Installation and Configuration Information Interplay Capture Installation and Configuration Documentation Important Avid Interplay Capture installation and configuration information is found in the following documents, on the Avid Interplay Capture installation USB, in a folder labeled, doc. Avid Interplay Capture Installation and Administration Guide. This information may also be found online in the Avid Knowledge Base. Timecode When installing an Adrienne timcode card on an AS3000, the AS3000 image comes with the Adrienne Timecode driver and tools pre-installed. The tools are located at: C:\Installables\Drivers\Timecode\64bitOS_Files\DLLversions\ There are two ways to verify or troubleshoot that the PCIe board is reading the Timecode. First, you can use the Avid service Framework v1.5, Workgroup Properties application to verify that the PCIe board is reading the Timecode. Providing the board is installed correctly, when you open the Workgroup Properties application, the Timecode tab appears. This tab is only displayed when an Adrienne timecode card installed correctly in the computer. If there is valid LTC timecode being fed to the Adrienne card, the timecode displays on the tab. Also, when LTC is present the green LED light on the back of the PCIe card will be a solid green. Another way to verify that the PCIe board is reading the Timecode is to use the following aecntrdr_x64.exe. This tool is from the Adrienne Electronics Corporation and is pre-installed on the AS3000. It shows incoming timecode and that the PCIe board is reading it.

Note: If a custom Mini-XLR cable is required by the site information about configuring that cable is found in the PCI-TC User Guide from Adrienne Electronics Corporation. Low-Resolution Encoder Settings The Low-Resolution Encoder needs extra time to setup its video signal before starting to record. If a site is using the Low-Resolution Encoder, Avid recommends setting some VMOPTIONS to insert delays between the route>cue, and cue>record states. These VMOPTIONS are applied to all recordings, manual and scheduled, without regard to the type of channel used for them. For more information, see the Avid Interplay Capture Installation and Administration Guide. VTR Setup and Configuration for Digi Serial PCI Card Avid Interplay Capture allows you to use a VTR as a source or as a destination for recordings. When using the Digi serial PCI card in your VTR setup, make sure you follow the instructions for installing the Digi serial card. These instructions are found in the installation guide that came with the Digi serial PCI card. Note: You can have one Digi card in each Capture Server with a separate VTR service for each server. For more information, see the Avid Interplay Capture Installation and Administration Guide. Serial Port Configuration After installing the Digi Port Server, the serial ports can be configured. Open a Web page, navigate to the IP address of the server, and log in. The default login username is "root" and password is "dbps". The Web Configuration Tool opens. Use the Web Configuration Tool to configure each of the serial ports you are using as a "RealPort". To configure the serial ports: 1. Open "Serial Ports" under the configuration section of the menu. 2. Open one of the serial ports to use for VTR control. 3. Select the "RealPort" profile. 4. Click the Apply button. 5. Select the MEI Serial Settings.

6. Mark the Enable alternate pin-out for 4-wire mode Check box. 7. Click the Apply button Digi Port Server Installation When a Digi Port Server is used, instead of or in addition to the Digi PCI serial card, follow the instructions in the installation guide, which came with Digi Port Server, to configure the device with an IP address on the network. Avid recommends installing the Digi Port Server in the same IP subnet as the Interplay Capture Server so that discovery can automatically find the Port Server. The pin connections (plug) for the Digi PortServer s RJ45 8 pin connectors to route controller and VTR DB9 s are: RJ45 (8pin) DB9 (Jupiter) DB9 (Probel, Evertz-Xenon, and VTR s) 1 (RX-) (TX-) (TX-) 2 (TX+) (RX+) (RX+) 5 (RX+) (TX+) (TX+) 8 (TX-) (RX-) (RX-) Note:The pin assignments on the PortServer s RJ45 connectors are different depending on whether it is configured to run with the 10 pin configuration or the 8 pin. The default for the PortServer is to use the 10 pin variant. The RJ45 receptacles on the PortServer do accommodate both 10 and 8 pin RJ45 plugs.

New Features for Version Support for 120 Channels Starting at Capture v1.6, each Interplay Capture server can support up to 120 simultaneous encoding streams that is, one hundred and twenty channels. Changes to the Channel Tab In previous releases you used the Channel tab to define source and destination channels. Starting at Capture v1.6, the Channel tab is used for configuring Destination channels. The options for defining Source channels are moved to a new VTR-Source tab. The following illustration shows the new layout of the Channels tab. Using the VTR Source Tab and 422 Serial Router Control In previous releases, each VTR was associated with a specific 422 router connection. Now you have the option of associating a 422 connection with any available VTR source. A new tab, the VTR Source tab, allows you to define VTR source as follows: Define a VTR source that is dedicated to a specific 422 COM source. This is the way you defined VTR source for previous releases. This method uses the top area of the VTR Source tab. Define a VTR source and specify a separate 422 router source. The system will use the 422 COM source to control the video. This method uses both the top and bottom areas of the VTR Source tab. Note that this feature requires a router that supports both video routing and 422 serial routing.

