5 Australia/New Zealand Collaboration - SDP NZ Alliance engaged in the SDP consortium ICRAR using NZ company, Nyriad, as their industrial partner - Nyriad recently completed a $8.5m capital raising - Nyriad s resilient storage solution (Radio Astronomy Block Device) is being optimised for Radio astronomy s data access patterns - Deployed on MWA - other commercial applications outside of astronomy

6 Australia/New Zealand Collaboration - CSP CSIRO, AUT and ASTRON working together on the SKA Low Correlator and Beamformer. 3 years of information and technology transfer and creation! Recognised by CSIRO Swinburne and AUT working together on Pulsar Timing

8 Early Production Arrays The aim of the Early Production Arrays is to reduce risk for the delivery of the construction phase and increase the probability that performance cost and schedule are maintained.

9 Early Production Arrays Relieves the critical path of the construction schedule by allowing the industrialisation phase to move forward. Creates continuity for some teams involved in the Pre-construction phase. Allows early site integration with other SKA teams. Work scope is almost fully within planned construction work; thereby minimising additional cost on the project. Allows an early demonstration of a working SKA array to mitigate the political risk of having a long inactive period on site.

11 Expression of Interest Seeking to identify the procurement interests of Member countries Approx. 10 Tier 1 contracts for SKA Low - SKA Low CSP contract will cover the following WBS elements: delivery management, AIV, training, CSP Low delivery and the correlator beamformer 12 week process Collaboration encouraged

13 Future Opportunities Regional Data Centre - Australia looking to establish a centre - seeking to maximise our science return - Capital cost of about $20m - Operational cost of about $8m/year - NZ part of ERIDANUS Exchanges - Australia currently hosting UK data scientists - Australians seconded to the SKA Organisation SDP, SaDT and/or CSP Infrastructure power? Does it have to be related to radioastronomy?
