1. Introduction The indigowall - User Manual Congratulations and thank you for purchasing a indigowall from the LapSafe indigo range. Your indigowall comes with a life-time parts and labour warranty which you will need to activate immediately (Section 6). This manual guides you through the set-up and correct use of your product, for instructions on how to install your indigowall please refer to your installation guide supplied with your unit for further information. Box contents: 1 x indigowall (ChargeLine or Charge and Sync version) 1 x Mounting bracket (supplied fitted to indigowall) 2 x Painted end panels 6 x Securing screws (supplied fitted to mounting bracket) 8 x End panel fixing screws 1 x User guide 1 x Installation guide 1 x Set of device number stickers & cable management pack 2. Important actions Upon delivery and before installation of your new indigowall you must: Make a note of your indigowall serial number, which can be found on a label on the top of the unit which begins with the letters IND. You will need to quote this number for all enquiries relating to this wall unit so store this information in a safe place. Also make a note of your key number(s). The number is actually on the key itself and you will need this if you should ever wish to order additional keys for this indigowall. Also store this information in a safe place. Visit lapsafe.com/activate to activate your Lifetime warranty. Your warranty will not be valid unless you do this. Read the section on Health & Safety (Section 8) 4
3. Getting started The indigowall - User Manual Unlocking/locking door: Use the key with the GREY key cover to unlock the front door(s). From the locked position, align the nib of the key with the notch in the front of lock at the 12 o clock position and gently press the key into the keyway until it stops. Whilst maintaining some pressure on the key, turn it ¼ turn to disengage the door locks. The key may be removed from the lock in the un-locked position. The door can now be slid to the open position. The key can only be put back into the lock in the same position that it was removed. Behind each sliding door is a storage module that hinges out of the indigowall to make the individual storage slots available. Gently pull on the outer edge of the module to bring it forwards and press it closed with the palm of the hand. To lock the front door(s) it is the reverse of unlocking. Slide the door to the closed position, insert the key and turn the key back to the 12 o clock position and remove the key from the lock. 5
4. ChargeLine Model If you have chosen an indigowall ChargeLine 10 your wall unit is built to allow you to use the AC adaptors that were supplied with your devices. Some AC adapters can be described as in-plug where they plug directly into a socket and the charging lead goes directly to the device, and others can be described as in-line where they have a mains lead between the power socket and the AC adapter and then a charging lead going to the device. 4.1 Setting up To the right of the sliding door is a removable panel that must be removed to access the power sockets for your AC adapters. Use a small pozidrive screwdriver to remove the four screws, one in each corner, that secure the panel and carefully place it to one side. Inside this compartment are the power sockets for your AC adapters and two shelves to accommodate in-line AC adapters. Each shelf has two locating positions or they can be removed altogether if they are not required, as in the case of in-plug AC adapters. Adjust the shelves to suit your needs. To help with identification of your AC adapters and their charging leads we have supplied sets of numbered stickers and we recommend that a corresponding numbered sticker is affixed to the adapter and to the device connector. Once they have been numbered, load the AC adapters and pass the charging lead through the cable-slot in the side of the compartment into the cable-slot of the module. The charging connectors will appear at the other end of the module cable slot above their appropriate storage slots. Working at the outer edge of the module, draw enough length of the charging leads through the cable-slot so they won t slip back and then locate a foam, cable-manager. Each lead should be passed through the correct slot in the cable-manager in order to locate it above its designated storage slot. Decide on the length of lead that will be required at the edge of the module to best suit your devices and then fit a cable tie behind the foam to retain the lead before pressing the cable-manager into the cable slot. Draw any excess charging lead 6
back into the power compartment but do not secure the leads as they will need to move a little as the module is hinged. Replace the removable panel and secure it with all four screws. Place a device into each storage/charging bay one device per bay - and connect its charging lead. There is no external indication of the state of charge of individual devices with the ChargeLine charging option. 5. CS Pro Model If you have chosen an indigowall CS Pro 16 with USB Charge & Sync then your wall unit has been fitted with a LapSafe, 16 way, USB charge management board that is ready to accept the charging leads for your USB devices. The same USB connection lead will be available for synchronisation connectivity, should that be required. (Section 5.2) You do not require the AC adaptors that come with your devices to be fitted into this indigowall. 5.1 Setting up Between the two sliding doors is a removable service plate that has the indigo logo label fitted that will need to be taken off to access the USB sockets on the charge management unit. Use a small pozidrive screwdriver to remove the four screws, one in each corner, that secure the panel and carefully place it to one side. Inside the centre compartment is a row of 16 USB sockets and each USB socket is numbered to correspond with a storage bay and an indicating LED. To help with the identification of your USB leads we have supplied sets of numbered stickers and we recommend that a corresponding numbered sticker is affixed to the connector plug at each end of each USB lead. Once they have been labelled, plug each USB lead into its appropriate USB socket and pass the other end (the device end) through the appropriate cable-slot in the 7