The following illustration shows the new VTR Source tab in the Interplay Admin tool, Capture Settings view. To define a VTR dedicated to a specific 422 connection: 1. Click the Search button in the VTR Source Channel area. Note: To define a VTR dedicated to a specific 422 connection, click Search. To define a VTR with a separate 422 connection, click Add.

The system displays the Available Channels dialog box. 2. Select an available channel and click OK. The system displays the parameters for the channel as shown in the following illustration.

3. Select a router source from the video router source menu. The system displays the configured VTR as shown in the following illustration.

To define a video source with a separate 422 COM port: 1. Click the Add button in the VTR Source Channel area. Note: To define a VTR dedicated to a specific 422 connection, click Search. To define a VTR with a separate 422 connection, click Add. The system displays the Available VTR sources dialog box. 2. Select a router source and click OK.

The system adds the router source and automatically appends vtrsrc_ to the name as shown in the following illustration. 3. Click the Search button in the 422 Channel area. The system displays the Available Channels dialog box. 4. Select a channel and click OK.

The system displays the channel in the 422 Channel area. Capture uses the selected channel number (81 in this example) and automatically appends vtrctrl_ to the name. This indicates that the 422 router will be used to control the specified channel.

5. Select a destination from the 422 router crosspoint menu. Note: When you select the 422 router crosspoint menu, Capture checks against all channels, not just the available VTR channels.

6. To view the complete configuration, select the corresponding vtrsrc_ item under the Name section of the VTR Source Channel area near the top left of the window. The following illustration shows the complete configuration.

Comparing Configurations on the VTR Source Tab The top portion of the VTR Source tab changes depending on your selection of the VTR Source as follows: A VTR source that is dedicated to a specific 422 COM source contains a Channel Index text box and a video router source menu as shown in the following illustration. A VTR source defined with a separate 422 router source contains a 422 router crosspoint menu and does not contain a Channel index text box. The display changes depending on your selection in the VTR Source Channel area. 24 Hour Clock Format You can now select between a 12 hour clock and a 24 hour clock format. To use the 24 hour clock format: 1. In the Capture Schedule application, select Tools > Options. The Options dialog box opens. 2. Select 24 hour from the Format menu as shown in the following illustration.

3. Click Apply and click OK to close the dialog box. Capture will display time in 24 hour format in all of the areas where time is displayed. The following illustrations show time displayed in 24 hour format and 12 hour format.

Notice that the 12 hour format uses AM and PM to differentiate between time of day. Monitor Panels in the Capture Schedule Interface Starting at Capture v1.6, you can view the monitor panels in the Capture Schedule interface. Previously these panels were only available in the Capture Monitor and Avid Route Monitor applications. Note: Displaying the monitor panels within the Capture Schedule interface allows you to perform monitoring without using an additional Capture license. The Capture Monitor and Avid Route applications each use a license while they are running. To display monitor panels: 1. Select View > Channel Monitoring, 2. Select View > Router Monitoring. Capture displays the monitoring panels. You can rearrange the panels within the user interface. The following illustration shows an example configuration with the two monitor panels placed on the left.

Note: For more detailed monitoring, the separate monitor applications provide a larger user interface and additional information. Changing a Source During a Recording You can now change the source during a recording. To change the source during a recording: 1. Click the menu next to the source name in the Sources area. The system displays a menu of available sources. 2. Select the source you want to use and click OK.

Capture displays the new source in the Sources area as shown in the following illustration. Note: Be careful to select a new source that uses the same recording format. Capture records the event in the Event log as shown in the following illustration. Documentation Changes The Interplay Capture User s Guide contains an error on page 41. The following paragraph describing the Interplay panel shows the error underlined: The Interplay panel allows you, in Interplay, to choose any folder in the Projects folder in which to save the clip when the recording is complete. You can do this by dragging the folder from the Interplay panel to the Folder field in the Schedule Item Detail panel or you can select the folder in the Interplay panel or press the Alt+Return keys on the keyboard.

