr. It can also adjust and alternate the window size, showing location, and image ratio of video according to users demand and finally output unified format of VGA/RGB and DVI signals. Video wall controller is a pure hardware image processing equipment whose core depends on its powerful processing capability and high stability. It adopts the embedded structure design, and the entire closed operation system. Each module is relatively independent and can be managed by the embedded control module to complete the image processing tasks. It also supports the user-defined signal mode and the 1080P high definition 5

6 digital video. The controller provides a RGB/DVI output interface, and the output format and resolution can be selected. Video wall controller is a device that can be controlled. It accepts the main control terminal and sends the command when in use. Video wall controller can be controlled in several ways with parts such as panel buttons, infrared remote control, RS232 serial port and Ethernet remote control. Functions of Various Parts Structure of the device Video wall controller adopts the modular system structure, which is easy to expand and maintain the device. The main body structure of the device is mainly composed of a cabinet, a front panel, a power supply, a baseboard and a flashboard. Video wall controller flapper has a various types which comprises of the control card, data card, input card and output card etc. Control card The control card is mainly used for interface external command and coordination of parts of the control device. Command input interface: serial port RS232 and internet access RJ45 6

7 Data card It is mainly used for data distribution and transmission. It has no external interface. Input card DVI high definition input It is mainly used to input double link DVI digital signals. There are 1-2 effective DVI double link connectors, which can input Super-Hi-Vision pure digital signals like 3072x1536. PC input It is mainly used to input PC signals, and each input card can also access 4 PC signals, which the PC entrance can be connected to VGA/DVI/YPBPr/HDMI VGA signal: 210M bandwidth to support the resolution of 1920x1200@60Hz; DVI signal : Bandwidth 165M, single link, support resolution ratio 1920x1200@60Hz; HDMI signal: embedded HDCP protocol, HDMI1.3 version, supports 1080i/p; YPbPr signal: supporting 1080i/p. PC & Composite video input It is mainly used to input PC and composite video signals, and each input card can accept 2 PC and 4 composite video signals. Composite video input It is mainly used to input composite video signals, and each input card is equipped with 8 BNC ports, compatible for PAL and NTSC systems. Multi-function Device it is mainly used to input PC and composite video signals. Each input card can simultaneously input various kinds of signals such as the 4PC and four composite video signals. The signal input interfaces are unified using the DVI-I, and a variety of signals can be connected and input from different tie-lines; Network it is mainly used to input the online video signals, and each printed-circuit card has an RJ45 connector, which can be inserted various kinds of encoded H.264 video signals. Output card Mainly used for system output, with 4/8 DVI-I interfaces on each card, supporting output resolutions ranging from Hz to Hz. 7

8 Notes for device upgrade and card replacement Because Video wall controller adopts flashboard structure, the equipment is easy to configure. Just insert the needed card into the chassis. Different chassis have different numbers of input / output slots. Please refer to the technical index part in the manual; The card of the same type can be replaced, such as VGA / DVI input card and composite video input card. They are all input card types and can be plugged into the input slot; Different types of cards cannot be replaced, for example, DVI input and output cards belong to different cards, so input card cannot be inserted in the output slot. There might be uncertain consequences if any of the slot is misplaced. For engineering grounding purpose, the control card should be plugged or unplugged with the power shut off; hot plug requires the card and any outside connections disconnected If there is any need for device configuration after the card is inserted, please consult the manufacturer; Functional features Video wall controller is a new generation application processing system developed for the management mode of the display wall system. With powerful integrated management capabilities, Video wall controller can carry out a centralized control on all the large screen equipment that can be controlled such as the display wall, a projection unit, LED display unit, multi-screen video wall controller, and matrix switching equipment, HD cameras, and multifunction devices. The users can only use one operation interface to operate, manage and request various kinds of signals. With the user-friendly design, it can fully meet the needs of users to easily control the display wall. Window Management With Video wall controller, we can operate signal windows input by VGA, DVI, RGB, Video, IP video and the processor application windows to carry out the on and off, scaling control, screen roaming, overlying, multiple display, size of the window set, attribute settings of. And it can realize a diversified displaying mode of single display, cross-screen display, overlying display, whole screen roaming and so on. Automatic image identification Video wall controller has the function of automatically identifying and reconstructing signals. Signal inlet port is provided with the function of automatic identification. As for the variety of signals that are newly connected to the system, the controller can not only automatically identify the signal resolution and refresh rate but also determine the position offset of the signal and the phase error to automatically calibrate through the complex calculations. Video wall controller can detect the subtle differences on the amplitude, phase, frequency and other aspects of different input signals, and record these differences as the unique 8

