Fuller Liquamelt Adhesive and Equipment Systems Repair-Parts This Discrete Gateway Module (DGM) allows the user to control a H.B. Fuller Liquamelt Adhesive and Equipment System through multiple external control devices such as contact blocks or relays. Specific user selected controls to be operated by the DGM will not be operable by the Advanced Display Module (ADM) in conjunction. 2 3A1655B

5 Module Requirements Module Requirements Each DGM requires a 9-30 VDC NEC Class 2 power supply. This is supplied to the DGM through pins 27, 51, 68, 69 on the D-Sub connection. Ground from this supply should only be connected to pin 70 of the D-Sub connection. NOTICE To avoid ground loops and noise immunity issues, do not ground the shield of the D-sub connector cable. The shield is already grounded through the mounting screw on the base of the DGM. If using a breakout board, do not make any connections to the pins with ground symbols. I/O Setup NOTE: The rotary switch (AG) must be set to the position of zero. See Setup on page 9. See the Digital I/O Overview sections beginning on the following page for I/O setup details. 6 I/O Setup DGM Digital Input Overview The digital inputs function only when power is supplied to pin 51 and there is a ground connection to pin 70. The digital input is rated at 0-30 VDC, and requires an NEC Class 2 power supply connected to pin 51. The DGM provides optical isolation as shown in the following illustration. 7 I/O Setup DGM Digital Outputs Overview The digital outputs function only when power is supplied to pins 27, 68, and 69 and there is a ground connection to pin 70. The digital output is rated at 0-30 VDC, and requires an NEC Class 2 power supply connected to pin 27 for supply bank 1, pin 69 for supply bank 2, and pin 68 for supply bank 3. The DGM provides optical isolation as shown in the following illustration. 9 Setup Setup See Typical Installation on page 3 for an assembled view. 1. Install the DGM in the desired location. 2. Adjust DGM selector switch (AG) to zero. AG a. Remove access cover (AD). Loosen two screws (AC) and remove DGM (AA) from base (AB). c. Attach ground wire to bottom of base. d. Mount base (AB) in desired location with four screws. See the following mounting dimensions. Disconnect the Advanced Display Module (ADM) CAN cable from the bulkhead connector in. (82.6 mm) e. Insert screws through top of base and tighten. f. Insert screw through ground wire and tighten. g. 10 Setup b. Connect the CAN splitter to the bulkhead connector. c. Connect the CAN cable from Connector 1 on the DGM to the CAN splitter. d. Connect ADM CAN cable to the open port found on the CAN splitter. 5. Set the ADM to recognize the DGM. a. With power applied to the system, press to access the Setup screens. b. Press the left or right arrow key to navigate to the main Machine screen. e. Connect D-Sub cable from D-Sub Connector on the DGM to the breakout board. f. Connect leads from breakout board to the corresponding inputs/outputs on the external control device. Refer to DGM Pin Assignments on page 8 for details. c. Press to enter the screen. d. Select the Gateway Installed box and press to enable the DGM. e. Press to exit the screen. 10 3A1655B

11 Setup 6. Enable/disable the input controls that are to be recognized by the DGM. NOTE: The Gateway Setup screen is used to configure the DGM. This screen is shown only if a DGM is correctly installed in your system. NOTE: The Run screens will now have two Gateway screens for referencing which controls are currently on/off. Gateway Screen 1 shows inputs while Gateway Screen 2 shows outputs. a. Press the left or right arrow key to navigate to the main Gateway screen. b. Press to enter the screen. c. Press to select to enable/disable the specific Gateway control. NOTE: The above step allows the user to enable/disable the specific input controls that are to be recognized by the DGM. d. Press to exit the screen when the specific user controls have been enabled/disabled. e. Press to access the Run screens. 3A1655B 11