The phrase or press should be replaced with the phrase and press. New Features for Version LTC Inputs on AirSpeed 5000 You can configure the AirSpeed MultiStream Device Service so that Capture can use these inputs. Note: This feature is implemented in the device service and requires version or later of the device service. To use channel specific LTC inputs on AirSpeed 5000: 4. Open the Avid Service Framework, Service Configuration application. 5. Select the Airspeed MultiStream Device Service. 6. On the Device Settings tab, in the AirSpeed 5000 section, do one of the following: Select Per-channel LTC inputs to provide each ingest channel its own LTC input. Select The House timecode input as Configured on the AirSpeed 5000 to use the input for the Time of Day Source option, in the Server settings section on the AirSpeed 5000 Management Console, as shown in the following illustration.

Multiple ISIS System Support Capture version 1.5 supports the multiple ISIS system feature in Interplay version 2.6. In Interplay Capture Settings, the workspace selection for regular channel pools was changed to look and behave in a similar way to the workspace selection for pools with channel teams. To specify a Default ISIS Server for a channel Pool: 1. Open the Avid Interplay Administrator application. 2. Navigate to Interplay Server > Capture Settings > Capture Settings. 3. Click the Channel Pools tab. 4. On the left side of the tab, click to select a Channel Pool. 5. On the Right side of the tab, click the Shared Storage column heading to display a list of available ISIS Servers from which to select a default server. 6. Click to select the default server for this Channel Pool. Recording Groups Recordings on the timeline can be grouped by their channel pool group assignment.

To assign a recording to a channel pool group: 1. In Interplay Capture, select the recording in the Schedule section. 2. Click the No grouping Down-arrow, to display the Group recording by channel pools option. 3. Select the Group recording by channel pools option. The Grouping dockable tab displays, as shown in the following illustration. 4. In the Select column, mark the Check box or boxes corresponding to the Channel pool group or groups to which the recording will be assigned. If the check box next to a channel pool is checked, then the recording appears as in a channel pool group on the timeline. This way, a user can choose to view only recordings in channel pools in which they are interested. The Show all Check box, when marked, is a short-cut for selecting all channel pools. The arrows on the side of the panel allow the display order of the groups to be changed. The size of the Groups can be adjusted from the timeline by dragging the dividers between the groups, as shown in the following illustration. Segmenting of VTR Recordings at Timecode Breaks Interplay Capture has a new workflow option that when selected, if timecode discontinuity is detected, Capture automatically creates a new clip.

To set the Auto segment on timecode breaks workflow: 1. Start a VTR recording and go to the General tab in the VTR Session panel. 2. Click the Workflow down arrow to display a list of VTR Workflow options. 3. Select the Auto Segment on time Code Breaks option. When this option is selected, the controls in the VTR Control appear as shown in the following illustration.

The amount of tape to ingest is determined by one of two options. 4. Do one of the following: Select the Duration option to make Capture start at the current tape position and ingest the amount of tape as specified in the duration field. Capture uses the control track time code (sometimes referred to as TIMER-1) to monitor the ingest. Select the Control track from option to allow the user to select specific mark-in and mark-out points on the control track at which to set the start and end locations on the tape Note: The mark-in and mark-out buttons on the upper VTR controls are used to set these values. A timecode shown in italics indicates that the value is not set. The in or out point can be left unset. In that case, the current value is used. For instance, the mark-in can be set, and the tape forwarded to the desired out point. If the recording is started like this, the end point is set to the current location, even if the mark-out wasn t explicitly set. While the ingest is in progress, pressing the Stop after current segment button causes the recording to finish when the next timecode break is detected. This button can also be unselected and doing so does not extend the recording past the selected mark-out or duration. New Features for Version Channel Pool Permissions Capture Administrators may grant users permission to manage recordings on a per-channel pool basis. A user can be given rights to use all channel pools, or can be given rights to only specified channel pools. In the Scheduler application, recordings on the timeline are filtered to show only those recordings using the channel pools a user has rights to use. The list of available channel pools in the schedule item detail is also filtered. To set a user's channel permissions: 1. Open the Avid Interplay Administrator.

2. Navigate to the Capture Users section. 3. Select a user from the tree. 4. Mark the appropriate permission Check boxes for the selected user. Channel and Channel Pool Administration In previous versions, router destinations were verified at the time they were set to ensure channels did not share destinations.. Since it is valid to have channels in a team that share router destinations, a modified version of this check is performed when changes are applied. The dialog used for adding channels to a channel pool has been modified. The check boxes in the Selected column is used for selecting the channels to be added to the channel pool. For existing channel pools, the list of channels is filtered to show only channels of the same type. If the channel pool is new, all channels are shown, but when the first channel is checked, all channels not of the same type are disabled, preventing them from being checked.

