1 Syllabus Registration 1. Open the syllabus registration page From the top page of the Entry System of Syllabi and Academic Records, open the Syllabus Registration page ( シラバス登録 ). 7. Syllabus Registration Click Syllabus Registration 1

5 4. Basic information It is not necessary to fill out the following information except Open To Other Faculties / Schools and Language Code. Basic information has been already filled out with the registered information on the Academic Information System, 1 Open to Other Faculties / Schools Set possibility for students in other schools to take the course Click Open To Other Faculties / Schools. 可 Ka:OK 不可 Fuka:NG 2 Language Code 0:Classes are in Japanese. 1:Classes are in English. 2:Classes are in bilingual (JP/EN), or TBD (JP or EN) after students are registered. 3:Classes are in neither Japanese nor English. 4:Others (e.g. bilingual classes in Japanese and German) Basic information 1 Open To Other Faculties / Schools is set by default. Data Reference You can copy the registered syllabus before entering the Items to register. 1 To copy your registered syllabus of others in the same academic year, click the left button ( 2016 年度 in the image). 2 To copy your registered syllabus of the former academic year, click the middle button ( 2015 年度 in the image). 3 To copy any other syllabi, click the right button その他参照 (Others). You can search your older syllabi and other instructors syllabi at その他参照 (Others) page. Data Reference 3 Others 1 The same academic year as that of the syllabus now you are writing. 2 The former academic year than that of the syllabus now you are writing. 12 A course list to copy appears, select the course and click 和文, 英文 or 両方. 和文 Wabun:can copy the syllabus of the course registered in the Japanese forms. 英文 Eibun:can copy the syllabus of the course registered in the English forms. 両方 Ryoho:can copy both of the syllabi of the course registered in the Japanese and English forms. 9 6. Items to register Since academic year 2015, registration in English has been available. Before filling out Items to register, please select input forms of Japanese, English, or Both. Please ask administrative staff at the department about registration in English in advance, because its rule depends on each department. 12 7. Notes about Items to register 1 Key Words Please list several keywords and separate each word with,. [Limitation] Japanese: Up to 2000 bytes (A letter: 1 byte, a double-width letter: 2 bytes. Linefeed: 2 bytes.) English: Up to 4000 bytes (A letter: 1 byte. Linefeed: 2 bytes.) Save The time limit of registration is set as 60 min for security reasons. When you edit, you can save all your data tentatively by a button 編集結果を保存 (Save) which is placed in every items. It is recommended to save data each time you finish an item. 2 Course Objectives Required Please state in general and easily-understandable terms for students to understand. Since course objectives are essential for evaluation, please describe in detail as much as possible. [Limitation] Japanese: Up to 4000 bytes (A letter: 1 byte, a double-width letter: 2 bytes. Please note that 11-levels grading system has been introduced to the undergraduate students who entered in or after AY However, traditional 5-levels grading system remains applied to the undergraduate students who entered until AY 2014, and it is also applied to graduate students regardless their admission year. 15 7 Textbooks You can designate up to three books. Fill out the title, author, ISBN, publisher and publication year. As to ISBN (numbers only), fill out as much as possible so that it is linked to HU Library Catalog and students can search at the library easily. You can search ISBN with CiNii Books. If you have additional information, please state in the field of 教科書備考 (Notes about Textbooks). [Limitation] Up to 1024 bytes for title, 254 bytes for author, 254 bytes for publisher, 16 bytes for ISBN, 4 bytes for publication year and 2000 bytes for notes (A letter: 1 byte, a double-width letter: 2 bytes. Linefeed: 2 bytes). 16 8 Reading List Reading list refers to a list of books related to the subject which students should read. You can designate up to six books. Fill out the title, author, ISBN, publisher and publication year. Since designated materials will be purchased by the library, please fill out ISBN (numbers only) as much as possible. If you state ISBN, it will be linked to HU Library catalog and students can search at the library easily. You can search ISBN with CiNii Books. If you have additional information, please state in the field of 講義指定図書備考 (Notes about Reading List), even in the case of using audio-visual materials in your class. [Limitation] Up to 1024 bytes for title, 254 bytes for author, 254 bytes for publisher, 16 bytes for ISBN, 4 bytes for publishing year and 2000 bytes for notes (A letter: 1 byte, a double-width letter: 2 bytes. Linefeed: 2 bytes). 17 The books in reading lists which appear on HU Syllabus can be bought by HU LIB. Management Division, Library Books for General Education Subjects and Specialized Subjects of undergraduate schools can be bought by Central Library and North Library. Books for graduate schools can be bought by Central Library. However, books for Graduate School of International Media, Communication, and Tourism Studies can be bought by Central Library and North Library. In principle, the terms of a purchase are as below. 1. Books (including audio-visual materials) which can be bought by libraries are limited to those which are applied by the end of January. 2. Books are bought within a budget. 3. The latest editions will be bought. E-books will be bought in some cases. 4. Textbooks or books applicable to textbooks and those which are in possession of the library cannot be bought anymore. 5. As for a set of books which costs over 50,000 yen, the committee examines whether the books are suitable. 6. Other than that above, books which need long time to be obtained or paid, or do not match the collection organization or book selection policy could not be bought in some cases. 18 9 Websites Fill out URL, if you have websites related to the subject. You can designate up to three URLs. [Limitation] 2000 bytes per URL. (A letter: 1 byte) Save An input field is shared between Japanese version and English version. 10 Website of Laboratory If there is a website of your laboratory, please enter the URL and the title. 19 8. Check entered data Click プレビュー ( 和文 ) (Preview Japanese version) or プレビュー ( 英文 ) (Preview English version). The syllabus will be displayed on a new window. Check entered data. Preview Japanese version Preview English version Save Syllabus Registration 19

21 10. Save entered data When you save entered data, click 編集結果を保存 (Save). Note: The time limit for registration is set as 60 minutes for security reasons. A warning message appears five minutes before the limit (when 55 minutes have passed). Once you save it, the time will be reset. The time limit will also be reset even if you click another 編集結果を保存 (Save) placed in every items. Save <Attention!> Please note that entered data will be deleted if you do not save it. 22 11. Select a registration category and register 1 To select a registration category, click a dropdown list of 登録区分 (Registration category). 仮登録 Kari Toroku: Tentative registration. The syllabus is tentatively registered. It is correctable and is not disclosed on the web yet. 本登録 Hon Toroku: Final registration. It will be disclosed after the opening period starts. After final registration, major items from Course Objectives to Grading System are not changeable. Please check carefully before registration. 2 After you select Tentative registration or Final registration, please be sure to click 登録 (Register). If not, entered data won t be registered. 23 3 Once you push the button 登録 (Register), a subject list appears again. <Case of Tentative registration> If the course is shown as 仮登録 (Tentative registration), all items are correctable by click 記入 (Enter) during the registration period. The course not entered yet is shown as 未記入 (Not entered). Registration status Tentative registration Not entered Enter <Case of Final registration> If the syllabus is finally registered, the registration status will be shown as 公開中 (Disclosed), even if the disclosing period of the online syllabi doesn't come yet. 25 12. Refer to your syllabus after the registration period After the registration period of syllabi, 記入 (Enter) button disappears. Instead, two linked terms 閲覧 ( 和文 ) (Read Japanese version) and 閲覧 ( 英文 ) (Read English version) appear. The syllabus can t be corrected, please contact the person in charge if you need correction.