side of the centre compartment into the cable slot of the module. The USB cables will appear at the other end of the module cable slot above their appropriate storage slots. Working at the outer edge of the module, draw enough length of the USB leads through the cable-slot so they won t slip back and then locate a foam, cable-manager. Draw any excess USB lead back into the central compartment but do not secure the leads as they will need to move a little as the module is hinged. Replace the removable panel and secure it with all four screws. Place a device into each storage/charging bay one device per bay - and connect its USB lead. As each device is connected the USB charge management board will configure itself to charge all connected devices in the fastest possible time. This process can take a few minutes and requires a number of automatic re-starts and is completely normal. 5.2 USB 3 Connectivity & Synchronisation If you have chosen an indigowall CS Pro 16 with USB Charge & Sync for tablets such as ipads, then, in addition to charging, your wall unit will allow you to connect to all of your devices from a host computer (MacBook or PC) for data transfer and/or synchronisation while they are secure and charging inside the unit. NOTE: All of the LapSafe indigo Charge & Sync products support USB3 data transfer speeds although USB3 systems must be end-to-end capable for the system to connect and function at full speed. Any connected device that might have a slower connection speed (USB2) will cause the entire system to function at a reduced speed. On the underside of the wall unit is a USB3 sockets that connects to the 16 8
devices. To begin data transfer or synchronisation attach a host PC to the USB3 socket. When a host PC is connected a beep will sound and the indicator LED s on the front of the trolley will flash slowly to show the change of status. Different operating systems require different software or applications in order to manage multiple data transfer or synchronisations. Note: When connected to a host PC for synchronisation or data transfer most devices reduce their rate of charge and they only return to full rate charging when the host device is disconnected. The LapSafe, 16 way, USB3 charge management board has a time-out on the period of reduced rate charging that returns devices to full rate after 120 minutes should the host PC not be unplugged. (default is 120 minutes but this is adjustable between 1 and 760 mins) 6. Warranty All Indigo products are supported by a Lifetime Parts & Labour Warranty. To activate your FREE Lifetime Parts and Labour Warranty, please refer to the warranty documentation inside your welcome pack or go on-line and register at 7. Care and maintainance Dos Lock your indigowall when not in use Keep your keys in a safe place and not in the same room as the indigowall Read the Health and Safety guidelines in the user guide and share this information with all users Activate your warranty at lapsafe.com/activate Unplug charging leads before removing devices Don ts Do not try to modify the unit in anyway without contacting LapSafe first to check that it is safe to do so. Failure to do this may invalidate your warranty. 9
8. Health & Safety The indigowall - User Manual All products manufactured by LapSafe Products have been thoroughly tested and certified by an authorised and INDEPENDENT testing house before sale. Full CE compliance, which includes the requirements of LVD and EMC directives, is a STANDARD FEATURE of any solution manufactured by LapSafe Products, as are many more built in safety features. CE Marking can be found on the product serial number plate, usually at the lower rear of the cabinet. CE Declaration of Conformity Certificate is issued with each product in the User Guide Pack. Please be advised of the following safety advice: At no time are the service areas of the indigowall to be opened by anyone other than an authorised person. WARNING: Hand and power tools can be dangerous when used incorrectly and the user should be trained to use work equipment and have an understanding of the HSE leaflet, using work equipment safely (INDG229) Please also refer to the manufacturers documentation for specific information about the equipment you are using. WARNING: Because surfaces vary widely and the fitting location and method of fixing is out of LapSafe Product s control, it is imperative that you consult with appropriate engineering, architectural, or construction professional to ensure that your indigowall is mounted properly and that the substrate is suitable to handle applied loads. WARNING: Before removing or accessing any service area unplug or turn the power to the unit off. IMPORTANT: Installation must be carried out by two responsible persons and care should be taken when lifting the indigowall unit into position. 10
Safety Declaration Recent guidance from the Health and Safety Executive regarding Laptop computer charging trolleys safety alert requires interpretation from each manufacturer as regards to their product compliance. The HSE statement can be found at: CE Testing, Conformity and Declaration of LapSafe Products At LapSafe Products we are proud to confirm that ALL of our electrical products, going back over ten years, have been thoroughly tested and certified (by an authorised and INDEPENDENT testing house) and accordingly have been clearly CE marked. Full CE compliance, which includes the requirements of LVD and EMC directives, is a STANDARD FEATURE of LapSafe Products, as are many more built in safety features. CE Marking can be found on the product serial number plate, usually at the lower rear of the cabinet. CE Declaration of Conformity Certificate is issued with each product in the User Guide Pack. You may obtain further copies of the certificate specific to your product and serial number, or any further information and advice, upon request to our Customer support call direct or FREEPHONE the switchboard on or support@lapsafe.com. Rest assured that your LapSafe Product has been designed and built with Safety as the highest priority since we first introduced the concept of the mobile laptop trolley into the UK market in the last century. This is, indeed, why we are called Lap SAFE. Residual Voltage The HSE has raised a concern (having identified at least one particular manufacturer s trolleys with this characteristic ) that many manufacturers trolleys (if indeed not the vast majority), may have a momentary residual voltage on the pins of the mains plug and that this could, if you touched the pins within a second or two of unplugging, result in an electric shock. LapSafe Products have been designed from the outset with safety internal circuitry as standard so as NOT to retain or present any significant residual voltage in this way. In fact, it is virtually impossible to get any such significant electric shock from our cabinets in normal use. However, regardless of how safe any particular trolley may be, we endorse the recommendations for employing common sense practise as a generic rule for any mobile electrical appliance, such as switching off the mains socket before unplugging the power leads and NOT moving the trolleys without disconnecting and unplugging the power leads at both ends. Two of the wheels are fitted with locks as standard and should be kept locked as a reminder when power is connected and as a general safety rule as per the user instructions supplied with each cabinet.