Channel Teams A channel team is a set of channels that are treated as a group, or team. Typically, all members of a team are fed from the same video signal or router destination, though this is not required. All members of a channel team are allocated together. If a member of a team encounters a failure, a new team is allocated, if possible, to continue the recording. The channels comprising a channel team are added and configured in the same way as regular channels, using the Interplay Administration application. Select the Capture Settings plug-in and click the Channel tab. The channels are added to the Capture system by selecting them in the Available Channels dialog box. After the channels have been added to the Capture system, a channel team is created using the Channel Teams tab.

Now that you have a channel team, channels can be added to the team by clicking the Add button. This opens the Add Channels to Team dialog box, from which you can select channels. Note: The channel team member s device types and order must be the same for all teams that are in the same channel pool. The Up and Down buttons on the Channel Teams tab allow channels to be reordered within the team.

After the channel teams have been configured, they are added to a channel pool in the same way that a channel would be added. All channel teams within a pool must have the types of channels in the same order. The dialog for adding channels or channel teams has a filter that only allows compatible channel teams to be added to a pool. The timecode and allocation options for channel teams are set in the same way they would be with a normal channel pool. The default shared storage workspaces are set for each position within the channel team. When creating a recording, the workspace for each channel position can be changed by clicking on the workspace cell in the channel table.

Customizable Duration Buttons The length for the three duration buttons can now be customized. This is a per-user option, and is set in the Scheduler application. The option can be found on the Item Detail section in the Options dialog box. Both the duration and the label are customizable. Default Recording Name An option was added that allows users to set the default recording name. This is a per-user option, which is set in the Scheduler application. The option is found on the Schedule Item Detail section in the Options dialog box. After setting and saving the default recording name, that name is used as the default name for all new feed and VTR recordings.

Enhanced support for video E-to-E mode for AirSpeed Multi Stream Ingest channels on an AirSpeed Multi Stream can now be configured to stay in record mode at the conclusion of a recording. This allows for workflows that require video E-to-E functionality of AirSpeed MultiStream channels while they are not actively recording. This setting is for the AirSpeed MultiStream Device Service, and is configured using the Avid Service Framework, Service Configuration application. To configure E-to-E support for the AirSpeed Multi Stream Device Service: 1. Open the Avid Service Framework, Service Configuration application. 2. On the Host tab, select the AirSpeed Multi Stream Device Service. 3. On the Device Settings tab, in the Record Mode section, mark the Check boxes to select the desired channels.

4. Click the Apply button. Note: This is a feature of the AirSpeed Multi Stream Device Service. To enable this functionality, the device service needs to be upgraded to version or later. New Features for Version Separate Workspace for AMS Proxy Clips In previous versions of Interplay Capture you could not configure a separate workspace for AirSpeed Multi Stream proxy clips. This is changed. Now, when the channel pool being configured contains AirSpeed Multi Stream channels, the user can have the option to configure a separate workspace for the proxy clips. Users still have the option of using the same workspace for both the hi-res and proxy clips. Note: Workspace settings saved for existing recordings, favorites, and templates won't be updated to reflect changes to the default workspaces for the channel pool. This option is enabled using the Avid Interplay Administrator application in the Capture Settings section. To enable a separate workspace for AirSpeed Multi Stream proxy clips: 1. Open the Avid Interplay Administrator application. 2. Navigate to the Capture Settings section. 3. On the Channel Pools tab select the channel pool for which to create a separate workspace.

4. In the AirSpeed Multi Stream Proxy Workspaces section, mark the Enable Separate workspaces for proxy clips Check box. 5. In the same section, do the following: Select a default workspace from the Default Workspace list. Select a default mirror workspace from the Default Mirror Workspace list 6. Click the Apply button. With this option enabled, in the Interplay Capture UI, when creating a recording, the workspace used for the recording can be changed. To change the workspace used for a recording: 1. In the Interplay Capture UI, navigate to the channel pools. 2. Click in the cell belonging to the workspace column for the channel pool currently being used, a dialog box appears from which to select the hi-res and proxy clip workspaces. Note: When the option is enabled in the Capture Settings section of the Interplay Administrator application, the Primary section of the dialog box is used for the hi-res workspace.

