How to navigate around the course Once your have logged into the platform, you will see the home page of the course.

2 To go into a unit of the course, click on the unit. You will see the first page of the unit and the navigation column on the left.

3 In the navigation column you will see the 16 sections of the unit. Click on the section name of the section you want to enter e.g. Reading

4 The reading section will open and you will see that each exercise is on a different page. To change from one exercise to another, you need to click on the numbers you see at the top of each page. Once you have finished the unit, you can continue with the next unit by clicking on the home link. To finish a session, click on log out.

5 If you have support documents, you will see a section called "My documents": 3. How to view your progress On the homepage you can view your progress in graphic representation. For more detailed information including tutorial marks and tests click on Breakdown of these scores. You can see your test and tutorial marks:

6 4. Internal mail To contact your tutor, you need to click on the mail link. This will open up your mail. When you have new mail, the number of messages appears next to your tutor s name on the left. Your unread messages are in blue. Click on the message subject to read it. Once you have opened and read a message it changes to white. To reply to a message from your tutor, click on the arrow on the right of the message.

7 This will open a window in which you can write the subject of your mail and write your message. You can also attach 1 or 2 documents. This means that you can send your tutorials as attachments in Word documents if you like. To attach a document, click on browse and find the document you want to attach. To send it, click on send. Or to send a new message to your tutor, click on the pencil icon and write your message.

8 5. Other tools and resources To see what resources are available in your course, click on My Resources: The following tools and resources are available. (See more details below.)

9 Text to Speech The Text to Speech tool allows you to listen to any text you write into the text box. Text to speech / Translate into any language You can select any text on the page and listen to it or translate it into any language: Record yourself On each page of the course you have access to the "Record yourself" tool, which allows you to record yourself and save these files. This tool is designed to help you to improve your pronunciation. You can listen to yourself and compare your recording to the original. Dictionary The dictionary is an online dictionary which allows you to translate words from English to other languages on the list. Grammar reference The Grammar reference opens up a level-specific Grammar Reference which you can use at any time.

11 In "Additional Resources" you can find links to useful listening and video material as well as online reading material suitable for language learners. Interactive English Interactive English is a monthly Net Languages publication available at three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Each issue contains an interesting news text, vocabulary and language exercises, and discussion tasks. You can listen to native speakers talking about the topic (also available as a podcast), and you can access previous issues. Interactive English is mobile friendly and available as an app for Android and IOS smartphones.

12 Forums The forums can be accessed by the links in Extras or the Forum and Netsearch sections of the General English course. Click on the corresponding level to enter in the level specific forums. If you are posting a task for a specific unit, click on the unit number e.g. unit 7. If not, click on General. Here you can see different messages and tasks posted by different students studying the same level. If you click on a message, you can read it and reply to it if you like. To post a new message, click on NEWTOPIC.

13 In the section Username, write your name, in Subject, write the topic of your message, in Confirmation code, write what you can see in the picture (this is to prevent Spam from entering the forums). Write your message in the large window and when you have finished, click on Submit to post it. Pronunciation The "Pronunciation" link opens up the phonemic chart. You can click on each phoneme to hear the sound of the phoneme in isolation as well as in a word.
