10 Title of the project Online Bus Reservation Drawback of the Project There are many weaknesses of the current system whose deficiency affects the company s growth and overall performance which force the company to look at other alternatives. These weaknesses are mentioned as follows. 1. The current system is not able to provide customers online ticket booking, they can make only inquiry. And if want to book tell them through mail or contact number. 2. Often happens that prank customers making inquires so it becomes difficult to manage their inquires. 3. Company needs to update bus details regularly as per the requirements of the customers. 4. The company requires interacting with each and every customer to satisfy their requirements. 5. In the current system is not able to provide customer to do the payment through credit card, they give the amount through cash or cheque. 6. In this system the sales tax is not calculated. Need of an Update System The main weaknesses of the current desktop system suggest the company to build new system with will remove the deficiency of the current system. There are many reasons why new system is required and that are as follows 1. Current Working System unable to meet the goal and performance. 2. Current Computer Based System is not able to achieve Higher Efficiency with the increasing number of requirements of the members. 3. With current System it is not possible to attract the people to become company s customers. 4. The Success Ratio of the membership holders is less then the actually anticipated by the company.

11 5. The Increasing popularity of the web based system made up mind the entrepreneur to change the current system to achieve the company s milestone. 6. To accommodate scalable features it is essential to make a new web based System which handles all the requirement without much or any intervention of the staff of the company. 7. Maintaining all records in such a way that when it is needed it will present is become more easy with the web based Systems. 8. Detailed Description of the project Project Scope The Project, titled Online Bus Reservation System comprise of the development of website that contains various facilities and services for different users. The design and all the facilities are stand alone or in an integrated environment. Reusability is taken care of. The GUI is flexible to handle the changes in the type and number of processes. New facilities can be plugged-in any time, either to replace the old ones, or for adding new facilities to the system. Online Bus Reservation System is website based on VISUAL STUDIO This website is meant to provide services like online bus booking, ticket booking etc. This website also provides the searching facilities like route search, bus search. This website would be beneficial to travel companies and users who want to plan the journey online.

12 Current System For more Project Report visit Right now company doing all the bookings of customer manually, they don t have any online facility that customer can search or do registration. Customer has to visit the nearest office to book his journey. Proposed System The Company looking for the user-friendly Website that helps the user to find its own choice route and bus. It also helps the administrator to update and maintain the website. The administrator can update, add and delete the route, bus. This system also helps the customer to do plan his journey. The customer can do online booking for the journey. The customer can cancel his journey online there is no need to visit the branch. So this website fulfills its entire requirement online. The customer easily finds the details of its favorite locations. In this website, user can also cancel his/her reserved tickets. We also provide the security facility in this travelling website, only authorized person can use his/her account. In this website, the administrator upload the latest NEWS on the home page of the website, so user can easily get the late route information, canceled route information. If nay new service is added than user can get information about that service and used it. Description There are three types of website in the market. i) Informative Website

13 ii) Personal Website iii) Professional Website Either of three we try to make a Personal website. This website is divided into two modules. 1. Admin Module 2. Customer Module Admin Module An administrator is a user who manages the operational aspects of a system. Generally, the owner of a system is usually an administrator or he/she appoints system administrator. The exact scope of the role varies according to the software in use, but in most cases, the administrator sets configuration options and manages user accounts. The administrator may also customize group permissions. An administrator's user-name, posts or signature might be marked with a special indicator, or a different avatar might be used. In many cases on larger boards, an administrator may appoint one or more "co-administrators" or moderators. They typically have the same access and power as other administrators, but in many cases the appointing administrator will limit that user's power so they may not edit high-risk settings or the owner's account. Customer A customer is someone who makes use for booking the ticket online. Customer needs may be defined as the bus services. Different needs are of varying importance to the customer. Customer can search the details of the bus. Requirement Analysis & Definition All possible requirements of the system to be developed are captured in this phase. Requirements are set of functionalities and constraints that the end-user (who will

14 be using the system) expects from the system. The requirements are gathered from the end-user by consultation, these requirements are analyzed for their validity and the possibility of incorporating the requirements of the system to be development is also studied. In this system if any business man is getting loss in his products, then that business keep there product to on our site, to check whether he is getting the profit or loss in his products. Finally he comes to know that how many user are interested in there product. Finally, a Requirement Specification document is created which serves the purpose of guideline for the next phase of the model. System & Software Design Before a starting for actual coding, it is highly important to understand what we are going to create and what it should look like? The requirement specifications from first phase are studied in this phase and system design is prepared. System Design helps in specifying hardware and system requirements and also helps in defining overall system architecture. The system design specifications serve as input for the next phase of the model. Implementation & Unit Testing On receiving system design documents, the work is divided in modules/units and actual coding is started. The system is first developed in small programs called units, which are integrated in the next phase. Each unit is developed and tested for its functionality; this is referred to as Unit Testing. Unit testing mainly verifies if the modules/units meet their specifications. Integration & System Testing As specified above, the system is first divided in units, which are developed and tested for their functionalities. These units are integrated into a complete system during Integration phase and tested to check if all modules/units coordinate between each other and the system as a whole behaves as per the specifications. After successfully testing the software, it is delivered to the customer.

