3 1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION PX227 is designed to process the DMX-512 signal to the analog control 0-10 V. The unit is manufactured in a casing for installation in electrical switchgear on DIN rail T35. In addition to simple decoding PX227 DMX allows you to select the characteristics of control and to program how it reacts to loss of DMX signal. 2. SAFETY CONDITIONS DMX Demux 8 PX227 is powered with safe voltage 12-24V; however, during its installation and use the following rules must be strictly observed: 1. Installation of equipment, in particular, power connection should be made by a licensed person, in accordance with this manual. 2. The device may only be connected to 12-24V DC current (stabilized voltage) with currentcarrying capacity compatible with technical data. 3. All the conductors should be protected against mechanical and thermal damage. 4. In the event of any conductor damaging, it should be replaced with the one of the same technical specification. 5. Connection of DMX signal should be made with shielded conductor. 6. All repairs and connections of outputs or DMX signal can only be made with power off. 7. PX227 should be strictly protected against contact with water and other liquids. 8. All sudden shocks - particularly dropping - should be avoided. 9. The device cannot be turned on in places with humidity exceeding 90%. 10. The device cannot be used in places with temperature lower than +2 C or higher than +40 C. 11. For cleaning use only a damp cloth. 3. DMX SIGNAL CONNECTION PX227 have to be connected to the DMX line in series. This means that control cable should be connected to the DMX IN terminal, and then from the DMX OUT connector the control cable should go to the other DMX receivers. If the PX227 is the last device in the DMX line, to the terminals "DMX +"and "DMX -" (between pin 22 and 23) the terminator Ohm resistor have to be connected. 120 Ohm 3

5 5. PROGRAMMING THE DEVICE After switching on the display it shows the version of the program. During normal work of the demultiplexer on the display is just one dot visible. To go to the main menu, press, the display will appear. Press the PREVIOUS or to select the menu for programming ( ) and press to confirm NAVIGATING THE MENU escape next previous 5.2. 7 5.3. PROGRAMMING GROUP PARAMETERS (MENU ALL) Programming in this menu is common to all channels. When you select ALL in the main menu to confirm the selection you need to press, then or PREVIOUS buttons to select the parameters that you want to set: - DMX address of the device, - characteristics of dimming channels - response of the unit on loss of DMX signal, The next step is to approve the selection by pressing. Programmed in this way address or characteristics deletes the earlier individual channel settings DMX Address After selecting in the menu you need to confirm the selection by pressing. Use or PREVIOUS buttons to set the desired DMX address from range of 1 to 505 and press. The set address is assigned to the first channel, the channels will be assigned the next consecutive DMX addresses. When setting the address No. 1 channel would have an No. 8 Select another parameter to the setting or press ESCAPE to return to the main menu Characteristics After selecting in the menu to confirm the selection press. Use or PREVIOUS buttons to select the desired characteristics and then press. You can choose from: - Characteristics of a linear V, - Characteristics of the linear first.. 10 V - Characterization of switchable (on / off). 8 5.4. INDIVIDUAL PARAMETER PROGRAMMING (MENU Ind) In this menu you can set the parameters individually for each of the 8 channels. After selecting in the main menu, press to confirm. 1. Use PREVIOUS or buttons to select the channel you want to set (... ) and press. 2. On the display will show up. Press to set the address of the channel being edited. Use PREVIOUS or buttons to select a value from 1 to 512 and press to confirm. 3. Press. On the display will show up. Press to set the dimming characteristics of the channel being edited. Use PREVIOUS or buttons to select the appropriate characteristics, and press. - Linear characteristics of V, - Linear characteristics of V - Switchable characteristics (on / off). 4. Press ESCAPE to return to the menu and set the remaining channels following the procedures from the points 1,2,3. 5. Press ESCAPE to return to the main menu SCENES AND PROGRAMS PROGRAMMING (MENU def) In this menu you can configure the programs and scenes that can later be reproduced in case of lack of DMX signal (see Section ). After selecting in main menu, press to confirm. Then the PREVIOUS or buttons, select one of the programs ( ) or one of the scenes ( ) and press. The programs can be set: - Brightness of each channel for each step, - Duration of the steps - smooth transitions between steps and, if needed, you can limit the number of steps (maximum is 10). In scenes you can set brightness for each channel. All scenes and programs are set to default, but they can be customized for customers' needs according to the procedure of the points and

9 Scenes 1. In the menu, select the scene you want to program and press. The display will show - the first channel. Press to start editing this channel. 2. Press the PREVIOUS or to select the value (in percentage) of programmed channel and confirm by pressing 3. Press the PREVIOUS or to select other channels to edit and repeat the procedure with the second point. 4. Press ESCAPE to return to the menu and repeat the procedure from the points 1, 2 and 3 for the remaining scenes. 5. Press ESCAPE to return to the main menu Programs 1. In the menu press the PREVIOUS or button to select the program you want to edit and press. 2. The display will show - this is the first step of the program. Press to edit this step or the button, go to the next step and press. 3. The display will show - the first channel. Press to edit that channel or use the button to move to the next channel, then press. Set the value of the channel using PREVIOUS or keys and confirm by pressing. 4. Set the value of the other channels according to the procedure in 3rd point. 5. By pressing select and then press to set the duration of the editing step. Use PREVIOUS or buttons to select a value from 0.1 seconds ( ) to 25 seconds ( ) and confirm by pressing. 6. Press. On the display will appear. Press to set up a smooth transition to the next step. PREVIOUS or buttons to select a value from 0 to 100 (0 - step change, change completely smooth) and confirm by pressing. 7. Press. The display will show. If you want to edit the last step in the program, then press, and then the PREVIOUS or buttons, select and press. To set a program with a maximum length set to during edition of step No. 10 (F10). 8. Press ESCAPE to exit the option of editing step. 9. Set the remaining steps according to the procedure from points 2nd to 8th. 10. Press ESCAPE to exit the editing program. 11. button, select the second program to edit and repeat the procedure from 2nd to 10th point or press ESCAPE to return to the main menu. 9

10 6. MOUNTING The PX227 device is produced with casing adapted to the mounting onto the T35 rail as it provides a stable location and convenient access to the device. Installation on mounting rail: 1. Apply the PX227 obliquely to the DIN rail and with two hooks on the back part of the device catch the upper part of the mounting rail. 2. Pull the latch down using a screwdriver or similar tool that allows to pull it down. 3. Attach the device to the DIN rail, still holding a screwdriver in the latch. 4. Release the latch.a