9 identification signal, putting them together with a calibration parameter. When the calibrated signal is connected to the system, the controller does not need to re-calibrate the signal. It can automatically apply the parameters without any complex operation, which can be switched based on the requirements of the customers. This is the signal automatic identified reconstruction function of the controller, which can greatly make the operation much easier and more convenient for the users. Multi-signal copy function Video wall controller has the same signal reproduction ability, which can replicate the input signals through controlling system and process the various copied signals synchronously. Automatic signal identification function Video wall controller software is provided with automatic signal lookup function. The removal, insertion, replacement and whether it is signalled or not can be identified by the software operation interface. What s more, the identification of the signal can be determined by the light of the software interface, which ensures more accurate insertion of the signal during the user s operation. Supporting hot-swap function Video wall controller supports the function of removal and insertion under power. The inlet and outlet plates of the equipment also support the function of removal and insertion under power. After finishing each removal and insertion, the device can be automatically configured and it can resume normal work after 15 seconds without any activity. Same collection capacities of all signals Video wall control system is provided with the same display wall function on the graphs of the video signal, RGB signal, DVI-I signal and other signals with various sources. All the signals are in real-time display and each input interface is also compatible with VGA / RGB, DVI, and HDMI, the YpbPr and free from renewing the original hardware card. Supportive of SDI signal input, including SD-SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI, support HDCP.3 protocol. Customized scene mode Video wall controller supports preservation of multiple scene modes. Input signal of the equipment can be put in advance. Save various scenes as mode scenes, which can be called when needed. There is no limitation for the quantity of the definition of scene modes. Supporting the edition, storage, revision and deletion of the scene mode. The user can select frequently-used model according to the need and can switch the scene through stitching control panel. Call management of the signals Video wall controller can be defined to add RGB, Video, DVI, IP video and other signal sources. It can also conveniently and quickly call, switch, delete and save the signal sources. The device supports the naming of each signal at will under multi-window. It is convenient for the user to directly call the operation of the signals. It is time-saving and convenient. Supporting IP-Video signal input Video wall controller supports IP-Video signal input and can display real time multichannel IP-Video signals on the screen. The system can ensure a flexible and effective signal transmission, and the transmission speed will not be affected. The input card can be plugged in or pulled out flexibly when needed.. Every single input card can be set to different signal input types based on different needs. Flexible and various control mode Video wall controller supports infrared, keys, RS232 serial port and network interface controller. The scene pre-stored by controller can be called through remote control or panel buttons; the computer and centre control can be conveniently connected with the controller by RS232 serial port or by Ethernet interface. The accessory window control software can provide comprehensive real time control functions and all parameters can be set by the software. Redundant power supply equipment Video wall controller can be equipped with redundant power supply based on the customer s demand. When the system are caught with the power outages and other series of failures, the system will automatically use the redundant power supply without the whole system running. The redundant power supply function is the newly developed function and it can protect the system operation and prevent the unnecessary losses caused by the power outage from improper use of the system. Good stability, long service life Without the operating system, the Video wall controller image processing equipment is free from the virus infection; with the overall state, the whole system is free from getting crashed; 10