3. Select the workspace for the hi-res and proxy clip workspaces. Note: When this option is not enabled in the Capture Settings section of the Interplay Administrator application, when you click in the cell belonging to the workspace column for the channel pool currently being used, a slightly different dialog box appears from which to select a workspace. New Features for Version 1.3 Timecode for VTR Recordings

Timecode Custom Label In the Interplay Administrator application for the Capture Settings Plug-in, a user customizable label for the timecode selection is now provided. Frame Accuracy for VTR Batch Recordings A new option was added that applies the in and out timecodes from the batch recording table to the Capture master clips. To enable this option, you must make a modification to the channel configuration. The modification is made using Capture Settings Plug-in for the Interplay Administrator. To enable this option: 1. In Interplay Administrator, open the Capture Settings Plug-in. 2. Select the source VTR channel. 3. Check the "From tape" Check box located next to the correct timecode source you are using. Note: When using this Option, the timecode being received by the destination device must match the timecode used in the Capture UI to set up the recordings. If the destination device does not have the correct timecode, the result is media offline. New Features for Version 1.2 This section provides information on any previously undocumented enhancements or new features added to this release. VTR Recording Avid Interplay Capture can now be used to ingest media from a video tape in a VTR. There are two different workflow types used for VTR Recordings, Quick and Batch recordings. The workflow for both of these recordings begins with the same first step, selecting the VTR source from the VTR sources panel. For Batch recordings you can import and use a log file in either a.csv or.ale file format containing the times for the clips. For more information about using the VTR recording feature, see the most current version of the Avid Interplay Capture User s Guide. New Features for version 1.1 This section provides information on any previously undocumented enhancements or new features added to this release. Interplay Notifications In addition to the Clip Manager service polling, the Clip Manager service now receives notifications from the Interplay Engine. These notifications enable Capture to recognize when a new device clip is created in Interplay so that Capture can create the master clip for it faster. For more information, see the Avid Interplay Capture Installation and Administration Guide. Note: Notifications can only be installed on Interplay v 2.2 or later. Route Confidence Monitoring Interplay Capture contains a new feature that allows users to route video sources to dedicated monitors through the Interplay Capture User Interface. The monitors are configured in the Avid Route Engine service using the Avid Service Configuration application. For more information, see the Avid Interplay Capture Installation and Administration Guide.

Languages The installers for localized Interplay Capture clients are available on the Interplay Capture installation DVD. The localized clients are available in the following languages: Spanish Spanish Latin Italian German French French Canadian Japanese Chinese Simplified Hardware and Software Changes Software Changes for v1.3.2 Changing Workspace during Recording Caused Error In previous versions of Interplay Capture, during the creation of or editing of a recording, when a workspace was changed, an exception error was caused when the recording started. This error caused other recordings that were scheduled to start at the same time, not to start and caused the channel allocator to lose track of allocated channels. This is fixed. Interplay Administrator Capture Settings Plug-in Change In previous versions of the Avid Interplay Administrator the Capture Settings plug-in tab included an Add button on the Channels tab. This button has been removed. Now there is a Remove button and a Search button only. Software Changes for v1.3.1 Minimum Duration for VTR Recordings VTR quick recordings, and clip in VTR batch recordings, now have a minimum duration of 10 seconds. User requests to manually stop a recording will be delayed until the clip has reached the minimum duration. Channel Pool Changes In previous versions of Interplay Capture, in rare situations, when removing channels from a channel pool, active recordings would lose their channels and start the channel failover process. This resulted in the loss of media in the recording s master clip. This is fixed. Master Clip Creation Date In previous versions of Interplay Capture, each time Capture updated the master clip, the Creation Date property in Interplay was changed to the time of the update. This is fixed. The creation date is no longer modified.

Software Changes for v1.3 AirSpeed Multi Stream Device Clip Locations In previous versions of Interplay Capture, when using AirSpeed Multi Stream v1.7 or 1.8, if the default template specified a location for the Low-res device clips, then the proxy clip was not put in the correct location. This is fixed. Clip Manager In previous versions of Interplay Capture, with Interplay notifications enabled, actions on device clips in other applications (such as clicking on a device clip in Access) could cause the master clip creation date and modified date to change. This is fixed. Now, after the device clip has finished being transferred, the master clip creation date and modified date no longer changes. VTR VTR Channel in Use In previous versions of Interplay Capture, if an unexpected exception occurred, the VTR exits the workflow without marking the recording done or stopping devices. This left the VTR in a state that looked like it was in use. This is fixed. Quick Recording Duration Inaccurate In previous versions of Interplay Capture, the duration of a quick recording was not close enough to the actual duration of the master clip thus the recording ended early. This is fixed. The timing on quick records has been adjusted so that it no longer terminates the recording significantly early. Batch Record File Format Too Strict In previous versions of Interplay Capture, Capture could not use.csv files that contained quotes or extra spaces in them. This is changed. Now, files may contain quotes or extra spaces. Master Clip End Times In previous versions of Interplay Capture, when recording from a VTR device, the master clip may have ended before the end time of the device clip by approximately two seconds. This is fixed. Software Changes for v1.2.2 New VMOPTIONS Setting for Low-Resolution Encoder The following new VMOPTIONS setting was added for configuration of low-resolution encoders. com.avid.automation.ingest.recordcontrol.controller.time.timeconstants. VTR_PREROLL=2500 The VMOPTIONS are stored in a file in the following location: c:\program Files (x86)\avid\interplay capture\service\scheduler\state\config\workgroup.properties The VTRPreroll parameter adjusts how long Capture pre-rolls a VTR prior to batch or quick recordings. This value is the amount of time the VTR rewinds, not the amount of time on the tape that is pre-rolled. The 2500 setting puts the VTR into rewind for 2.5 seconds and results in the tape backing up 5-6 seconds (depending on the VTR deck). Low-resolution encoders take longer than AirSpeed Multi Stream or AirSpeed to lock to the video signal, so pre-rolling and playing back stable video for a longer period is necessary only for sites that use low-resolution encoder's.

