11 OBJECTIVE To have a secured and reliable government infrastructure that will host critical and common applications: ü Government Internet ü National Government Data Centers ü Government Cloud ü Government Web Hosting Service (AO 39)
12 Government Internet This is a government network connected thru fiber optic technology for selected agencies in NCR (160) and Cebu (12 initially) IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY: Build our own government network by laying fiber optic cable to connect critical national government agencies and encouraging them to adopt a standard network design
13 Fiber Core Network Fiber optic cables connect government agencies to a data center, which acts as the medium of communications, traffic controller, server and applications host, and keeper and manager of data Target No. of Agencies: 160 Signed MOA/Conforme: 134 Fiber-to-the-Building installation: 104 Optical Distibution Frame Installation: 99 Network equipment and IP addresses deployed: 40 The use of fiber optic cable (FOC) will help people in government communicate faster, coordinate activities better, facilitate collaborative work and increase productivity, resulting in speedier and more efficient delivery of goods and services to citizens.
14 National Government Data Centers Two operational data centers are located in Quezon City and Makati City. Two data centers will also be established in SBMA and Cebu City. IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY: Build government controlled data centers in cooperation with DOST-ASTI
15 National Government Data Centers The NGDC allows the consolidation of government's ICT resources that will lead to optimized operations and improved security and disaster readiness. BENEFITS igovphil currently has three DCs: Reduce government spending Improve overall IT capability NGDC 1 Completed renovation and refurbishment NGDC 2 Complete, but procurement of racks is still in process NGDC 3 To be ready by mid-2015 Increase efficiency Free Number of agencies colocated NGDC 1 4 agencies NGDC 2 3 agencies
16 Government Cloud The GovCloud is a platform used to improve processes and deliver services efficiently to the people through virtualization of resources, such as servers, storage, devices, and software. SERVICES Virtual machines BENEFITS Virtual machines (VMs) for rapid deployment of network and network applications with the ability to scale up or down according to an agency's computing workload. 21 PhPay An Internet-based electronic payment facility and gateway that will enable citizens and businesses to remit payments electronically to government agencies. 23 Government Project Management Information System (PMGov) Online project management application that allows project proponents to collaborate from initiaion to planning and design, execution, monitoring and evaluation, to closing of projects. 25 Public Key Infrastructure Sign electronic documents and forms Encrypt s and messages Authenticate web applications and user Secure VPNs and wireless networks PKI is essentially a set of hardware, software, policies, personnel and procedures needed to create, manage, distribute, use, store and revoke digital certificates. It allows users of public networks to privately exchange data securely. Issued digital certificates: Individuals: 635 SSL: 37 Agencies: 5 Digital certificates are files that can be stored on your computer or USB token containing the user s personal information that allows a person, computer or organization to exchange information securely.