Supporting the remote pre-monitoring function Video wall controller provides the screen pre-function and can put the screen picture on the operation interface in advance. By clicking on the software pre- monitoring button and the state synchronization, it can ensure that each display state of the main screen are predesigned to achieve the most perfect display. All signal output (60Hz) go through real-time renovation and real-time monitoring to ensure that the signals are consistent and in real time.the desktop and all signal images displayed on Video wall controller multi-screen processing system can all be displayed on the software operation interface. The operators can directly carry out real-time monitoring of display wall system, display contents and effects by the software control interface in different places through pre-monitoring function Supporting remote check-in function Video wall controller is functional for Remote Check-in, which can do real-time monitoring and unified management for the big screen. Moreover, all signals are monitored synchronously. The operator can monitor the content and effect shown on mosaic wall system intuitively to ensure its accuracy and real-time of the big screen. It is convenient for the user to adjust the screen signal at any time. Display wall system structures The simplest structure of Video wall controller large-screen display wall system includes: signal source, display wall device, control terminal and display terminal. System Connection Sketches The signal source provides the system with display signals, including computer, video, network video etc. The signal source data, through intermediate links such as distribution, transmission and switching etc. finally gets access into the splice controller. The output end can be directly connected with the analog output connector, the computer monitor or other high speed display devices. 13 Connection of video wall controller and peripheral equipment Input and output interface specification According to the different input and output signals, video wall controller can arbitrarily combine to form the proper interface. Among them, the input and output interfaces, including network video signal, HDMI high definition signal, VGA / DVI signal, CVBS composite video, and YPbPr component signals, etc. The number of interfaces varies from the 8 circuits, 16 circuits, 24 circuits, 32 circuits to 64 circuits. Specific interface terminal can refer to case screen graph. Communication port and connection methods Supplies standard COM port and the network interface. Except for switching operation with the button on the front panel, the users can also operate through various controlling system, such as PC, and other brands control system, etc. The connection of the controller and the control system The video wall controller provides standard RS-232 COM port, and user can control remotely with remote control devices. 14 The connection of the controller and the control computer The serial communication port (COM1 or COM2) of the computer is connected with RS-232 communication port of the controller with RS-232 connecting line, thereby realizing the control of the computer on the controller. When the RS-232 port on the controller is connected with a computer or centre control, attention should be paid to TXD and RXD line sequences as shown in the following figure Splicing device Computer Communication Line sketches If the users need the RS-422 port, please inform the manufacturer when an order is placed for the goods. The manufacturer provides the RS-422 adapter and the RS-232 port is still in commission. But when connected to the RS-232 wiring, the line 2 and the line 3 should be reversed. Connection method of the controller and computer signal input & Output devices The display wall system offers input and output interface terminals of different quantities indifferent models. The user can connect various devices of computer signals and super-hivision signals according to different circumstances. The output terminals can be connected to a projector, computer monitor or an amplifier. Among them, the network video signal adopts RJ45 standard interface, DVI-I interface for VGA/DVI signal, HDMI A for HD digital signal, BNC interface for composite video and component video, while multifunctional display wall device inputting adopts uniform DVI-I interface. 18 Application method of video wall controller For better operation of video wall controller, thoroughly read the introduction before using it. The basic installation processes are as follows: Preparation before debugging Before Installing the equipment,you need to prepare as follow: 1. Equipment power supply, 220VAC, the power is more than 1000W (only for display wall controlling equipment); 2. Equipment connection includes the serial port line, signal outlet line and controlling serial port line; 3. Serial port command, Baud rate 11520/9600bps, the interfaces are 2 Tx, 3 Rx and 5 Gnd, exchangeable serial port line is used. 4. Controlling equipment: One controlling computer. Serial ports or USB convertible serial ports are needed to control the equipment. 5. Display device: large-screen display or common display. Open the box to check equipment 1. Carry the device out of the box. 2. Check whether the device is completely equipped. 3. Check the input and output outlet of the device to ensure it can be connected efficiently. 4. Check whether the structures are complete and whether there are obvious damages. If any anomaly occurs, please immediately contact the manufacturer for disposal. Equipment connection According to the types of device interfaces, connect the signal sources and the output end to the correct positions respectively. Put the equipment into the cabinet, and part of the equipment attachment needs the tie-line. Various types of DVI conversion adapter in the form in the following table: DVI to 2 VGA adaptors and the maximum resolution of each VGA is1366x768. If the equipment can not display normally, please check whether the equipment connection wire is correct. Software installation and debugging Install the software to debug the device after installing and connecting the device power (Please see the Software Debugging Instructions) 19

20 Application instructions of the control panel Front panel button function instructions video wall controller 0,1, 16 Load 01 Liquid crystal display, displaying operation tips of and information of the current state of the video wall controller. Mainly used for scene transfer. Key Operation format of scene loading Video wall controller can use the front panel buttons for fast scene drawing operations (a detailed description of the key functions is shown in the Front Panel Key Functions Instruction ). The operating method is as follow: Scene number Among which, Scene number is the sequence number of the scenes stored in machine, the "1 to 16" buttons on the panel are used to draw the scene with the assigned sequence number. 20

21 Operating instructions of remote controller (optional) This device provides infrared receiver port for centre control and remote control can be achieved with attached infrared remote control (optional). Infrared remote control provides a remote, wireless and convenient method for system channel setting which is mainly used for scene loading. The basic method of using the infrared remote control is to input infrared commands by the user. Each infrared command is achieved by combination of several buttons. In order to prevent the bad influence caused by the previous inadvertent operations, we designed a time-out setting. When the users input the IR commands, the interval time between pressing two successive command keys cannot be longer than 30 seconds. Otherwise, the system will automatically clear this order. In addition, we also set the Cancel button. The user can cancel the command he is typing in. After pressing the button of the remote control, a short beep shall be heard; after a command is fulfilled, two short beep-beep shall be heard. When the remote controller is operated, the contents displayed on the screen shall change correspondingly. The key operation mode is as follows: The display wall system can use remote controller to quickly load scenes. The function of each button is the same with that of the front panel. 22 Communication protocol The system has 4 control types: serial ports, buttons, infrared and network, among which serial port control is the basic control method. There is a main RS-232 series port in the communication serial ports. These ports can be connected to ASCII / 16 terminals or any computer that has such port series. The command shall be transported to the controller through terminals or computers. The system provides a set of controlling software, which is based on the serial ports and of simple operation and convenient layout.
