For agencies, AET offers a way to operate more efficiently and at higher capacities. HNTB helps clients ensure certain factors are in place for AET to be successful. I-15 Priced Managed Lanes Program Sophisticated tolling system is the world s first fully dynamic variable-priced corridor Miami-Dade Expressway Florida HNTB was responsible for final civil and structural design services for the world s first fully dynamic variable pricing on 20 miles of I-15. The San Diego Association of Governments project constructed the express lanes in the median, widened the current two-lane facility to four lanes and added a movable barrier. HNTB developed initial planning studies, performance requirements and a unique algorithm that updates the price at various entry points every three to six minutes based on traffic levels. Further, HNTB helped draft a request for proposals, as well as evaluate, select and negotiate the toll system integrator s contract. During implementation, HNTB provided oversight for the toll system design, approved commissioning of the system and reviewed and approved testing. Florida s Turnpike All-Electronic Tolling

Illinois Tollway s Congestion-Relief Program HNTB helps deliver program at record pace 183A Texas HNTB was the program manager for the Illinois Tollway s Congestion-Relief Program: Open Roads for a Faster Future, which widened and constructed existing highways, constructed a new 12.5-mile extension of a major corridor and converted 20 mainline toll plazas to open-road tolling in one-fifth of the time it would have normally taken. HNTB created programwide benefits: implementing the Tollway s first web-based program management system; incorporating innovations that streamlined program delivery and saved costs; and completing ISO quality audits that ensured compliance with all program requirements. Hardy Toll Road HNTB helps client bring toll road into the future New Gloucester Toll Facilities Express E-Z Pass Conversion Maine HNTB assisted the Harris County Toll Road Authority with its first major overhaul of the Hardy Toll Road since it opened 27 years ago. The makeover, a total of nine projects planned along the 21-mile tollway, added capacity to handle growth in northern Harris County. HNTB engineered 10 of the bridges, which required widening to accommodate the additional lane. The firm also provided specialty engineering services to salvage and increase the service life of the existing bridge structures, which helped HCTRA avoid significant reconstruction, traffic impacts and loss of revenue. 8 I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Maine Turnpike Authority Open Road Tolling Conversion HNTB s expertise helps deliver Florida s largest transportation infrastructure project HNTB helps bring open road tolling to state HNTB provided construction engineering and inspection for the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements, which squeezes a threelane reversible expressway into the median and improves frontage roads, ramps and interchanges, including the mainline. To handle the massive volume of construction, HNTB developed automated witness-and-hold software, which helped efficiently schedule staff and maintain project compliance. HNTB also recommended value-engineering concepts, such as micro piles instead of pipe piles, which significantly advanced work on a complex interchange and reduced impacts to commuters, surrounding businesses and universities. HNTB provided project management, traffic planning, civil engineering design, toll system procurement and oversight and construction services for the Maine Turnpike Authority s toll plaza conversion project in New Gloucester. As the state s first open road tolling lanes, the project scope involved removal of four lanes of traditional slow-speed toll lanes from the center of the existing mainline toll plaza on Interstate 95 to make way for highway-speed EZPass-only lanes.