15 Feasibility study An important outcome of the preliminary investigation phase of the System Development Life Cycle is the determination that the system requested is feasible. There are three aspects in the feasibility study portion of the preliminary investigation viz. Technical Feasibility, Economic Feasibility and Operational Feasibility. The main aim of carrying out the feasibility study was to determine how feasible the proposed system is to the organization and what changes are required for the same. Technical Feasibility The Unique InfoTech is a very well equipped company having a very good technical equipment set-up for Information Technology. So there is no doubt that the technology being used at here is the most advanced and well set-up. The company also having very latest versions of software being used in market. Like SQL Server 2005 and VISUAL STUDIO Also the computing system being used here are very powerful systems providing a very good performance. Due to the system is a live one, one must take care of all type of risks including technical risks like I discussed. The employees in the company are very professional and having bulks of knowledge in any programming language. At backend we use SQL Server 2005 for better compatibility with VISUAL STUDIO The system is made in VISUAL STUDIO 2008 that is current trend so three is no problem about the compatibility or any technical risk regarding the programming language. VISUAL STUDIO 2008 is the widely used backend tool that provides a very robust support for the application in Microsoft platform. Taking all technical risks in account we will find the programming technology, the backend service and also the hardware and software used making the project or the system feasible and reliable.

16 So the project is technically feasible and can be completed within the supposed time providing reliable service and performance. The technical issues generally raised during the investigation are discussed below The organization has a very well integrated system department with requisite technology to create the needs of the proposed system. The system is very much open by nature and can easily be expanded in the future to satisfy newly emerged needs. The usage of a reliable RDBMS like SQL Server 2005 gives guaranteed accuracy, reliability, and ease of data access and data security. The hardware needed to develop and implement the system is adequate. Just the hardware configuration is required to work with SQL Server 2005 & VISUAL STUDIO So no addition cost has been incurred. So Technical Feasibility of the project is apparent. Financial & Economical Feasibility The cost involved in designing and developing a system should be a good investment for the organization for certain system. The financial and economical issues raised are as under The cost of conducting a full systems investing is justified since the system development is in-house. No extra cost is incurred for developing the system. As required software are already used by the department. No extra cost for the modification or addition of software and hardware will require in case of future expansion of the system. So the proposed system is financially and economically feasible. Operational Feasibility

17 The system must also operational feasible. For working of the system properly in future with a bulk of data the systems are made robust. But sometimes if a developer fails to judge the operational feasibility of the system, even if the system made good sometimes makes disastrous changes in operation that may cause degradation in performance. The developer should check the operation feasibility of the system to be developed. Implementation Feasibility Implementation feasibility is also a very effecting factor while planning for a new system. The project manager will check whether the developer can make the project in time with the specified requirements and best performance. The project leader will also check that the given tools and technologies to the developer will make the system a success or not. Considering this factor also the project is feasible.

19 Software requirement specification The introduction of the Software requirements specification states the goals and objectives of the Software. Information Description Now days all the work is done by the computer, in any field we will use computers. Now we can reserved our ticket from internet, we can show movie in it, hole share market is work on computers, so by making an inquiry online it saves one trip of customer going to the shopping malls. It s a web-based application, and it is about marketing of the various day to day life products. The main purpose of inquiry management system is managing the generated inquires. the details of clients and employees is available here to admin. Through the inquires administrator here selects suitable employees for particular clients and for particular products. Administrator can then make the area wise comparisons of products. Admin then can decide in which area marketing is needed to be improved. Thus the whole project is about the generated inquires and then maintenance of all these things and in the end the integration of the admin, employees and the clients. This web application is very useful for marketing. Customers not need to be members of the site for making an inquiry. They can get information of various products. With the help of this inquiry management system company can get the information of other areas, Administrator can choose employees for selling of particular products. 40 Validation Criteria: Validation is a set of rules that apply to the data you collect. These rules can be many or few and enforced either strictly or in a lax manner. It really depends on you. Here we use different types of validation to check whether user has input valid data or not. We use different types of validation control which is given by VB studio 2005 here Required Field Validator we have readymade validation server controls like Required Field Validator to ensures that the user does not skip a form entry field Required Field Validator is here useful when we are not allowing user to null value for particular field if user can provide value for the text box than only user can work further. Compare Validator We also use Compare Validator allows for comparisons between the user s input and another item using a comparison operator(equals, greater than, less than, and so on) for example to compare user enter password and confirm password are both match each other. Range Validator Range Validator is use to checks the user s input based upon a lower and upper level range of numbers and characters for example to check length of particular field(mob no not cross 10 digit in India). Regular Expression Validator

41 Regular Expression Validator check that user s entry matches a pattern defined by a regular expression. This is a good control to use to check address and phone numbers. Custom Validator Custom Validator check s the user s entry using custom-coded validation logic. Validation Summary which is also use to displays all the error message from the validators in one specific spot on the page. We can also use validation for differentiate different employee roles one employee can t view or maintained information about other sub category or its product by allocating different user name and password. We have to also check that employee can t do administrator work like can t edit, delete or modify employee details or product, category, subcategory details. In this project we have try to cover all types validation to validate user input data valid by user and differentiate roles of employee and administrator.
