1 V10 Setup-Instructions (Single Users & Networking Environments)

2 Content: These Setup-instructions shall help you during Installation/Configuration of TaskTimer V10 whether you are a Single User environment or a Network. It is important, that you allow yourself enough time and you have all relevant information about your available environment (e.g. for networking environment: IP-address of server or host name, where database is available) and you have all needed privileges to work with installation/configurations on your local device (e.g. member of local administrator-group). Now all the steps needed for a successful installation are described individually. Please read instructions carefully or contact your Network Administrator if you need help. Some of the instructions (text in BOLD letters) provided in this document are NOT relevant for Single user environments. Please disregard them. To us, a networking environment consists of 1 centralized database and more than 1 user linked to that database. 1. Please download latest TaskTimer V10 Install-Package from WWW to your local machine (e.g. your desktop) 2. To start the Installation on Windows Vista and Windows 7 right click on Installer-Package and select: "Run as administrator".

3 3. Answer Yes to Security questions 3. Select prefer language

4 4. Click Next on Welcome Screen.

5 5. Please read "End User License Agreement carefully. If you accept this agreement, click "I agree". 6. On the next screen you will be able to select the kind of installation you need to complete. In this area the installation between a Single user and a Networking Environments begins to differ. Choose one of the following selections: - Complete Installation (for Single users) - Connect to a database (local installation with connectivity to centralized database) - Database Server Only (for Setting up Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere on 32Bit Server environments, only) - Custom

6 Please select the most suitable Installation procedure and click "Next".

7 Setup for Single Users: 7. Select path to where do you want to have TaskTimer installed and click "Install".

8 8. Select TaskTimer user level to be installed. If you are in doubt, please select either PMP or FUSION since the final provided functionality within TaskTimer is controlled by the license numbers.

9 9. Please indicate a folder, where TaskTimer should place your database. We recommend you choose ODBC DSN type "All users" and as Execution for Database Server "Service" for Windows XP and newer Operating Systems. Than click "Next". 10. TaskTimer will be installed according to your selection and all necessary settings will be taken. After the installation-procedure you can start TaskTimer and begin to setup a new database, using database driver TT_DB10.

10 Setup for Network Environments with Sybase database: With the following instructions we assume, that TaskTimer database and a service have been already setup correctly and requests on Port TCP 2638 for Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere databases have all been answered. Important: the procedure for environments with MSSQL-database does not differ from Sybase database-environments, but ODBC drivers have to be setup manually. Please ask your Network Administrator for login credentials or contact your local reseller. 11. Select on the Screen "Connect to a Database" and click "Next".

11 12. Now, select folder where the installer should installed program files and executables for TaskTimer, click "Install

12 13. Select the user level where TaskTimer should be installed. If you are in doubt, please select either PMP or FUSION as final provided functionality within TaskTimer is controlled by license numbers.

13 14. De-select "Database will reside on this machine (local database) and provide Host name or IP-address to connect to centralized database (Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere, only). If you intend to use MSSQL, please select: "Don't Create ODBC" and provide ODBC-settings manually. Leave ODBC DSN type to "All users" and click "Next". 15. Installation should now be completed and all TaskTimer settings available will be included in your local machine.

14 16. Please DON'T start TaskTimer first you MUST de-select "Run TT 10" and click "Finish" to close Installer.

Depending on whether TaskTimer installation is on a 64- or 32Bit-Operating System, ODBC settings can be found in different places on your local machine: for 32bit environments: Please click on "Start" and type "odbcad32" in Search-field. press Enter to proceed. for 64bit environments: Open up Windows Explorer and change to your hard-disk c:, folder "Windows", folder "SysWOW64". Within this folder you will find a program named "odbcad32". Please launch this application double clicking on it. The following screens are now again valid for 32- as well as 64-bit environments:

16 18. Double click System Data Soruce "TT_DB10" within Tab "System DSN". You will get a screen showing you all connection details to access your TaskTimer Database. Please be very careful changing/modifying entries as this might affect your access to TaskTimer database!

If your settings do match these two screenshots and Host-name or IPaddress of your Server have been correctly set, you should now be able to test access your database by clicking on ODBC and "Test connection".
