1 Introduction Jonas Data Mart is used for reporting and analysis and focuses on data storage. Data stored here is updated in real-time. 3 Setting up Jonas for 1. Log into Jonas and go to the System Administration -> System Setup -> System Parameters. Click on the Construction Data Mart link on the right-hand side. 2. Click on the Active checkbox and type in the name of your SQL Server. The Database name should always be JonasConstructionDM. The User and Password fields are not needed if your SQL Server is set up for Windows authentication and the current account has the necessary rights on the SQL Server. Otherwise, this is where the sa (SQL Login) account and password are specified. 3 of 17

4 3. Click on Test Connection in order to verify your settings. 4. When ready (and all users are off the system), click on Database Synch. This will start the process of copying the Jonas records into the SQL database. A general guideline as to how long this process will take is about 1.5hrs per Gigabyte of information. 4 of 17

5 5. Once this process is underway, you may allow users back into the system. Note: 6. On the server, start the Datamart interface located in System Administration -> System Setup -> Datamart Interface. This process should remain active from this point on for the Jonas records to be synchronized with the SQL database. You may want to create a separate Jonas account that only has access to this function. Your setup is now complete. Leave the Jonas Datamart Interface running from now on, and should your server require a restart, log into Jonas and ensure the interface is running. 5 of 17

6 How to Edit the Power Pivot Job Cost Reporting Model and Connect to a Data Source In order to access the Power Pivot Reporting Models, please complete the following steps: 1) Jonas Construction SQL database JonasConstructionDM must be synchronized with Jonas ( 01 Procedural Guide.docx ) 2) Install Power Pivot for Excel 32 bit (02PowerPivot_Details.docx) 3) Open the JC_MonthlyCostReportAllCompaniesNov25.xlsx 4) Go to the Power Pivot Tab -> Power Pivot Window 6 of 17

7 5) Go to the Design tab. 6) Press Existing Connection to connect to your SQL Server 7 of 17

9 Construction Data Mart Configuration System Administration -> System Setup -> System Parameters ~ Construction Data Mart Use this screen to configure Data Mart. See information on the individual fields below. Active This option must be set to TRUE for Database Sync. Server Enter the name of your SQL Server instance that will host the Jonas Data Mart. Database Enter the name of your Data Mart database as was defined during the initial installation 9 of 17

10 process. User Enter the 'sa' account name associated with your Data Mart configuration. Password Enter the 'sa' password associated with your Data Mart configuration. Group ID This field facilitates the highest level of report consolidation in a multi-site Data Mart configuration. Use this field to group multiple sites together (i.e. East, West, Gold, Platinum) for reporting purposes. CPU Wait Time This setting is designed to throttle the mitigation of records from the core Jonas application to the SQL Data Mart database in an effort to decrease CPU usage. A CPU Wait Time = '0' means no throttling (i.e. maximum throughput). We advocate leaving this setting at '1' however, feel free to experiment in your particular environment. 10 of 17

11 How to Create a Report Step 1: Go to System Administration -> System Setup -> Data Mart Interface and let it run (leave it on). Step 2: Open up a brand new session of Jonas Step 3: Go to Microsoft Excel 2010 (ensure you have downloaded Power Pivot before you do this). Note: Excel 2010 and the PowerPivot for Excel add-in are required for creating and using PowerPivot data. You must have Excel 2010, as earlier versions will not work with. Step 4: In Excel, click on the Power Pivot TAB and go to Power Pivot Window Launch. 11 of 17

12 Step 5: Click the From Database option/tab, then click on From SQL Server. Step 6: In the Server Name field, use the pull down menu option to choose your server. 12 of 17

13 Step 7: Ensure that USE SQL SERVER AUTHENTICATION is chosen and enter the Username and Password. Username: Datamart Password: datamart (all lower case) And click NEXT at the bottom of the screen. Step 8: SELECT the button that states Select from a list of tables and views to choose the data to import And click Next. 13 of 17

14 Step 9: A list of tables will populate on the screen (see Jonas Help docs for more information on the Data Dictionary feature). Select the Source Table fields (by clicking and check-marking the empty white boxes to the left of the screen) that you would like to include in the report. Step 10: Click on the Preview & Filter button at the bottom of the screen (PREVIEW is recommended before you click Finish to ensure that you have selected the correctly desired fields). 14 of 17

15 Step 11: While in the PREVIEW window you can UNSELECT the columns that you do NOT want to include in the report by removing the check mark beside the column heading name. Click on the OK button located at the bottom of the PREVIEW screen when you are satisfied with your choices. Step 12: Click on Finish at the bottom right corner of the screen 15 of 17

16 Step 13: Wait for the Table Import Wizard screen to finish and it will say SUCCESS (as seen below) if completed correctly. Step 14: Click CLOSE at the bottom right hand corner of the Importing screen. 16 of 17

17 Step 15: Information will then be imported and sent to an EXCEL POWER PIVOT window. Step 16: Click on the Tab called Pivot Table and select the ACTION you wish to perform from the pull down list of options. 17 of 17