12 Operation Operation DGM Digital Inputs See DGM Digital Inputs table in the DGM Pin Assignments section beginning on page 8 for pin numbers associated with each bit description. I/O Function Interlocks A high signal for a given line tells the DGM to perform the respective system action described in the Digital Inputs table. A low signal tells the DGM to deactivate the item. DGM Digital Outputs See DGM Digital Outputs table in the DGM Pin Assignments section beginning on page 8 for pin numbers associated with each bit description. A high signal for a given line means that the respective system status description in the Digital Outputs table is true. A low signal means that the status description is false. NOTE: The DGM heat input must be on for the standby input to function. Auto-standby and auto-off will function despite DGM controls. If auto-standy and auto-off timers expire while the DGM heat control is enabled, the system goes to standby or inactive mode. If this occurs, the DGM heat control must be reset by deactivating and then reactivating the signal. Pressing will still shut down the system despite the DGM power control. If this occurs, the DGM power control must be reset by deactivating and then reactivating the signal. Scheduler is disabled if power and heat controls are enabled by the DGM. 12 3A1655B

13 Maintenance Maintenance Install Upgrade Token Note: The DGM connection to the system is temporarily disabled during the installation of the upgrade token. Check Cable Connections Ensure all cables are securely connected to DGM connectors. 1. Use software token 16K453. See Graco Control Architecture Module Programming manual for instructions. NOTE: Upgrade all modules in the system to the software version on the token, even if you are replacing only one or two modules. Different software versions may not be compatible. All data in the module may be reset to factory default settings. Record all settings and user preferences before the upgrade, for ease of restoring them following the upgrade. 18 Liquamelt Packaging Adhesive Equipment System Warranty for North America End Users* Graco warrants to the end user ( End User ) of the Liquamelt Packaging Adhesive System that all equipment referenced in this document which is manufactured by Graco to be free from defects in material and workmanship on the date of sale from Graco to H.B. Fuller Company ( Fuller ). Graco will, for the following periods of time, from the date of sale of the equipment to Fuller, repair or replace any part of the equipment determined by Graco to be defective: Liquamelt Packaging Adhesive System Component: Warranty Period (Years): TurboActivator component 1 Equipment System (excludes TurboActivator component) 3 This warranty applies only when the equipment is installed, operated and maintained in accordance with Graco's written recommendations. This warranty does not cover, and Graco shall not be liable for general wear and tear, or any malfunction, damage or wear caused by faulty installation, misapplication, abrasion, corrosion, inadequate or improper maintenance, negligence, accident, tampering, or substitution of non-graco component parts. Nor shall Graco be liable for malfunction, damage or wear caused by the incompatibility of the Equipment System with structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco, or the improper design, manufacture, installation, operation or maintenance of structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco. This warranty is conditioned upon verification by Graco of the claimed defect. If the claimed defect is verified, Graco will repair or replace free of charge any defective parts. The equipment will be returned to Fuller or the End User per Fuller's instructions, transportation prepaid. If inspection of the equipment or component does not disclose any defect in material or workmanship, repairs will be made at a reasonable charge, which charges may include the costs of parts, labor, and transportation. If a warranty claim is denied, End User may be responsible for repair charges in the event an invoice for repair is issued to End User by Fuller or Graco. THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE, AND IS IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Graco's sole obligation and End User's sole remedy for any breach of warranty shall be as set forth above. The End User agrees that no other remedy (including, but not limited to, incidental or consequential damages for lost profits, lost sales, injury to person or property, or any other incidental or consequential loss) shall be available from either Fuller or Graco. Any action for breach of warranty must be brought within two (2) years of the date of discovery of the warranty claim. In no event will Graco be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages resulting from Graco supplying equipment hereunder, or the furnishing, performance, or use of any products or other goods sold hereto, whether due to a breach of contract, breach of warranty, the negligence of Graco, or otherwise. In no event will Fuller be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages resulting from the sale of the equipment hereunder, or the furnishing, performance, or use of any products or other goods sold hereto, whether due to a breach of contract, breach of warranty, the negligence of Fuller, or otherwise.