Software Changes for v1.2.1 VTR Recordings Show MEDIA OFFLINE In previous versions of Capture, recording from a VTR device occasionally set the timecode of the master clip to extend beyond the end time of the device clip. This resulted in MEDIA OFFLINE. This is fixed. Now, when recording from a VTR device the timecode of the master clip no longer extends beyond the end time of the device clip creating MEDIA OFFLINE. Software Changes for v1.2 Removing Tabs from Panels In previous versions of Capture, users were not able to pull tabs out of panels in a tabbed workspace. This is fixed. Now, in a tabbed workspace environment in Capture, users can move tabs out of panels. Erroneous Warning Message and Event Log Fixed In previous versions of Capture, a warning log message and event log was created for any recording using AirSpeed Multi Stream. The warning indicated that Capture had timed out while waiting for the device to cue. This did not actually happen; the message was erroneous. This is fixed in v1.2 and the user no longer receives this message. Media Offline When Recording starts at Midnight In previous versions of Capture, recordings that started at midnight showed up as MEDIA OFFLINE in editors. Recordings starting before midnight and either ending at or after midnight were playable, and for recordings that extended beyond midnight, timecode rolled over to zero for the new hour. The MEDIA OFFLINE symptom happens for recordings with a master clip start time of exactly 00:00:00:00. This is fixed. Now, for recordings that start at midnight, Capture starts and sets the start time 1 second before midnight. This happens after the recording starts. Scheduled recordings still appear scheduled at midnight, but after they start, the start time becomes 11:59:59. This way, midnight recordings are playable from the editor. Software Changes for v1.1 Clips Tab In previous versions of Interplay Capture, the Clips tab for a recording that survived an Interplay Capture service failure and recovery (or failover) did not populate until the recording had finished. This has been fixed in v1.1. Start Time Field Not Visible In Previous versions of Interplay Capture, when a recording was manually stopped, the start time field in Schedule Item detail panel would disappear from the panel. This has been fixed in 1.1. In-use Channel Information Changes In previous versions of Interplay Capture, the Interplay Administration application allowed users to change channel information while the channel was in-use. This is changed in v1.1. Now, on a channel in-use, a user may no longer change channel information that is related to the physical channel's name or location. Maximum Clip Duration In previous versions of Interplay Capture, the maximum clip duration (MCD) caused a gap in media to occur in the next segment, instead of at the segment break. This is fixed in v1.1. Now, the gap starts at the beginning and extends until the channel starts recording.

Failover In previous versions of Interplay Capture, there was an extra load placed on the Lookup service during a failover. This is improved in v1.1. Interplay Capture remains in a private workgroup but the load on the Lookup service is reduced for better workgroup performance. Health Status In previous versions of Interplay Capture, changing schedule health to zero in the Interplay Administration application while there were recordings with elevated health status, the status would not clear from the Avid Service Framework, Health Monitor application. This has been fixed in v1.1. Now, when changing the schedule health to zero hours, only active recordings reflect health status in the schedule health category for the Interplay Capture service in the Avid Service Framework, Health Monitor application. Moving Recordings - Save Prompt In previous versions of Interplay Capture, dragging and dropping multiple recordings resulted in a save prompt. The prompt should ask if you're sure you want to move the recordings and it should also prompt you if you want to start the recording. This is fixed in v1.1. Now, when moving multiple recordings to the "now" time, you always get prompted by "do you want to start now?" followed by the "do you want to save this recording?" prompts. Panels In previous versions of Interplay Capture, unpinning a window on a secondary monitor sometimes caused the panel to disappear. The only way to recover it was to reset the user's preferences from tools>options. This has been fixed in 1.1. Time Synchronization Service Fall DST In previous versions of Interplay Capture, the Time Synchronization service changed the daylight savings time (DST) offset an hour too early for fall DST. This was addressed in Avid Service Framework v1.4, which is a dependency for Interplay Capture 1.1. Apply Button for VTR Device Service In previous versions of Interplay Capture, the Apply button for the VTR Device service did not work. This is fixed in v1.1. AirSpeed Recording Recovery In previous versions of Interplay Capture, intermittently, AirSpeed recovery of a recording did not work. Often, for any recording using AirSpeed classic channels in Capture 1.0, the recovery would fail and a new channel would be assigned to the recording. For Interplay Capture v1.1, the recovery of AirSpeed classic channels is improved. Automated Routing In previous versions of Interplay Capture, changing the automated routing setting in the Interplay Administration application didn't always save in Interplay Capture after a restart. This was fixed in Interplay Capture v1.1. Unicode Characters In previous versions of Interplay Capture, Unicode characters in the recording name did not work. Now, Capture supports Unicode characters to be used in the name of a recording. Event Log In previous versions of Interplay Capture, the Capture service log files were closed out each time the user requested an update for the event log - this could have lead to a loss of data. This is fixed. To protect against data loss, the new log level changes for the Clip Manager service and the Interplay Capture service are as follows:

total number of log files = 8000 total number of days = 14 total number of bytes = (2GB) Software Changes for v1.0.5 Ancillary Data Track for Ingested Clips Interplay Capture v1.0.5 now provides support for an Ancillary Data Track for ingested clips. The ancillary data track can be used to embed data, such as timecode or closed captioning, in video signals. The following environment is required when using the ancillary data workflow: Interplay Capture v1.0.5 (ingest ancillary data) Interplay v2.2 (manage clips with ancillary data track) AirSpeed Multi Stream v 1.5 (ingest Ancillary data) NewsCutter v 9.0 or Media Composer v5.0 or later (edit clips with Ancillary data) For more information, see the Avid Interplay Capture Installation and Administration Guide. Software Changes for v1.0.4 Starting Scheduled Recordings In previous versions of Interplay Capture, sometimes following a failover, recordings would not end with the correct finished transport state, (done or error), instead, recordings would remain in a recording or stopping state. This has been fixed. Updated Clips in Interplay The Interplay Capture Clip Manager service polls Interplay every 30 seconds searching for updated clips. In previous versions of Interplay Capture, clips close to the edge of the search range were not always returned. Interplay Capture mitigated this by adjusting the padding. Media Loss in Manually Stopped Recordings In previous versions of Interplay Capture, sites using AirSpeed Multi Stream (AMS) and ingesting in the 720p XDCAM format were experiencing a loss of media when those recordings were manually stopped before the scheduled end time. This is fixed with AMS v1.4. Software Changes for v1.0.3 Missing Master clips In previous versions, the Clip Manager Service failed to create master clips for device clips that come in with a frame rate of "50.00". The AirSpeed Multi Stream 720p50 using the XDCAM codecs exposed the problem. This is fixed. Improved Failovers In previous versions of Avid Interplay Capture, sometimes failover did not complete the recovery process, which could lead to many different symptoms seen. Symptoms included multiple Capture services reporting as primary, phantom services not doing any work after failover, scheduled recordings not starting

after failover, manual recordings not starting after failover, database not saving to Interplay after failover. Avid Interplay Capture v1.0.3 includes a new version of Avid Service Framework and internal improvements in the Avid Interplay Capture service that fixes these issues. AirSpeed Failovers In previous versions of Avid Interplay Capture, recordings using AirSpeed channels often failed over channels because the Avid Interplay Capture service recovered before the AirSpeed device service. AirSpeed channels take longer to recover after a full server failover because the device service often runs on the same server as the Capture services. In version 1.0.3, the Avid Interplay Capture service waits longer for AirSpeed channels to recover before trying to failover to a different healthy channel. Recording Metadata In previous versions, recordings that started before the users schedule view did not show the metadata (recording name, start/end times, and routing information). This is fixed. Now, the recording metadata stays in the view and if the recording extends before or after the view, an arrow is put on the recording indicating it extends beyond the view. Recording Title on the Timeline In previous versions, on the timeline, the recording title overlapped the icons that displayed the transport, health, and alert status. This made it hard to read the recording's title. This is fixed. The recording's title is easily visible. Timeline Colors for Selected Recordings In previous versions, when recordings were selected in the timeline, the background and text colors of those recordings were hard to identify. This is fixed. Now, selected recordings become partially transparent with a thicker black border while the text color stays the default text color. Recordings Redrawn During Timeline Navigation In previous versions, recordings were redrawn on the timeline every time the user navigates left or right (in the horizontal view) or up or down (in the vertical view). This is fixed. Now, recordings no longer move while the user is navigating the timeline. Mouse Sensitivity In previous versions, a slight movements of the mouse caused recordings to snap to the tick marks in the timeline. This is fixed. Now, when the mouse moves half of the distance of a time interval the recordings move and snap the major tick marks, defined by vertical or horizontal lines in the timeline. Users can get recordings to move to smaller points in the timeline by holding down the CTRL key while dragging. Moving Recordings Displays a Warning In previous versions, no warning was presented to the user when they attempted to move a recording in the timeline. This could have resulted in moving recordings accidentally. This is fixed. Now, when a user moves a recording in the timeline, a warning dialog box displays asking the user to confirm the action. There is also a user preference setting ant the dialog box can be disabled if desired. Moving Recordings Seemed to Cause Layout Changes In previous versions, while moving a recording by dragging the schedule grid, the recording didn't stay in the same row or column in which it started moving. This also caused all the other recordings to move. This is fixed. Now, recordings move in the same rows or columns they were in and all of the other recordings maintain their original layouts during the move, when the user releases the recording to move it. Recordings redraw and move around more efficiently on the screen.

Timeline Scrolling When Dragging a Recording In previous versions, when dragging a recording on the horizontal timeline to another location the timeline did not scroll past the visible area of the screen. This is fixed. Now, dragging a recording to the edge of the timeline makes the timeline scroll so that you can continue to drag the recording past the visible area of the screen to the desired new location on the timeline. Timeline Moved Backwards In previous versions, clicking on recordings that started at midnight caused the timeline to jump backwards 24 hours. This is fixed. Now, clicking on a recording that starts at exactly midnight no longer causes capture to move the timeline backwards. Software Changes for v1.0.2 Clip Manager Service Settings The Avid Service Configuration application is used to configure the Clip Manager service catch-up polling. Warning: This setting must not be changed except under direct supervision of Avid support. These settings are only to be used in an emergency if master clips, for a period of time in the recent past, were not created. For more information, see the Avid Interplay Capture Installation and Administration Guide. Software Changes for v1.0.1 Client Memory Leak In version 1.0 of Interplay Capture there was a memory leak in the client. This meant that every time a recording was opened, it was stored into memory and never released. In version this is fixed. MEDIA OFFLINE Condition Reported in Editor In version 1.0 of Interplay Capture dragging and dropping a recording so that it is on the yellow line (which represents the current time) caused a recording to start immediately. Interplay Capture v1.0 treated these like scheduled recordings. This resulted in the recording's clips to start with a MEDIA OFFLINE condition reported to the editor. This is fixed. In Interplay Capture v1.0.1 recordings that are dragged to the yellow line are now treated as manual recordings, and the manual recording start time offset value is applied to them, which prevents the MEDIA OFFLINE condition from being reported. Pause between Route and Cue Commands of a Recording In version 1.0 of Interplay Capture there was no pause between the Route and Cue commands of a recording. If a pause between Route and Cue commands is necessary, contact Avid and a new custom parameter can be applied by Avid staff. Pause between Cue and Record Commands of a Recording In version 1.0 of Interplay Capture there was no pause between the Cue and Record commands of a recording. If a pause between Cue and Record commands is necessary, contact Avid and a new custom parameter can be applied by Avid staff.

Known Limitations This section provides information on known limitations that were not addressed in this release. Any available workaround procedures are also documented, when possible. Note: For limitations related to compatibility of this release with previous versions/other products, see the section of this document entitled, Compatibility Notes. Display Area Problem for Switching Source During a Recording When switching a source while recording, the logging in the Schedule Item Detail panel is not correct. The Source column does not change to display the new source. The following illustration shows the problem. The recording switched to Camera 1 but the logging does not reflect the change. Workaround: You can use the Router Control monitor to view source changes during a recording. Changing a Source VTR to a Destination VTR Source VTR channels appear in the VTR sources panel of the Scheduler UI. Destination channels should not appear in this panel. However, if you change a Source VTR channel into a Destination VTR, the channel continues to appear as a source VTR channel in the Sources panel of the Schedule UI. The only way to remove it from the VTR sources panel is to remove the channel from Capture completely. This is done using the Interplay Administration Capture plug-in. After the channel is removed you can then add it as a new destination VTR. Segmentation Results in Spurious Device Clips Maximum Clip Duration (MCD) with AirSpeed Multi Stream causes a recording in progress to autosegment 15 seconds before the MCD value. If there is no channel available with which to segment, the channel is forced to stop recording and a new channel (possibly the same channel) continues the recording. This results in a master clip with some media offline. Intermittently, the channel that starts immediately stops and a new channel is started. This results in a moment of offline media, a few seconds of online media, then offline media again, followed by the rest of the recording.
